I've hated Spear of Ro forever, stupid 7 second cast time. I personally think it is a naming convention problem. At 90, the 'Spear of' line starts with spear of magma. Spear of Ro is considered part of it despite not being same recast, having a different text message, and a much longer cast time. I just BYOS it to avoid it until 90 when Spear of Magma starts the proper line off.

ETA: Your line about if it doesn't have made me realize I can just delete the spell. It loads Bolt of Molten Dross fine then. Going to do that from now on.

Looks like you're not wrong.
Perhaps it's because Spear of line goes from level 70 to level 90 without an upgrade and it's a byproduct of a branch of the game where things are out of sync. Because picture this.

Level 120 mage.
Bolt of Molten Olivine - Level 116 - Highest Bolt at 120
Spear of Molten Luclinite - Level 120 - Highest Spear of at 120.

Bolt of Molten Olivine:
Recast Time: 6
Cast Time: 3
Total Time: 9

Mana per cast: 3289
Mana Per Cast / Total Time = Mana Per Second: 365.444

Damage: 38123
Damage / Total Time = Damage Per Second (unmodified): 4,235.888

Damage / Mana = 11.591


Spear of Molten Luclinite:
Recast Time: 9
Cast Time: 3.5
Total Time: 12.5

Mana per cast: 8962
Mana Per Cast / Total Time = Mana Per Second: 716.96

Damage: 73014
Damage / Total Time = Damage Per Second (unmodified): 5,841.12

Damage / Mana = 8.147

The clear winner for raw damage is Spear of Molten Luclinite. In your case you're comparing a level 80 spell to a level 70 spell. They are not inline with each other. So I see where there is a shortcoming.

There is a similar gap in MQ2Enchanter where breathing dot and ChromaNuke differ and we just figure out which one has more dmg and use that.
Suppose we could do something similar.

I'm noticing on some pulls that my mage (tank mode, with useMelee on) is beating his pet to the mobs on pull and is getting whacked and dying. Is there a known solution for this? I turned off useMelee as a workaround and it's fine, but I know that's losing me some dps so figured I'd ask. My first thought was maybe pet classes could get a separate PetAutoAssistAt percentage, but I know that's more work for you guys so probably not ideal and might not even solve the problem.

A. Currently you would need to turn off usemelee and usestick. It is an item on our "issue board" to look at.

My bigger problem with the spell is the cast time. That's some fights lengths and it just wastes the mana finishing the spell every fight and lets the bolt fly over a dead body.

In the last log I have 125 castings of Spear of Ro, and 47 actual hits or resists after removing Twincasts.

ETA: I deleted spear of ro. I'll rerun that same test and see how his dps/sustain compares in same fight with same group.

It makes total sense how it ended up the way it was, but this is definitely a better default set prior to HoT when they get the actual Spear of spell line. I think even the additional Bolt is usually not necessary but definitely a superior choice to Spear of Ro.

Like I said, it was really a non-issue because of BYOS, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

Each resource on RG has an Overview / Discussion Thread and either a link to their wiki or tabs with FAQ, Commands, Etc.
Please make sure to post in the respective discussion thread, and check the FAQ/Commands/Wiki for information before posting.

you didn't say what you're using or post in a location that might indicate.
 
based on your downloads i'm just going to guess that was an mq2mage quesiton

if you were to check the MQ2Mage FAQ page

you would see some things about summoned items and lore-groups.

A. We handle this for items and objects that we can detect. We can't detect or know about items you may have placed in housing, like a personal house or a guildhall. So if you are continuing to have a lore-group issue with summoned items, you will want to go and look in your housing including guild hall for any items that match lore-group items like "Wand of Burning Modulation", "Wand of Dark Modulation", or "Wand of Phantasmal Modulation" etc.

Ether-Fused Shard is another example.

Today I have had a dozen crashes in 9 hours or so, usually but not always when zoning my mage with CWTN Mq2Mage. PM sent with crash ID
those/that is not related to mq2mage unfortunately.


 
Just wanted to bring it to your attention. Once the mage makes 125 it no longer summons weapons for the pet.

I might be jumping the gun and there is an update in the works already. So please forgive me if this is the case.

if new weapon was missing or something, we'd just be handing out the old ones - but i'll take a look


can you do me a favor and take a screensnip of each of the individual weapons and the bag that the new summon does? we always need to wait until it is live and we can get one before we add them

Let me know if you need anything else. The "Bag" icon is a bit wonky.

Circling back to the pet weapons issue. It does appear mage pets are getting weapons now but other class pets are not. (Necro/Shaman/SK)

We give weapons to pets that don't have them.

Do those pets already report they have primary and secondary items? (Actually check instead of just saying they don't)

We havent changed anything there.

The only thing that was missing were the new items
 
I can get some screens shots if needed. If there is a command to check if pets have weapons I'll run that as well but I do not know of one.

SK pet has nothing in its hand visually. If I hand him to swords he will be holding them. Same with the necro.

output should say off as you want to hand out weapons to more than just your pet.

Ensure the intended target for pet weapons is in your group.

When I target myself, group members, other player, merc's, I get this spammed in the Output. It does not spam when targeting my pet, group member pets nor NPC's.

I do have old models turned on though this only occurs on MQ2Mage & MQ2Shaman not the other ones (with the same EQ settings) and happens in all "Modes".

I'm sure this most likely has been happening for a long time on the Mage (I just didn't notice till today) The shaman has certain done this for a long time, it doesn't seem to affect anything that I can tell, but that a lot of spam going somewhere :-)

Any suggestions?

Looks like you turned on debugging. Stop playing with your INI :-)

My mage is not giving pet weapons to my enchanter's pet. He does NOT have SelfPetWeaponsOnly turned on. The enchanter is in the same group on the same computer. Both running CWTN. Any ideas?

Yes. The enchanter pet says it is holding items. So we don't give it anything.
 
I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding a mode or if there is some user error here, but I prefer the idea of sicTank mode on my Mage but if I set it to that then my Mage just doesn't do anything aside from buff. I've been using the HunterTank mode as an alternative lately but if I turn off follow without pausing then that Mage is going to go on a suicide mission. The problem is that's the only mode I've been able to get it to successfully tank while moving around. (questing, missions, etc.)

make sure to reset your camp. You only do stuff to aggressive mobs (on xtarget) in your camp.

Yeah, I've definitely watched the video. I've consumed all pieces of relevant media but sometimes things might not fully stick in my head. I do suffer from slight memory loss from a brain injury when I was younger, so I do apologize if I ask questions about things that have already been answered. However, I scanned through this video again and did not see anything explaining how mode 7 works.
