Windows Defender is actually about as good as any. They're all complex under the covers. But I also understand that we all have our preferences. Kaspersky and BitDefender should be high on your list for a free AV. Over the years I've used nearly every one and had troubles with nearly every one, but Kaspersky is my AV of choice for my boot toolkit on flash drive. Some people have a hesitation to trust Kaspersky because they're a Russian company and as such they could be compromised either by Russian state security or by the professional hacker networks run from there. I wouldn't worry about that too much unless you have $$$ stored in your Bitcoin wallet or your on-line investment accounts!

Yea, don’t use Kaspersky. Windows Defender is actually really good for 99.9% of what you need an AV to do, especially if you’re in a full or mostly full windows environment. When you start to get into trouble is when you disable Defender and run a 3rd party AV on top of a mixed environment with all these other proprietary apps running … because that just ends up making your attack surface more complex to protect than it needs to be.
you need to add your mq2 directory as whitelisted from your antivirus.
its mentioned a few times in this thread (you posted in the wrong area, now merged to the mq2mage thread, and probably didn't look in the mq2mage thread for the previous mentions of this).
tl;dr - false positive, add your mq2 directory to be exempt from your antivirus

Tried testing hunter tank on mage however there seems to be an issue where mage will target himself then not retarget the mob he was attacking/tanking. I know the pet tank was still being developed during beta but now that its live I dont see anything in the FAQ.
Sidenote: Is there any plans to add a feature to have pet grab agro of all mobs in camp if there is no CC in group?

is the mob outside of your campradius? the mob needs to be inside your campradius. can turn on usemelee for supre duper certainty

Mob is in camp radius by a large margin, mage is on tank/MA and its very repeatable on my end.

I'm trying to watch it but it appears using DS Skin might be the issue. Also, for some reason I cannot make mage tank and have someone else be MA. Tried using that to fix issue but if mage is set to tank, it auto sets MA on mage.
yeah, if you go in a huntertank or pullertank mode and you're group leader its going to make you group assist.
you can pass group lead to someone else in the mean time

Sorry, I should have been more specific on that last comment. I moved the group and had mage on "Tank" not puller tank. Tried setting someone else as MA but it kept defaulting back to mage. I'll try passing lead meantime.
yes, if you're in a tank mode, tank, sictank, pullertank, huntertank, you're going to try and assign yourself as MA if you're not MA, same with tank if you're not tank.
if you don't want to be those things someone else needs to be the group leader
but anyhow - turn on usemelee for now, or someone else as assist and i'll take a look at it sometime soon
cast magic would be your magicbeam if useaoe, and summonednuke, bolt, shockcombo, and shock only
MQ2Mage is being reported as a virus by Windows Defender preventing update and loading once in game. warning pops up that a threat has been detected, turning off windows defender and all works fine. this is on Live, doesn't seem to be an issue on MQNext so far.

as you noted, turning it off makes it work - I wouldn't go that far to tell you to turn it off entirely, but if you don't want false positives to flag on your mq2 install, you should whitelist your mq2directory

it can't be loaded because it is quarantined.
you need to whitelist the directory, then remove any files that are being held hostage, and probably restart your computer
if a file is being held hostage you can't adjust it or load it - that is the point of a quarantine.

I did not buy MQ2mage but I did try it out during test period, ever since it went live I get errors on all my accounts as they load up, not just on the mage account but all 6. I assumed this would be worked out on its own but still happening, how do I make this error for it trying to load MQ2mage going away? And no, I do not want to purchase it or use the plugin MQ2mage.

I did not buy it so I have no MQ2mage commands, when I try to unload it, it says "Plugin MQ2mage not found". And it is happening on all accounts, not just the one with mage, so I get 6 error boxes each time I log in.

you'll need to edit the macroquest2.ini file to not load mq2mage on startup. fun fact, the cwtn plugins load on every client, not just the individual classes because plugins are universal across all clients.

unfortunately, the launcher doesn't currently have a method to remove out of date files
you can either:
a: delete the mq2mage.dll from your release folder
b: edit your macroquest2.ini in your release folder under the [Plugins] section to
mq2mage=0

I've submitted the file to Microsoft as a false positive so that they will unblock it. It happened to me as well. Hopefully fixed after this weekend.
as i've also mentioned the mq2mage for MacroQuest "Next" doesn't have the false positive flag, so you can also do that if you prefer. however you can and will run into other false positives over all sorts of plugins off-on as false positives occur - folks have had mq2rez flag as a false positive, for example.
