Anyone that is having problems with first group mission. Fire Fight, before engaging the 8 initial mobs that you fight, go over the bridge invis and up the first room on the left.

There is one yellow suit of armor there. Kill it. That room is the succor spot. So if you get into trouble, evac and you will pop into that room and the mobs are far enough away to not agro.

When you are ready to go back, invis up run over the two bridges kill a few then evac again.

The waves are 7 blue/white, then 2 yellows 3 white/blue, then 4 yellow. All are linked and the last 4 the lieutenants become invulerable every few seconds, but they stop attacking, so all good. Again if you get into trouble, evac. So kill one/two evac reset kill the rest. Note, once you come back and unvis, the mobs will reagro.

After all that nonsense,
you get to talk to a red mob, once done you get booted to POK. What fun -=)

Hope this helps.

It seems that they are all mezzable. I just finished it with a chanter in my crew, need to split the first mobs at least and mez the next wave or split them as well. You want CC with you because the last 4 are agro linked or just a large agro range and seem to be leashed to the big island. I'll post more after my next run.

The mobs are mezable, and if you can survive the first hits surge to get them mezed you have a chance. my chanter is using IHCench mac, and it works great

BTW Do not fall off the island, you will die and the only way to rez is to run back and have corpse summoned or go to Lobby and summon/rez then run back.

If you fall off the island make sure you keep your run key pushed so you are "moving forward" and you wont die when you land, as long as you are "running".

I did this twice now, and both times I used a fade class.

The first wave is just a classic punt/fade wait for them to start walking back to their spots and pull, hoping to get only 3. This whole part is just divide and concur as you do best, whether with a monk ranger bard or sk to try to split.

Once you get through the twelve comes the fun part. The 4 yellow con Lieutenants come charging at you. Make sure your campfire is up outside lol! Pick one and burn that fucker down! You will wipe.

*When you zone in they immediately re aggro you because of LOS! Zone in with your fade class and as soon as they aggro hit your fade and fall back to the bridge behind you...they will stay de-aggroed as they go back to their spots. Pull the corpses to that spot at the bottom of the bridge (the quest guy is right in front of you) and rez your rezzer. I use rez tokens for this from the loyalty vendor. As long as your crew stays out of the line of sight they wont reaggro. Tank moves back out and aggros and kill another...rinse and repeat. (When you have to go back the second time and zone in you run up from zone in and just keep taking lefts, that will take you to the bridge that will lead you to your corpses, you may get LOS aggro as you approach the bridge so remember to check your fade...and dont forget your rez tokens!)

The final round is all just for show...there is no battle there...just some lame NPC dialog between NPCs. T

This is a sloppy way to get through this overtuned encounter at the moment. GOODLUCK!

Why not just tank and spank the yellows..its four yellow mobs.... How many do you have in your group and do you have a cleric? Also, is the first round 4 blues or 8 ?

Because they hit HARD 30-40k each swing. I'm not sure what tank can handle that for more than a round or two even with disc's

Damn, what a pain. thanks for the info

They are mezzable but quite resistant to normal spell mez unless you have tash on them. I pulled with AE beam of slumber because of the better resist check. AOE tash and then hit again with perplexing wave to get the one or two that were not mezzed. This was a piece of cake with SK, Clr, Dru, Enc, Mag, Ber setup

odd, my chanter wasnt mezzing any really...although it could be my pally waking everything....hmmm...wasnt a piece of cake for my pally chanter ranger mage cleric wizard set up all in raid gear... mezzing never happened. How did you have time to tash? will have to run that some to look at the mezzing part i guess.

I spent hours on this, before the patch mind you, and there wasnt time to tash and then mez.

ok , I beat this damn task. heres how. BARD and FADE. that's it. took like 4-5 deaths but did it. Only hard part was trying to split the 2nd wave of mobs.
and
after this task I went to POS and tried the trials, well. lets just say that didn't work so well so I decided to go to my safe spot and grind out all my toons AA's first.

on the 4 LT's do you think using deflection/fortitude would give you the time to mez with the chanter/bard? is bard mez high enough to hit them or do I need to bring the chanter.

I used a bard and fade. it is lvl 110 max AA, maybe just got lucky? I don't know

I used a disc on my warrior (can't remember the name now) to repost all attacks, and my chanter was able to lock them all down and it was an easy kill after that, just anoying when they go invulnerable, makes it take longer.

I used monk to split first 8, if you kick off with a monk at max range (or other fade class), they will reset and you echo and split the eight. Too easy from there. Once the first wave is down, second way, echo as they come down the ramp, once you have aggro on puller fade/feign and they too will rest to a 4 slot position. Echo and split them to grp. Then the Lts. will come, four, cannot split them but I had no problem tank and spanking them since some go inactive and stop attacking, just rotate through them and grind them to a pulp. Pretty easy mission. On a second note, in PoS trials, just do the trial of three and tank and spank each named down, done, you can now roll into Ash.

