MQ2Mage

Plugin - MQ2Mage (3 Viewers) 3.1.52471.11

Restart the launcher and update. The latest MQ build was on 1/29. Not sure why yours shows 1/18. Can’t say for sure that will fix it but seems like a good place to start.
Thank you for the assist, that was the cause. I should likely close and reopen the launcher from time to time to validate it is in fact up to date.

If you have already checked the RG Launcher Plugin Tab then read the following:
- The RG Launcher is unable to *delete* old files.
-- This means you will get an error box if you don't have a current plugin that matches the mq build
-- your options are:
--- a: purchase a license
--- b: delete the old .dll in your plugin folder, and/or
--- c: change your macroquest.ini to MQ2PluginName=0 under [Plugins]

Thank you for the assist, that was the cause. I should likely close and reopen the launcher from time to time to validate it is in fact up to date.
The launcher is updated fairly frequently. I check every couple of hours, or twice a day at least.

Dont know if this is a screw up on my end or i missed something. but mage is chain casting cognitive guardian rk. 2 even with the spell line blocked. I was able to fix it by unblocking and then reblocking rk. 2

You can't "block the spell line" we look for the spell specifically

Bolt of Molten Scoria:
Recast Time: 5.75
Cast Time: 3.5 cast time.
Total Time: 9.25

Mana per cast: 989
Mana Per Cast / Total Time = Mana Per Second: 106.918

Damage: 5166
Damage / Total Time = Damage Per Second (unmodified): 558.486

Damage / Mana = 5.223

Spear of Ro:
Recast Time: 1.5
Cast Time: 7
Total Time: 8.5

Mana per cast: 684
Mana Per Cast / Total Time = Mana Per Second: 80.47058823529412

Damage: 3119
Damage / Total Time = Damage Per Second (unmodified): 366.9411764705882

Damage / Mana = 4.559

Looks like you're not wrong.
Perhaps it's because Spear of line goes from level 70 to level 90 without an upgrade and it's a byproduct of a branch of the game where things are out of sync. Because picture this.

Level 120 mage.
Bolt of Molten Olivine - Level 116 - Highest Bolt at 120
Spear of Molten Luclinite - Level 120 - Highest Spear of at 120.

Bolt of Molten Olivine:
Recast Time: 6
Cast Time: 3
Total Time: 9

Mana per cast: 3289
Mana Per Cast / Total Time = Mana Per Second: 365.444

Damage: 38123
Damage / Total Time = Damage Per Second (unmodified): 4,235.888

Damage / Mana = 11.591

Spear of Molten Luclinite:
Recast Time: 9
Cast Time: 3.5
Total Time: 12.5

Mana per cast: 8962
Mana Per Cast / Total Time = Mana Per Second: 716.96

Damage: 73014
Damage / Total Time = Damage Per Second (unmodified): 5,841.12

Damage / Mana = 8.147

The clear winner for raw damage is Spear of Molten Luclinite. In your case you're comparing a level 80 spell to a level 70 spell. They are not inline with each other. So I see where there is a shortcoming.

There is a similar gap in MQ2Enchanter where breathing dot and ChromaNuke differ and we just figure out which one has more dmg and use that.
Suppose we could do something similar.

So this is the spell lineup that makes more sense?
I can make this happen while still making it automagically load

at higher levels np.
Kind of following up with this post, at Level 90, the two nuke spells become Spear of Ro and Spear of Magma. At lvl 90 there's only one effective spear line spell, so the more effective lineup would be "Bolt of Rhyolite" slot 1, "Spear of Magma" slot 2. Not a big issue because I just removed Spear of Ro from my Mage's spells which makes it default back to bolt, but thought it was relevant enough to post.

I'm not sure how long this has been going on, but last night is the first time I noticed it.
MQ2 Mage was spamming blazing orb continuously during a 3 hour raid with raidmode on, regardless whether it was in combat or had a target. This was causing her to nuke herself continuously with it. I attempted to restart the plugin in case something was stuck, and even did a reinstall but she was still spamming it.

Gave the logic a once over and all seems to be in order. Can you show me where the plugin window is spamming that MQ2Mage is casting it?

Sounds like you added it to downtime clickies. You shouldn't do that

You are absolutely right, they are in there, along with several modulation shards and other clickies. Is there anything that would auto add things to downtime clickies because I know for a fact that I didn't add some of these.

ModRods yes, the firebound orbs no. Either way, the modrods can simply be deactivated, the firebound orb should be removed.

The mage will technically automatically use the latest modrods as part of their logic, since we can guarantee they have access to their own latest spell. However, the plugin doesn't know by default about the ones before it. So having them auto-added to the downtime allows the plugin to expend items where they are part of a lore-group to make room for the newest options.

