So the launcher seems to be a speed bump to getting characters loaded. Especially on a laptop with a touchpad, struggling with the right click menus on the taskbar. Am I missing anything that would allow a single click to start RG, run updates, then start MQ, launch my profile-->Load All characters, all with 1 click? Thanks!
 
I can't seem to login to the launcher. I keep getting the message "Auth: Failed to authenticate with the forums." I've tried reinstalling the launcher, using different internet browsers, deleting cookies and no luck. Does anyone know what else I can try to get this working again?

Check your browser.

You Can try changing your default windows browser. Or clear your cookies
 
when i click my launcher nothing happens. I played yesterday an never had an issue before that. i uninstalled an reinstalled thinking that may work. but still isnt loading .what can i do?

sorry to hear you're having issues,

things to check:

antivirus
defender
one-drive and other "syncing" programs
windows compat layer

Need to check if windows added something to your compat layer?
Check these locations in your registry for anything eq/mq related and delete.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

if you are getting it to load, but nothing afterwards, you might need to either a: clear your browser cookies, or b: change your default windows browser to something else

and a slight continuation on this, what would be the best route to automate a group logging in, running overseer, then logging off when done and waiting 6ish hours to do it all again?

I'm getting the same thing. When I click my desktop icon to open program I get a black DOS window that flashes (which is to check for updates I presume) and then that goes away and usually the Launcher will pop but nothing happens after that. I've rebooted idk how many times and still no change. Things I've done so far to find any problem of it being blocked are as follows:

Delete cookies and cache data
turned off windows defender
turned off anti-virus
changed default browser
turned off all "syncing" programs of the sort
Went through Reg as Sig stated and found nothing of MQ related settings there
Yes, I've rebooted after each thing I've done

I'm at a loss. I can't get the launcher to boot and I can't even get any data as to why it's dropping or not loading properly. I've deleted everything I could with MQ and reinstalled a 3rd time and still get the same problem. Plz help
 
i still cant get Redguides launcher to work an now i cant even find were the download is. man going on 1 1/2 weeks with the launcher issue
 
i keep getting this message error( C:\ProgramData\Redguides\DesktopUtility\testrunner.exe) an under that (The requested operation requires elevation ). had RG for a few years an never had an issue before this.

That sounds like a permissions issue. Not sure if it needs to be run as admin, or if you recently changed some security settings, but I would look at that.

So I went to the search in the upper right corner on this screen and typed in "launcher' and it lists possible problems and just a few posts down from yours it shows you can click on this.

So I have no idea if that will help but there is a lot of good info on those problems posts and one just might help with yours
 
ok now . i tried to load up my laptop an run RG an when i hit the launcher it pops up an then goes away . an i havent changed anything on my laptop i know for sure in over 4 to 5 months cause thats the last time i even played eq on it. Man this is nuts. i play 99%of the time on my desktop an when i travel 1% on my laptop. an i cant load it on either. now i wondering what lvl im at when i been reading you need to be lvl2 to use the plugins. even though i payed for i think 6 or 7 of the plugin in the last few months.

yes, even if you have a current subscription to the cwtn plugins you need to have an RG lvl 2
 
I am not able to find my answer, nor can I find the file where I might update the config.

Can I help with updating the Mesh Generator to include the new Night of Shadows zones? Does it work off of the resources\Zones.ini file?


Edit: Yes, yes it does.

Hollowshade was never released but is part of the zone files. Sort of like last expansion's Coterie Chambers=maidenhouseint
 
Update-Process : Lua\lib :: "zones.Lua" and "ladonzones.Lua"
From the thread "Magellan" I picked the updated 2 files "zones.Lua" and "ladonzones.Lua" which allows me to travel to zones in the new expansion.
My suspect: there is an update-process which loads and overwrites those 2 files which those from the date 28.09.2022.

Is there anything I can do, to keep the 2 updated files?

it likely means that you need to un-watch that resource if you don't want the launcher to re-download what is currently there.

alternatively you could post in magellan discussion and ask the author to update (best answer)
 
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this, but I had a QoL request I just thought of. Is it possible to get license information (specifically expiration dates) and displayed in the launcher where applicable? I personally would love to see it in the plugins tab and maybe have it green if it's more than a month from expiring but turn yellow within a month and red if expired?

there is a new launcher in the works and there will hopefully be some integration like that in the future
 
I [BGCOLOR=initial]would love to see the launcher preserve filesystem timestamps of macros, Lua, etc. Ideally it would use the timestamp from git/source.[/BGCOLOR]

As a fallback option, just not updating the file if there are no changes would be almost as good.

Right now it appears whenever there is an update, ALL files get updated to the current time.
 
On the topic of feature requests, would love the launcher to update, run, and launch a profile automatically.

Having the same issue. Restart didn't fix it. Running installer in various locations was a no go.
Deleted RedGuides from Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\
I manually created the folder structure it's looking for and added the installer package (and also just pointed it to the same run location as the file).
I swore at my cat; it helped a little.
It's still listed in my app lists, but can't be removed due to the same error.
Gonna have to not be lazy and compile to get back in the swing of things.

usually means that you have some files being held hostage with antivirus, or file syncing or internet issue

I'd suggest restarting your pc and then trying again
 
Got the same trying to login mage, except the dll name was mq2cleric.dll. <edit> The mage was successfully logged in and /mag help gave expected results.
 
Having and issue with the launcher this afternoon. I shut my computer down this morning before the EQ server maintenance downtime. Booted back up a few minutes ago and when I launch Redguides Launcher I get the following message:
It looks like a running copy of Everquest has locked files locked. Please unload MQ2 from running Everquest Clients by issuing an /unload command in each client and restart the update process.

No copy of everquest was running when I get this message. I have started each EQ client account that I use and typed /unload and it tells me that is not a valid command (because nothing is running).

When I launch EQ I get this message:

Everquest Version: Feb13, 2023 12:50:47
MacroQuest Version: Jan 11 2023 10:50:57

These versions need to match in order to load MacroQuest. One of them may be out of date. Loading Macroquest cannot be completed.



Everything worked fine last night, just ran into these issues this afternoon.

I've tried a few times to update/refresh the MQ program and get the same message each time. I've rebooted and get the same errors.
Do I need to just un-install and reinstall MQ2?

You need to run the patcher. Yes, today was a patch day You can see your macro quest version is older than you're everquest version

Check the plug-in tab of the launcher because you did not download the most recent MQ2 cleric it is trying to load the old file which obviously would not function

if your plugin license expired you will have to renew it to download the latest verstion, but you can see here that you didn't download cleric

Red guides launcher needs updatring your MacroQuest is out of date.

There is nothing to reinstall. You need to patch macroquest through your red guides launcher. dont go reinstalling stuff for no reason =p

just a patch day, no biggie - that msg tells you what you need to know, just look at the dates

Ran the EQ Launcher, same error message. Version incompatibility .

I thought I did all the updates through the launcher before, but did it again and this time it worked.
