Actually, there are free versions of MQ. You don’t have to use the one here or even compile it yourself. I use the free one myself. It is available on GitHub and the old EQ sites have links to it. On the right side of the GitHub page, where it says latest, you can download a zip that has a base version already compiled and includes some popular Plugins already. Completely open source and free, no redcents needed. Links can be found at:
Macroquest.org
Macroquest2.com
The direct GitHub link in case you can’t find it is here:

Other than that, I feel your pain. I really do. If you can make your own macro or LUA or plugins, you’ll be fine. If you have to depend on others, you can look for the GitHub depositories or p2w it and just buy your way through. You can also just private message me or others if you wish. That’s the safest way to do things. I’d recommend the MQ discord server if that is something you use.
MQ is still completely free. You do not have to get it from here. The plugins and macros hosted here are in the paid or redcent area. My advice to you, DIY as much as you can. You will learn more and not have to rely on others.
Also, you should know that DbG is outright banning folks for using MQ, not just suspending. If you have old accounts, and it sounds like you do, do not use MQ if you don’t want to risk permanently loosing them.
At the very least, try a new free to play crew first. Less loss of emotional attachment if you get banned. People have reported loosing 30 characters in 3 weeks, so it’s no joke. I’d show you the thread where people report their banning, but it is locked behind level 2 access. Do yourself a favor and start a new crew on free accounts. It costs nothing.
Hope that helps and good luck.
Just looking to setup multibox again. Old beta player that quit in 2002 coming back

Used to "multibox" with 2 computers back then haha...
Anyway - it seems like I cannot download the tool. It wants me to pay. Is this seriously a pay-only tool you have to have a SUBSCRIPTION to???? Holy hell.... Free game, paid tool, wth?!
Or am I missing something obvious...?
Sorry it feels that way mythal - Grimmllind's take is certainly not a majority take here at redguides - he seems to go out of his way to shit talk the community here and make everything feel real awkward and tense for no apparent reason.
MQ is free and open source - you can compile from the source or use the MQ provided zip posted on the mq discord or github
VV is a paid for subscription that compiles MQ, provides a community and platform for resource repositories, things that are: completely free, included with VV, or "premium" - we have pretty much everything that isn't "an active hack". We compile Emu, Test, and Live server builds.
RedGuides also maintains "Open Vanilla" which is the open github version of Very Vanilla for folks who want to compile themselves. Even some of the "redguides exclusive" stuff like mq2status, or mq2tstrophy, or mq2relocate are available to self-compile if you wanted to do that.
Redguides has lvl1 (open to anyone who has signed up) repositories for scripts (macro or
Lua), and guides and discussion, and we have a "level 2" that is the subscription level that (hopefully) keeps the lights on. This level 2 is where many folks choose to share their scripts, or kissassist inis, or where RGMercs is located. Level 2 is required for the "premium" stuff like mq2grind or TCN
RedGuides is much more than just "pay for mq" - the number of guides, and scripts, and 1-offs, and exclusives, and community, and questions asked->answered, and important RL life moments shared isn't something you're quick to find elsewhere for EQ, or just about anywhere else.
This community has come together for big situations - we've collectively sent packages to folks who went to the hospital
@kaen01, we got some "get well soon" stuff for when suineg totalled his truck and got fucked up pretty well, We gives each other
birthday wishes.
We also spend a lot of time trying to keep an upbeat and positive and helpful community - something that imo the macroquest2 boards of yesteryear did a really bad job doing - but it is something that > i < personally spend a lot of my time focusing on.
For many of us - this place, this community *is* our village - or at least part of our village.
I had my first child a month ago - and I didn't make any posts, and only had told a few folks about it - but my house is FULL of baby gifts from people who I call friend - maybe even a brother or two. These people gave me tips for mama, tips for the 6 year old to make sure she's not feeling left out, tips for me - @burdsjm gave me one of the nicest messages i've ever gotten from anyone - something about "i don't know if your dad is around, but i didn't have anyone when my kiddo was born so i want you to have my number".
This place is way more than "some subscription" - you don't even have to use #real money - the other dude i quoted got an outpouring of support for him to get to the 50 redcents needed to get "free" level 2, and now has near 300 more --- that is 6 months of level 2.
Welcome to redguides dude - I hope you stick around - I hope your experience is as rich as mine and a lot of others - you're home dude, pull up a chair