Thanks for the info! I'm guessing what happened is I started adding a clicky and it timed out and she summoned an orb which got added.

How do i get the UI window to stay in the same location after logging? i've tried various times to close window and reshowing..i thought that was the trick...but that doesnt seem to always do it.

MacroQuest overlay position/information is stored in the MacroQuest_Overlay.ini in your config folder. This is something that MacroQuest does automatically for all of the overlay placement/positions (this is all things imgui - like the new cwtn ui window, or any of the other overlays that you find now like boxhud, buttonmaster, portalsetter window, or guildclicky, etc.)

what appears to be happening for some folks, is an issue creating entries for all of your toons when they all enter the game at the same time. when that happens - for some folks - there ends up being a "file locking" issue, where the file is busy being written to by something else, so it can't be written to by the other toons coming in.

Using ISBoxer to launch, which launches toons 1 by 1 appears to help avoid this because each toon entering the game is staggered.

if you have an old hard drive or do file scanning (like AV), or file syncing, this can exacerbate this issue - but unfortunately not something that we can do about that either. :'(

Another thing that has been happening to folks who use ISBoxer with window tiling - is when you swap which tile has focused, it does something where the other tile gets resized which causes imgui to mess with the position of the window you just had as if you moved it - unfortunately this is ISBoxer doing that, and not something that MQ can do anything about.

is this something we can adjust manually in the files when EQ isnt running?
step 1. Reposition your MQ2MAGE UI window to your desire.
Step 2. close out the window, do not unload the plugin just close the window
step 3. /mag show
step 4. camp out normally to desktop then relog back in
step 5. None

You can also edit the maroquest_overlay.ini file You should have an entry for each toon that looks like this

[Window][###Sever-ToonnameClassPluginWnd]
Pos=1994,4
Size=561,468
Collapsed=0

I used a Pos variable that I felt was close and then loaded one toon at a time and selected the macroquest_overlay.ini file one my other monitor. Upon moving the window with the file selected, you can see it save/blink.

Rinse, repeat with each toon

no.

this has *nothing* to do with it.

what i said above is correct, what you said is incorrect. what you said is the old style .xml file ui window, which has nothing to do with imgui windows

if you don't like the loadout, you can byos

from the mq2mage FAQ

Q. I don't like the spell lineup.
A. You can "Bring your own spells" with /mag byos on. Like the other CWTN plugins *most* of the spells still have to be spells that the plugin says you have and can use, you can just adjust your spell lineup with byos.

Q. What is BYOS.
A. BYOS allows you to bring your own spell lineup. This setting also assumes you want to handle your own buffs, since we don't memorize or mess around with your spell gems in any capacity. We will still cast our AA type buffs, but we will not memorize or cast other buffs like we normally would. BYOS also requires the spells to be spells that the plugin knows about - things that get reported upon the plugin loading are the spells it knows about.

Hey all. I'm brand new to RedGuide automation, and trying to set up EQ2Mage. I <think> it's all installed properly, it loads all my settings, but I'm not seeing how to get it to actually perform all the pet summoning and buffing tasks shown in the video. I set my mode to Assist and set my PetType to something, say Earth, I make sure I'm not paused. But nothing happens. BYOS is unchecked, but Embodiment of Earth is in my Spell Bar and the output sees it in the BYOS Custom Spellset. It doesn't cast any self-buffs either.

Does someone have a quick answer as to what I have probably overlooked?

you should not use byos if you don't understand how it functions. you say it is unchecked but you also say about byos custom spellset which is confusing

are you missing components for your pet?

Sorry for being confusing. I was playing with turning BYOS on and off trying to make it do something. That's why I saw that reported. And no, no components are needed. The spells work fine manually. The plugin doesn't attempt to do anything at all.

Do you have any other suggestions?

OK, weird, but I Throned and after zoning the plugin started to summon and buff. So I guess I'm OK. Thanks.

I know the amount of DPS will be variable for gear, etc. However, anyone out there give me an idea of what a LS 125 group geared mage is putting out with MQ2Mage? I got hit on one of my rogues and am trying to decide whether or not to start a clean rogue or use a mage I already have up to ToL. If there is a huge gap in dps, the rogue may just be worth grinding up.

Sorry if this isn't the correct spot, but I figured because it's specifically about mq2mage dps out put it'd fit here :)

Excellent timing. I am playing atm and just pulled 5 mobs and hit burn. On the last mob (burn still on), rogue did 1.9 m, mage 2.0 m. These are dark blue con mobs in Pal'Lomen, the "good guys" that are human models. My group is SK, SHM, ENC, MAG, RNG, ROG.
