Hello! I'm new to Redguides, and MQ2, and all it has to offer. I've downloaded and installed VV and KA about 3 days ago, and am absolutely loving it (rolled 3 new toons and am leveling up a full group - mind blowing how much content is available now). That said, I main a BST in my raiding guild, and am wondering what benefit this plugin in brings that is superior to Sic's ini that I've installed for KA.

I've watched through the video, and it seems like most of the functionality is found in the ini I'm using now. Am I wrong? Please help!

well, I did mq2bst =p, so it would make sense much of the way it plays is similar. there are quite a few differences, however - just based on the cwtn plugins, the routines on how it decides how and when to do things are very different, all the modes and being able to adjust things on the fly without restarting (like being able to go to a tank mode and we will instantly change our spells and start handling that, all of the addclicky handling, the pulling, the modes, it handling vindication with dots and bandoswapping, auto pet taunting if ma is dead (without setting up a down/holy/react, etc). Plus you don't have to adjust an ini.

You could always /testcopy and give it a whirl on test and see if you like it.

there's no reason why you can't do all the group content with my kiss bst ini - I have, but there is this also.

for people who "main" a class and have a certain way they like things setup - like their spell bars, and what spells and the way they do them, this might not be for them, as part of the fun of mq2/VV is the ability to do what *you* normally do

well

couple things - as some folks have reported issues recently.

1- (and we have an up coming fix for this) - it is possible for mq2 not to complete its "exit plugin instructions" on a crash or a /quit which can leave a buff file populated that shouldn't be.
so the toon that is getting spamm buffed, I would go in your release folder and delete the toonname_buffs.ini and then reload mq2cwtnbuffs on that character - I have a fix for this coming soon, where it will keep track of how "fresh" the information in the file is, and ignore the file if the information isn't fresh.

2 - you will want to check and ensure you are not getting any red "would not take hold" kind of eq error messages - if you are getting none, then it is likely because of what i mentioned in 1. because when we use buffs we say "hey does anyone in my group need x buff - then we check their file for what buffs they have - checking stacking on those - we check blocked buffs - if its in there then ignore it etc --- so if you have a populated file that is out of date and cwtnbuffs isn't loaded, then it will say "hey we have a populated file and the buff stacks with what is in the file, and they don't have the buff, so let's cast on them"

if you have followed these instructions, you do not have any red error text messages saying would not take hold, and it is still trying to buff. please PM me the toonname_buffs.ini for the toon that is getting spam buffed

ok looks like I might actually have figured out the issue.

Gets complicated trying to track stuff down with red herrings and false positives on things - especially when coincidentally there are folks who are having similar issues due to other reasons lol

are you f2p, but that spell at rank 2? (I'm not asking about rk 2 unlocker, and not suggesting you click it)

can you PM me on discord? gonna send you a file and see if that fixes your issue

hopefully have this fix pushed next update

May I suggest an option for slowing all mobs on aggro list before engaging primary target? I know it hurts the DPS but it also ensures survivability of the tank when a shammy/chanter is not available.

Possibly long term addition, but not soon.

It could also be argued that the dps loss could actually lower survival rate by leaving mobs alive longer by doing this since it is single target with noticable cast time, but i understand the desire.
 
In regards to slowing everything.

We don't track the buffs of all the mobs that have aggro on the group. That would require that you target each mob, load their buffs from the server, in sequence, then determine if they have the buff, track the duration of the debuff on each mob etc. Doing so is a significant loss of DPS overall, and a lot of extra stuff that a properly setup group wouldn't be forced to endure.

It is recommended that you get a crowd control toon in the group. Because ultimately that's what's going to make the difference, not a slow. If you have a crowd control toon working appropriately then instead of slowing a mob, you stop a mob dead in it's tracks. Then when the tank breaks the mez the bst will slow at that time. Preemptively debuffing mobs will not likely happen in the plugins in the future either. It's all dependent on the abilities of the characters and how the development of that class goes.

This is something that might be added to other classes, but not as an "intentional and accurate" way of handling things, but rather for classes that can AOE debuff mobs perhaps we will have a toggle for AoE Debuffs to be used.

Just found out slow option doesn't recognize Tugur's insect and end up chain casting.

Yes I have the double slow set up as shaman is also main healer and will prioritize heal than slowing mob, so a BST would be a nice place holder until Tugur hits, especially during pull with named+ friends.

correct, untill we sort out all the slow and snare stacking / resist /partial etc - it is how it is.

