Your launcher is not configured with the current MQNext installation path. It's been 2 years since I last installed so I'm not sure what you see during the installation process but you need to point the launcher to the current and correct MQNext installation folder. It's possible you can compare mine to yours and then correct yours to have the correct entries. Remember that backslashes have to be doubled. So C:\MQN would become C:\\MQN in the JSON file.

I changed my JSON file path's and it still did not work. Still getting the RGResourceManager has stopped working. My MQN is also in the C: like yours is. If I log out the launcher stays up. As soon as I log in, and at the bottom of the launcher it reads Lua Module: Fletching available Luas from the forums then it stops working.

what OS are you running?

Hello, my computer updated recently and since I havent been able to load redguides launcher.
I click it, it asks if I want to allow this app to make changes, I say yes, then nothing happens. It wont open it like it always used to.

Ive gone into windows security - virus & threat protection settings - exclusions then added the whole pathway of the very vanilla folder and its contents to the exclusions. Nothing seems to work to let me open Redguides Launcher

What OS version are you using? Someone else reported a similar issue and it turned out they were on Windows 8. The launcher requires Windows 10 or newer.

I installed a newer Windows and still same result. I even reinstalled the launcher after I updated the windows.

Honestly scratching my head here. So either your Windows user profile or your Windows installation have been borked. Perhaps a virus has screwed with file or registry permissions? Or disk corruption? Or a failed or faulty Windows update?

Start by backing up your user data including the Everquest and MQN folders. You may need to just nuke and pave your machine so you want to ensure you've saved all your data either to cloud or flash or external hard drive.

After that, the first step is to verify the integrity of your boot drive, open a command prompt as administrator and type chkdsk c: /f and this will offer to check your boot disk on the next reboot. Do that! Maybe then you want to run a complete virus scan on your system? I would recommend doing a Windows Defender Offline Scan from https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-offline-9306d528-64bf-4668-5b80-ff533f183d6c

After that you could check your event logs and see if you can obtain any insight from the System and Application logs. Sometimes an error message will provide the direction to getting repaired. But usually not in my experience.

After that you might just reinstall a new copy of Windows and start over. Or perhaps this tool might help? https://www.thewindowsclub.com/fixwin-windows-pc-repair-software

I know people really hate to reinstall Windows from scratch but many times it can actually be the most efficient method to resolve these kinds of issues. Just make sure you have your software keys or licenses available. I try and keep all that stuff stored in my email online in the Drafts folder. So I can login from anywhere with Internet access and see the codes.

I found the issue, somehow redguides launcher pathway got changed out of where I had all other files to something completely different, like randomly in program files. (Discovered when I clicked show more vs yes to approve it and noticed where it was trying to load from was incorrect). The fix was to completely uninstall the launcher(done by searching launcher and clicking download then following the prompt remove it, then clicking that download again to reinstall), redownload it to the correct pathway (release folder) and then in settings update that pathway as well. Now loads as intended. Maybe others had this happen as well and can help them. I know I never changed it.

I am just getting in to Reg Guides and I'm trying to follow along with the tutorial videos and when he says to load Macro Quest 2, that isn't there. There is only MQ and i have tried to update and it says i have the most recent version.

This ended up being how I fixed mine as well.

Thank you everyone for your support and help looking into this situation.

I accidentally downladed the group version off OMM. I needed the raid version. It seems until I delete it from the Loginthingamajiggy I can't re add the raid version even if I delete the actual file. So How do I delete from Launcher? Please? Thanks.

delete the files, unwatch the resource

watch the proper resource refresh launcher, done

if watch and downloading via the launcher doesn't work
browse to the resource, click the download button and select the omm_raid.mac file specifically

right click on your MQ icon and open folder macros, place in there
follow the commands as specified on the resource to start the raid

That is awesome outside the box thinking thank you

That might sound like out of the box thinking, but there wasn't always a launcher and a lot of us did all the things manually because that's how it was lol :-) Someone making the launcher in the first place was out of the box thinking imho. Sure does make sense to automate the automation software though.

you should start by doing the following:
- exit out of everything eq/mq related
- check your AV to ensure nothing is being held hostage
-- consider whitelisting your EQ/MQ/RG Folders
- check you don't have file syncing locking up files in your EQ/MQ/RG folders
- restart your computer
- run RG launcher

anyone getting more crashes than normal on zoning today? Since the patch and updating redguides, seems i lose a character or 2 each time i zone.
yes. several threads on it. but you posted in the redguide's launcher thread :'( it appears to currently be related (or more common) with mq2maps and possibly mq2spawnmsater

Unfortunately, that didn't work either. I am still getting "Auth: Failed to authenticate with the Forums" on the launcher when I click "Login". The %LocalAppData%\RedGuides folder didn't exist. I tried creating it and reinstalling but that didn't work. I have disabled the firewall and AV (Windows Defender) still get the same auth error.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I am going to just run VV and skip the launcher.

Thanks again all.
Did you ever resolve this? I'm experiencing the same thing. Tried every listed solution here that I could find. Changed browsers, reinstalled launcher, deleted AppData RedGuides folder. I'm out of ideas.

Evening all! I opened the launcher just now and I see that it has a new latest version of 12/12/2023 09.36.01. My latest version is 12/10/2023. But the update button is missing to the right of it to download the 12/12 version. I can't expand the launcher box to see if update is hidden there. Any ideas what to do?

There was another patch today, after the first patch. Thanks for being patient, ya'll. MQ/RG will require an update and rebuild, it likely won't be for several hours from server up, unfortunately.
