LOKING FORWARD TO TRYINGIT OUT

I just wanted to say that I used to play on PEQ_TGC and found MQ2 to be super intimidating. Your explanation style was honestly the thing that demystified MQ2 for me. I'm sure there's so much that I don't know what I don't know but now I'm at least looking forward to giving it a try!

Brand new MQ2 download, updated 4/15 in launcher; I'm trying to log in my accounts into Live using the guidelines in the video and it' looks like it's all set but I'm getting an error: "Either MQ2 or eqgame is out of date MQ2 expected eqgame Date and Time to be: Apr 13 2020 16:06:55 But eqgame's Date and Time is: Nov 13 2018 10:48:20 Do you need to patch one of them? Loading of MQ2 can not be completed." When I go to try to Run eqgame it prompts me to use Launchpad. I can log in using the Launchpad and run the game that way without issue.
It seems like it should be an easy fix but how do I update eqgame?

Servers are down. You're probably just fine on you're end, just gotta wait for DGC to fix their shit. In general, that error means either everquest or mq2 needs to be updated. Every patch day, like the one yesterday, will have a period of a few hours where mq2 is unusable due to the mismatch.

Thanks for the reply! As of just now I've re-patched EQ via Launchpad and according to the Redguides Launcher I've got the latest version of MQ2, but I'm still getting the same error. The only thing I can think of that may be causing an issue is: instead of running a complete download from the web the last time I installed EQ I had just saved my whole Daybreak folder to a hard drive and put it on the new comp to preserve my UI files. Could that be causing an issue and if so, is there any way to just patch eqgame.exe somehow without a full EQ reload?

The error message hasn't cleared yet after again re-patching this way. Just brainstorming - if I were to go into my EQ folder, delete eqgame.exe, and re-patch via the Launchpad would that restore the application with the newest eqgame.exe? ...or is that a terrible idea? Should probably back up my Daybreak folder again before attempting.

Please don't quote me on this but I have always had trouble with moving stuff from one computer to another... I found in the long run its better to just install EQ fresh on the new drive and once it is installed then move or copy only the needed files and not over writing the install. (copy the UI folder only and move it to the install UI folder. This might clear up the error. Sounds like its looking for something that was set on the old drive/computer. Did you also move all the registry keys along with the files you copy to the new drive. That could be where the problem might be.

Been using MQ2 and KissAssist for a month now and I absolutely love it. I use to alt/tab box 3, any more than that would get a little confusing. Now I have a party of 6 and it's almost "fire and forget". Took a little bit of time fooling around with the Kiss INI files to get stuff to work the way I wanted. The INI library helped. I just look at them and tweak my INIs to my play style. Would love to see a MuleAss style UI window for Kiss. I find the manual edit of the INIs and getting spells/abilities spelled correctly the worst part, but once you get everything in place, the magic happens. Thanks RedGuides

Thank you for this guide, I have just started to play EQ again after more than one and a half decades, I can't wait to research some more and start using it!

hell yeah, welcome to the community @Maul step on over to the RedGuide's way of things - you're gonna be like "holy crap why didn't i do this sooner!?"

I came back to the game after a 9 year (Jul 5th) break, and went from manual 6 boxing to MMObug's MQ2, then was referred here by TheIcon for a more in depth, personalized MAC and Plugin's. Havent got to play with them yet, but snooping around looks to be great!

I hope so, I have been manually playing 3 characters at the moment, but from the videos ive seen from MQ it looks incredible and will massively enhance my way of playing! Just need to wrap my head around the setup :D

I'm fairly new to this as well and one of those "why the hell didn't I do this earlier" guys. It's totally re-kindled my interest in EQ. Redbots intro videos make it easy to get started. I think it's WAY easier to setup than ISBoxer. Getting the fine details configured can take a little patience, but ask the community here on things you are not sure of. We aren't elitist and welcome new users and their questions.

having trouble creating character ini files. The program is running fine but in my marcos folder i have no kissassist character name. Just made a necro and cant find it anywhere in the vanilla folder

yes , i followed all the set up videos. But what i see on my computer is not whats on video. I have no release folder

Now that brings back memories. Ultima 1 - 8. I still have them on a disk somewhere....

Ultima was amazing. I loved might and magic as well especially 8 (day of the destroyer) that game was all about first person views and spell gem clicking, and I was addicted to Arcomage. I play eq first person also, I feel more immersed that way.

From the RedGuides Launcher:

* Logon to RedGuides Launcher.

* Select "Very Vanilla" on left side.

* From dropdown on right side, select what versin to use, "MacroQuest - Live" for Everquest Live or "MacroQuest - Test" for Everquest Test server.

* Click Install just below the dropdown.

* Click "Launch Mesh Updater" and click "Update" on the new window, wait for it to finnish and then close the window.

* Check the checkbox "Launch EQBCS with MQ".