Bit of a delay from me sorry, I did read this post the other day. I just haven't really been online for a few weeks, I'll test/check tonight some time.

edit/update: bst with rank 1 and bst with rank 2 shared fero still overwrite each other endlessly :(

I just purchased yesterday, having a lot of fun with it. But is there a command to pull with pet, and also add a chain option for chain pulling is there a command line to pull at say 40 percent? I have noticed one thing with the puller assist mode where he runs up to mob and starts to cast but starts to move before finishing casting

no, sorry there is no pet pulling, and there is no chain pulling

there is a melee pull option if you don't want to use your pull spell

we have noticed the sometimes interrupting an AA before it has "registered" that it finished casting - might be fixed next update - this broader than pulling (tho if the mob runs out of range while you're casting that could be it too)

All good thanks for the reply. I'm still glad I got the plugin ill be using this quite a bit, still leveling up berserker also with the new mq2berzerker fun stuff.
 
I just installed it and have been messing around with it. Ive ran into some trouble my character will continually turn off attack and if he heals himself will not retarget and attack. Even when I turn auto attack back on I have to turn it on over and over again. Also he wont heal my pet he will target himself and heal at 99-100% while pet is sitting at 30%etc. Continually trying to heal himself. This is in manual mode. Maybe im doing something wrong. Havent messed with many options, any suggestions?

Manual mode is a bit of a peeve for me, because as you describe above if you are in manual and he himself/pet/anything that changes his target automatically he won't change to original target which j requires manual intervention.

He may be casting a pet heal? (which doesn't require the pet to be targeted) maybe double check the heal he is casting?

Personally manual mode I only use if I am relatively actively using the character, since target changes for anything means they stop doing any dps
 
He casts the player heal and does it at like 99% even though I have it set at 70. So if I wanted to play the character what mode should I be using? or is this plugin more designed as a box?

well are you sure its not for focused para or a buff?

yes, in manual mode if it changes target to heal or buff you're going to need to issue it another assist command to assist. that's how manual mode works

not really - and there isn't a good solution for being in manual and doing targetted stuff and also not retargetting when you shouldn't- auto turning off doing things like focused para and sounds terrible --- but you can uncheck usemending so you dont your your mending line
 
is there a way to prefer pet heals over the player cast heals for pets? Sorry for all the questions really want to learn this.

well if you have usemending on it will check every group member and their pet (including yours) and use that on them - this happens early on the routine and is intended (but is going to check your pet's health value at 20% lower than the value it is checking you for)

if you are fighting and your pet is the target of your target (meaning the mob you're fighting is aggro on your pet) you will check your petheal and petsalve (against the ma heal values) and petblock and auspice stuff. if you are in a tank mode you will automatically set your pet up to be tanking with buffs and blocks and petheal

if there is no buff on the item, so there is nothing to add ,so you wouldn't add it - but mq2bst already shrinks our pet when you have PetShrink and the AA Diminutive Companion (or when GroupShrink and the AA group shrink).

with pet shrink there is nothing to add from a clicky item - because it doesn't give your pet a buff --- if it was an illusion, it would give your pet a buff, and that is something that you can add to a downtime clicky.

for mq2bst we already automatically can do group or pet shrinking if you have the relevant AAs
(the reason i mention group shrink as well, is that does check group member's pets)

you can also use the slash commands:

/bst GroupShrink true/false/on/off/0/1 - Sets if you want to use your group shrink AA
/bst PetShrink true/false/on/off/0/1 - Sets if you want to use your pet shrink AA

Group shrink uses the "Group Shrink" AA from Seeds of Destruction in your Archetype AA tab (lvl 80)
Pet Shrink uses the "Diminutive Companion" AA from House of Thule (lvl 85)

I don't have mq2bst checking for the lvl 19 tiny companion spell or any pet earring clickies
 
Ok I got it so if there is nothing that pops up as a buff don’t add it as a clicky the others question I have is what determines if it uses a defensive clicks or an offensive

defensive gets used if you are being targetted by the mob you are fighting - so probably whackin you
offensive gets used while you're fighting something
downtime is checked while not in combat (so useful for buff clicks, illusions, etc)
summon summons you an amount from the item
burn is while your burn conditions are met

there are a few more, like shrinkgroup - this is for targetted shrink items you can cast on others
there are some mana/health self/group ones also - but those are getting some work done to work as expected
 
Can we please get an option to Battle Buff or at the VERY least resummon pet in combat. Pet is a huge part of our damage and if we get rezed in battle we are worthless.

I dunno about worthless, but i'll see what i can do. The idea of memorizing spells in battle is pretty poopy, which is why we do it out of battle.

just for curiosity sake, do you often find yourself dead but still in battle for an extended period of time after a rez? are you not holding pulls a sec for your bst to redo their stuff?

A search shows this has been a question for a long time, I only found one downshit regarding summoning a pet in combat from 2017.

I absolutely have zero faith in my ability to fully understand conditions the way some of you all do but could MQ2react solve this issue with something like:
