RedGuides Launcher (2 Viewers) 1.1.0

No permission to download
The issue that I am having with the launcher is the following message: MQ2 expected eqgame Date and Time to be: Mar 17 2020 18:15:36 But the eqgame's Date and Time is: Mar 18 2020 19:02:11 Do you need to patch one of them? Loading of MQ2 can not be completed.

I have followed the instructions above, but the issue persist. It appears to be an issue with the launcher not keeping up with the date and time.
the patched the eqgame.exe today - so mq2 and then VV has to be rebuilt to match that
if you use yesterday's .exe you can use yesterdays mq2

https://www.redguides.com/community/threads/another-patch-3-19-2020.71639/ Robban posted the exe in this thread

did you all fix this
there are many things spoken about in this thread so it is impossible to answer your question without some more specifics

re: the out of date stuff ---VeryVanilla will likely be patched by 8pm est as is the usual target on days that DBG patches a new .exe

re: the launcher other stuff - the intermittent issues have various different causes - I had a user with a malfunctioning browser last night, and changing the default browser fixed it right away - for some folks they have their folders requiring admin access or have no write access on their folder etc - so it is a nuanced thing

if you articulate what issue you are having we'd be happy to help you get back on track

I saw you reply to the launcher thread and was just typing out to you.

did you do any of the other suggestions in that thread?

specifically restarting your pc first?

secondly trying a different "default" browser in your windows settings - a few folks have had really outdated browsers that give them intermittent issues.

if you want me to remote in and take a peak msg me on discord and I can see if i can get you sorted

Hey Sic,

Thx for your fast response.
I'll try to update Browser if this doesn't work I'll contact you on discord.

Have a nice weekend!

I tried running the update on VV in the launcher and get a message that says: "It looks like a running copy of Everquest has some files locked. Please unload MQ2 from running Everquest clients by issuing an /unload command in each client and restart the upldate process."

But I do not have anything open (MQ and EQ are both closed with no windows).

try restarting your computer and then try to patch again - i've heard some folks say mq2 is running in the background even if their icon shows it is unloaded

Hi i just installed the new launcher and it doesn't seem to notice when I launch eq. I have tried several times from different accounts and can't seem to figure out what I messed up. Any help would be much appreciated.

When you have the launcher up and before you start eq, click the button on the Very Vanilla tab that says "start MQ2".

I have MQ2 running and can see it is running in task bar. Also I've noticed the plugins I am watching are not showing in the plugins folder. Paid plugins are showing just not the free ones. Is this intended?

Free plugins that come with VV are automatically downloaded when you update MQ2 using the launcher. There is no need to download them from watched plugins.
Thus, this is intended.

Awesome. So any idea why I'm not getting the mq chat window when I boot eq?

Do i have to point it at the directory I have eq installed?

I have both RG launcher and MQ2 running before starting eq.

are you saying that mq2 isn't loading to your game, or are you saying you just dont have the mq2 chat window?

if mq2 is loading but you're missing the window
do this
/plugin mq2chatwnd load
/plugin mq2chat unload

then a /mqchat reset if you don't *see* your window to reset its position

Sorry MQ2 isnt loading into my game.
did you install the correct version ? mq2 live for live servers, mq2test for test servers etc?

you could try hitting the "Reload MQ2" button (tho i have personally had mixed results

if this doesn't work, try restarting your PC and then fire it all back up - I, coincidentally, had an issue yesterday where mq2 wouldn't connect to my game until i restarted (i don't think it had properly exited and was hung up somehow, but a restart fixed it)

Yes I have the live version installed and I am logging into FV. Reload didn't help either. Should I uninstall and reinstall?

I have hesitated to post this since it's only cosmetic, but then today I thought well maybe you'd like to know even though it's completely inconsequential!

My user name as displayed on the launcher is missing the underscore between the first and second character of my username. It is only a display issue because the Launcher works perfectly for determining my access to RedGuides and my purchased Plugins!

Here's a picture I took of it...

lol wow that is kinda weird @r1pt1de --- tagging r1p in here

and don't feel the need to hesitate - we all take pride in what we do and want it to be right. I know r1p has put a ton of work in on the launcher and wants it to be in tip-top shape

I will take a look. Not sure on this one to be honest, it is just supposed to use the value as passed through from the API call, which does appear to be correct.

Hey guys, I am having issues with Redguides Launcher similiar to @Groody and @Drygon.

History: No issues with Redguides Launcher until ~March 10th and it has not worked since

Behavior: 1) Click Redguides Launcher, 2) opens User Account Control asking me if I want to allow the app to make changes, 3) click yes, 4) the launcher does not open and it appears for under a second in the task manager

Troubleshooting tried: 1) restarted computer, 2) uninstalled and reinstalled Reguides Launcher, 3) used different default browser, 4) deleted folder called ResourceManager at %LOCALAPPDATA%\RedGuides per @Redbot suggestion, 5) ensured all Windows Updates were up-to-date including .NET update, and 6) tried the steps @hector_red listed here with no luck (and don't know what an elevated power terminal is).

Does anyone else have any other suggestions? At my wits end. Thanks.

Edit to behavior #4: the launcher does not open and it appears for under a second in the task manager

That does sound tricky. What AV are you running? Anything abnormal about your home network or firewall?

Thanks for response Redbot. Embarrassed to say I am not sure what AV refers to.

Nothing abnormal about home network and firewall that I am aware of. Just default settings. Is there anything that comes to mind that I can check for?

One other thing that could be worth mentioning, my C:\ProgramData\RedGuides\DesktopUtility\redguideslauncher.exe shows last date modified as 2/26/2020.

Sorry, "Antivirus"

Can you send me a conversation message with times you're available? I'd like to set up a time to connect if you'll allow.

Thanks Redbot (sent msg). Using Kaspersky Anti-Virus for what it's worth.

C. rebooted computer
D. reinstalled application

C. sfc /scannow (no issues)
D. Ran MalwareBytes (no malware)
E. Checked System32\KernalBase.DLL for permissions and they are identical to my computer which is just the default settings.

@Dead and @Dead2 we have another user with this exact issue. Was the windows update the solution?

Last week all of a sudden my launcher will open for a second then close out not allowing me to update latest versions of mq2. I have deleted launcher and redownload to no avail. Same issues. Any ideas?

@taskmaster31 sorry you're having trouble :(

We have a few folks that are having this issue atm hopefully one of these "usually fixes it" options help

there are some things to try which usually work:

1. Always try a fresh restart

2. Double-check your folder permissions, windows updates, and Antivirus stuff

3. Try changing your default browser in your windows settings --- sometimes a browser appears to get "funky" and using a different default browser has been known to "un-funk" it

4. reinstall the launcher by removing the program AND deleting your relevant app data in your appdata folder --->%LOCALAPPDATA%\RedGuides and then re-downloading and installing

Honestly, I believe it was a windows update, however, Dead2 actually ended up upgrading his computer and we didn't look back. So thats not much help
