I'm worried I'll mess something up by changing settings or launching. Forgive my ignorance, but are EMU servers monitored privately, or DB has their hands in them as well. I am under the assumption that the emu servers are privately run, and db can't touch, which is why some just closed down cause DB is giving them flack. Does this means we are free to play EQ on emu servers and NOT have to ever worry about suspensions or bans?

I am trying to see what the down side to this would be and if I should move people over, or would I be starting from total scratch on an EMU server?

Sorry in advance if this should be posted somewhere else.

Twisted,
EMU are servers put up by anyone, not run by DarkPaw. Anyone can put one connected to a Server list like Emulator.org or just run one locally on your own home computer for your own play or you may invite a few friends if you wished. The discussions about EMUs being forced down, is another topic really and I don;t want to muddy your question, you can read about it further in RG forums. There is nothing stopping you me or anyone to enjoy EQ without, DarkPaw. EMUs have limits due to what users have been able to do, so for example,DoN is the common 'last expansion' fully stocked to play on EMU, many items, spells and quests, zones, etc all use older standards, and less of the Quality of Life stuff newer expansions past DoN have. People that make the ones many people play on connected to the Server lists put in a lot of time to make custom things and add in rules for items or other features.
Tagging @Sic to see if Twisted question and my reply should be moved to its own thread?
Anyways, hope it helps answer @Twisted

For MQ friendly EMU's see this thread. Some will ban you for using MQ on them. DB really has no way to tie your EMU account back to theirs.