* Press "Launch MQ"

From the MacroQuest application:

* Rightclick on the MacroQuest icon on the taskbar and select "Profiles" and then "Create New"

* Chose a name for this profile, ie. Team1

* Make sure you have the correct path to your Everquest installation.

* Enter the login details for your characters and click "Save" after each account.

* Right click the MacroQuest icon on the taskbar and select "Profiles" and then chose your profile and then select "Load All".

From within the game after all charaters are started:
* In the "PluginManager" window, make sure "MQ2EQBC" are green (loaded), else click it to load it.

* Type "/bccmd connect" on every character.

* Type "/bcaa //bccmd set autoconnect on" on one of the characters, this will send same command to all characters and tell it to autoconnect to EQBCS at next logon.

* Make sure that some plugins are loaded, type:
/bcaa //plugin groupinfo
/bcaa //plugin targetinfo
/bcaa //plugin xtarinfo
/bcaa //plugin advpath

Now you are up and running.
Next step is to install and configure macros/plugins like KissAssist, MuleAssist, CWTN plugins etc.

Stupid question if I may. I have VV installed and have been using it on Live. I wanted to try out somethings on Test. When I go to install VV for Test can I use the same install directory in the Settings or does the Test version need its own separate directory?

Thank you.

Be well. Happy gaming.

It's best under a separate directory. When you switch the dropdown in the RG Launcher to "MacroQuest - Test" the install will default to a new folder.

I also recommend a seperate install for EQ between live and test, but that's just me. I don't like having to run the patcher each time I switch.

Thanks Red.

My gut was saying always keep things separate but wanted to confirm. Yes, I already duplicated my EQ directory and called it EverQuest-Test Server. I would imagine when I install VV- Test, I will need to add a few new exclusions to my antivirus whitelist.

Again, thanks for the feedback.

Be well. Happy Testing.

So first things first, I love this!
I just came back after years away(whenever 90 was max level) and after a couple of weeks trying to alt+tab and not knowing merc limitations and all the new jazz I was about to quit again.
Someone recommending this in game days ago. I finally got around to struggling through learning Reguides, getting everything downloaded and installed last night but was just overwhelmed over loaded after all that.
Full disclosure about my mental energy levels this week, I got laid off. So, please take some of this with that particular grain of salt.
So, today I found these videos and went from "ugh... so much... is this even worth it really?" to "holy crap this is AWESOME!!!" I'm burning through the videos and just insanely excited.

Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU!

Now, for the request/suggestion?

Almost all of the videos are super cool but they have one glaring issue(at least for me), they all assume you're characters are grouped.
Is there an addon/macro I haven't made it to yet that will auto group my team when I log in or a single button I can configure to assemble the avengers so to speak once I'm logged in?

If so, can this be maybe permalinked at the top or wherever you think is most appropriate given the flow of the videos? Or maybe just added into one of the very first videos?

Like , maybe at the end of the auto login option, a section added or a blurb before the video/after the video that's like "Hey, You're auto logged in now which is sick for sure... but... wanna also have your group always ready as soon as you're in Norath? Do this ... etc. And don't worry, we'll dig in deeper on some of the commands in the next/upcoming videos. But for now, this will set you up to play along with minimal effort. etc. " I don't know. something like that.

Again, this is just one of the coolest projects I've seen in 20+ years of gaming and one of the most fun, and technically slick, coding projects I've used/reviewed in ages as a consumer and developer. Just all the kudos and stars to whomever designed and built the serverless interop and api interfaces. Really well done y'all :)

Also, I'm new to RedGuides so, I'm learning the system as well. If there's a "thing" I should be doing to assist or reward someone for help or just great work, please let me know :)

mq2autogroup can group your toons (vid in my signature)
mq2autoaccept can auto accept stuff from your toons (vid in my signature)

I'm literally 1% there. now all kidding aside I mean 99%there however... dun dun duuuun... I can't get my puller(main character I'm actually controlling) to be able to target anything...other than auto targetting group pets... which is nice... but...I kinda need to pull targets with my beastlord not just wait for them to get ticked off and attack the group(which works swimmingly!... sorta). Why are all of my characters(I really only care about the one I'm pulling with) unable to target anything for morethan a millisecond? My healers heal, my dps'ers dps, etc. but 2 things. My main puller(beastlord) can't target anything at all. My ranged non caster dps(ranger) just seems to either wantto sit ther and look pretty... OR.. run in and hack and slash?
So, two issues....
1. how to let my main character target and do whatever he wants other than the low percentage heals and stuff on targets target(which works beautifully btw! kudos!!!!)
2. how to get my ranger to stop running up and slashing stuff(while doing the buffs I've assigned him) and intead, stay the heck out of meleee and use his bow?! :D

I'm 99.999% this is a couple of Ini file updtes
