I modify the settings for my MQ2mage every time I log on but it reverts when I log off. Is there a way to save the settings I like?

if you use the slash command, it saves the setting - the window does not.

Q. The UI Window Doesn't save my settings?
A. This is intentional. The UI acts as a "hot swap" allowing you to adjust on the fly. If you want to "save" your settings, adjust it with the slash command.

Please make sure to check out that sticky above there, you're likely missing out on a bunch of important information and tips/tricks that is going to make you have a much better experience
 
Ok thank you. I did watch all the videos and I completely understand your reasoning for the hot swap. I do understand the idea of the slash command, but I don't know what specific command to give to save that data to the .ini. That is not one of the standard / commands in the menu and I did not see it anywhere in the videos. Please advise. Thanks.

hrm.

there isn't a setting to do that.

we break invis if you're in a mode with a camp, or if you have melee turned on

re: the "i modify but it changes when i log on" that is why i said about the slash commands and sticky (that and having to merge the post to this thread)

The invis is really only a minor issue, so no problem thank you. I do have her melee set to off and I am sure that is the reason.

for what setting?

the link i shared has the commands, which are the settings

there is no "break invis during times we don't break invis" as i mentioned. we break invis as i shared from the faq - there is no command to do anything otherwise

any other setting you're trying to specifically change, you would need to use that specific command, but i don't know what command you're trying to set

Ok now I think I get it. There is no way to save the entire page of settings, but only each specific setting individually. So if I want "selfpetweaponsonly", which is not the default, I have to set that indivdually to on correct? Thanks for your patience with this.

new behavior observed:
Situation: wipe and recovery in GL
Group had 2 mages
while recovering the mage attepted to feed the pet
Message from pet: I have no need for this, xxxxxx. You can have this back

Behavior: mage cannot be stoppt from attempting to feed the weapons to the pet .... tried to stick multiple times per second the weapon into the pet ... after 4-5 seconds disconnect (my guess too many actions per second).
Guess: the second mage has been faster and pet had already weapons, when this occured.
I deem such kind of behavior as critical bug, as such can ring alarm-bells on the serverside, as no natural people can feed weapons to pets with such speed.

Could anything be done to stop the mage to try to stick weapons to pets more then a couple of times?

We only give pets weapons who don't have them. I will take a look to see if it's possible. There's a race condition where we've already determined to hand out weapons, but then they have weapons. In the meantime I would suggest only having one made trying to hand out stuff

Just FYI, I have seen this several times as well. Haven't been in a position to troubleshoot at the moment - the only way out I found was to suspend/dismiss the pet and let it start again.

120 Mage with the normal pet summoned - giving himself pets. I have no second mage to have given pets.

If I see it before any other responses here, I'll try to determine the situation better.

Next time it happens check if eq/mq says your pet has weapons, if it doesn't and your pet is bugged, we're gonna hand them weapons if they don't have them

Many thanks. Didn't remember the flag to disable the handout. Will do "/mag UsePetWeapons false" to all my mages but one.
Likely will solve my issue :)
 
Sorry if I missed it in the FAQ or somewhere else, but I am having an issue with spamming Iceflame Barricade. Recently went bronze on my Mage, and this one does not have the Rk. II unlocker. I only have Iceflame Barricade Rk. II in the book, but only Rk. I lands on the pet when cast. MQ2Mage will just continue to spam IFB on the pet, so I guess it is including the rank when checking the pet for the buff. I can delete the Rk. II spell and repurchase the Rk. I, but this doesn't seem to happen with other buffs (e.g. Burnout) .

On a related note - seems there is a bug in EQ where the AA Thaumaturge's Unity is casting the Rk. II version of the 4 spells even if the account is Bronze. While this is might be nice, it also seems to be causing an issue, as right after TU is cast (landing 4 Rk. II buffs) the plugin is memming and casting Chaotic Largesse again (because it thinks it is missing), which actually lands, so I have both versions on me. Doesn't do this for bodyguard or the other TU buffs, which are showing as Rk. II.

Is there anything I need to do to tell the plugin that I do not have the Rk. II unlocker (couldn't find a related command)?

yeah, this is an eq issue that we haven't forced a hard-coded work around. If i can get one of my mages with rank 2, but silver/bronze i'll work on it

you will want to either go all-access, or purchase the rank 2 unlocker from the marketplace - or block it in your pet blocked buffs (the specific buff, in this case the rank 1 which has an empty space in the name)

if eq tells mq which tells us you are missing something and it stacks we're going to try and cast it on you

Thanks for the reply Sic. Turns out that adding "Iceflame Barricade " to the blocked buffs doesn't work. Need to specifically add "Iceflame Barricade Rk. II" by name (even though the buff it gives is "Iceflame Barricade ").

Not going to go all access, and no funds on the account for the unlocker. Thankfully not using the pet to tank, but I have a second mage going bronze in a few days. Coincidentally MQ2mage license just expired so may just have to make some new chars for fun for a bit.
 