Shield Flash - SK/Pal AA = 6-8 second 100% evasion (4 min CD)
Flash of Anger - War Combat Abil = 6 second 100% evasion (1.5 min CD)

You can chain them with your evasion disc (Furious or Deflection) and get up to 20 seconds of no melee dmg on tank.

great, thanks

Shield Flash is Block Chance for Pally/SK
Flash of Anger is Parry Chance for Warriors...
Wish it was evasion, cause then it would work when I got my 2hander out on the warrior. :)
Also, Blade Guardian AA for the warrior puts on a 15 minute song buff that autotriggers a similar effect as Flash of Anger when your hp get low.

My strategy for a safe/slow win -

I keep group as far back as possible - I have my rogue go up and hail the npc, you get 2 texts to enter and then everything agros on you. If you invis SUPER fast, you can avoid the agro. I usually just move back and fade. Need to becareful that you invis after fade or you will get agro again. After I reset the initial 7 monsters. I get near, drop a smoke bomb and pull, most times all 7 come, hit the smoke bomb and I pull them out 1 at a time.
After those 7, 5 more spawn, a little harder. I split them the same way.

On the last of the 5 mobs - I bring my group up closer to the middle, position tank out front . I drop a smoke bomb fast and then pick up agro w/ tank. My enchanter mezes the pack of 4. Warrior picks 1 target and stays on it - it goes immune often and is slow, but now we only deal w/ 1 at a time. Enchanter keeps the rest mezed as we kill 1 at a time until all 4 dead.

If you kill any of the last 4 mobs, this starts your loot lock out - so, if you kill 1 and wipe and can't recover, thats it you are locked for 6 hours.

Any of the last 4 has a chance to drop boots/gloves/shoulders/ring

Good Luck

Did this twice today only managing to Kill one of the last 4, before quitting and did not get a lock out. note however i didnt let timer finish. knew i couldnt finish in time so quit before timer ran out, so thta maybe why no lock out?

well, the idea is to avoid people farming the mission over and over for loot w/ out completing it, so if you are able to kill and not get a loot lock, congrats you can farm the shit out of evolve items

The last 4 mobs are super easy to mez. My chanter has no problems. I usually pop into line of sight and Delude one of them then perplexing waves the rest. Because the mob you are tanking goes inactive every 5 seconds or whatever it is, this part is actually super easy. I use an SK to snare and fd split up the mobs. Usually the chanter can handle a botched pull, but I run a wizard for Exodus in case the shit hits the fan!

This is a fun mission when you dont have time to grind for hours. So far I have gotten ring and gloves. Ive only done the mission about 10 times maybe. So thats not a bad drop rate. Evolved, these are best in slot in game.

didn't have much luck using my chanter at all, so ended up using a shaman with root/knockback and sk to pull single with hates attraction. alth my toons are no where near max AA, so that may be a factor regarding Chanter's mez not working to well?

How ironic! I gave up trying to Vinelash on the ranger and found the chanter way much easier. I dont do shamans or druids. Never play them. Come to think of it, I have never played them and have been playing since 99 lol.

ive never played a chanter before so that may have something to do with it also Surfdog ;)

If you’re having issues with mezz, make sure you pop the group with the ae tash AA before mezzing.

Mollified Minds (or whatever it's called, latest version of pacify) works well on Fight Fire. Makes pulling doubles easy for the first two sets of mobs (not the four captains).

Being a returning player, and having wiped on this 4 times (last fight), the concept of having rez tokens was new to me. Now I must buy them on my rogue....

You can also cheese this mission by going into higher TBL zones (if able) and factioning so that the mobs aren't immediately KOS. I kind of accidentally did that, but you could do it on purpose fairly easily.

Yeah, not able to do that though. It's fun having a challenge anyway!

The last 4 are also mezzable. When I wasn't confident in my SK's gear at the beginning of TBL, I would hit shield block or deflection when the 4 were incoming, then the chanter would beam of slumber, tash, and then AE mezz the lot of them. It worked really well.

Now, I do that when I'm lazy... or I just tank it all and let the EQ gods sort it out.

Yeah.. I'm going to have log on when I do it next, theoretically that's what i did. Bit something misfired. I know beam of slumber won't work since I don't have it maxed. Need to get more krono to work on that ;)

I save glyph rune for the final phase, as well. As soon as the 2nd phase is done I hit the group with it. I also use Reactive Rune. Between those two runes, it seems like the tank doesn’t have much difficulty absorbing the initial hit(s) of those 4 end mobs.

Also, I run my chanter in this mission. I let my tank (SK) do its thing with kissassist.

If you do that, don’t forget to turn off autoloot on whatever toon you have set as master looter. You don’t want mq2autoloot deciding which toon gets a coveted evolving loot item.