Hey so quick question,

I noticed last night in the group that my 2x mages are not using the following:

command:/pet qswarm

This is for the swarm pets they send out to a mob, once that mob is dead, they do not use this command to attack the next mob while they are still up. Not sure if this is a bug or not. Both mages are lvl 112 FYI

every time we send in a pet, we send in swarmies, this happens in the "common" plugin and isn't mage or any class specific

and we use /pet swarm
 
is there a way to switch off Relentless SYmbiosis when a necro is also in the group using grp mana spel (shorter, but more mana per tick)?

well, we check for stacking, so we only use it when you don't have the buff and it stacks

you could block the autocast from symbiosis if you really wanted to - but otherwise no

A couple questions about MQ2Mage:
Is Molten Orb considered a different line from Paradox? My molten orb continues to be summoned and clicked even with UseParadox unselected. I see there was a patch note back in October about stopping use of Molten Orb with UseFire off, but nothing about it continuing to use it when Paradox isn't used.

The default nuke loadout at level 80 is Ancient Nova Strike and Spear of Ro. Is this strictly an efficiency thing? Lvl 80 is when Fickle and Bolt start to get their lower cast time, so I didn't know if the spell lines were split here? I can use BYOS to get around this, but I was just curious.
 
firebound orb line is not paradox related at all. there is no toggle to turn off firebound other than disabling usage of fire altogether.

do you have reason you just would want to disable it entirely like paradox?

we use 2 of the spear line, so by the time you get 2 in por/oow you will use both, fickle is in the chaotic line, bolt is the Bolt Of line, which we also use 2 for

The damage per mana on orb is lower than just using mana for nukes at this level, so I was just going to turn it off until I got an upgrade if it was possible to do so. On the flipside, at this level paradox is way more efficient than nukes, so I was just kind of wondering what kind of options were under the hood.

I get what was happening now on the spell loadout. It will cast Fickle and Bolt if I load them manually in a slot that isn't being used, but the plugin doesn't load them automatically. I'm guessing the slot that is used for those spells is one of the spell slots I don't have available yet due to Mnemonic Retention level. I was misunderstanding how the loading of spells was being handled. Thanks for the info.

yeah, pretty much all classes, but particularly evident in the casters - right in the "middle" of the game, it *feels* like they just went ham/dumb with how they decided to progress spells and spell lines, and then when the "modern" game came into play - somewhere around 85ish, they were like "uh let's try and normalize some of this stuff".

some classes are a bit wishy-washy "in the middle" as you're mentioning

Since you're comparing the mana cost of the two, the point of the Orb isn't to compete with a Nuke, it's to be cast during global cooldown for more dps (which the plugin does very well)
 
Issue with mage constantly casting Iceflame Barricade. I have other mages with same configuration and they are working fine. Just that one mage will not stop casting the Iceflame. Anyone have any idea what i can do. I started buying spells on the missing list but not fixing the problem. please help...

I actually put in a potential hard coded work around for the EQ bug, but this means you have rank 2 spell but are silver/bronze/dirt

You can either go all access or buy the rank 2 unlocker in the dbg store. As a last resort you can block the spell (as mentioned in the other posts)

If you're not patched, please do so, the post above you mentioned the update

Sorry Iceflame Barricade Rk. II, I did block on me and pet buffs. both the standard and Rk. II. , reloaded UI, coppied UI from working mage. On silver account. 120. vox. not sure what other info i can provide.

you need to block "iceflame barricade " with the space, which is what i said above and linked where i said it previously. :p not rank 2. we're not trying to cast and look for the rank 2, we're trying to cast and look for the spell you have, which is "iceflame barricade " with the space. eq casts the wrong one

otherwise, you will want to:

- get the rank 2 unlocker from the store
- go all access
- (block "iceflame barricade " with the space)
 
Ok, Gave him a Krono, still not fixed, bought expansion, Reloaded, So I think the expansion fixed it. Not sure why i needed on that account and not others???
I know it isn't the plugin, it is Everquest, doing there thing to make more money i guess...

Ok I am at my whit's end, I tried to buy the unlocker but with the all access i can't now.
I also used the space in the name to block the spell like you recommended, for both me and pet.
I even went to Maidens Eye and bought the old Iceflame barricade but would not let me mem it.
relogged, reloaded, nothing seems to do the trick except combat. As long as i am in combat it isn't trying to buff...
 
Has nothing to do with the expansion, it is a ToLability and you can only mem and use it if you have ToL - nothing to do with NoS and you can't buy the rank unlocker if you are all access. There is no rank to unlock.

If you are now all access, unblock the spells

If you are still having issues I would

A: check that your pet window is visible and you are using an up to date pet ui window on this PC/mage/eq install

if you have all access, not byos, and we think your pet does not have Iceflame Barricade Rk. II (assuming you have rank 2) we cast it on them. which means you need working pet window

if you don't have all access, not byos, and we think your pet does not have "Iceflame Barricade " we cast it on them

I'm rebuilding now with an additional check which will fix this sorry for the troubles Dra - make sure to patch when you see the update notes and VV build posted

II and it seemed to do the trick. Please delete all those old posts, it was one of those Daaa moments i guess.

no need to delete them - it isn't your fault - it is eq's fault =p this spell and spell line has a couple of dumb things about it
 
I just came back from playing EQ again. I used to subscribe to some of the plugin that I no longer subscribed to. Downsizing my army. Now I am getting 3 errors for not having mage, rogue and bst subscriptions. I have to click through 3 error pop up per toons. How do I fix this issue?

you can either:

a: delete the mq2classname.dll in your plugins folder
or
b: change your macroquest.ini entries for mq2mage=1 to mq2mage=0
or
c: renew your license and download a current version

Unfortunately the current launcher doesn't have a way of deleting old or out-of-date files, so you have to have one of the 3 things above to resolve it.
