I use a mixture of CWTN and RGmercs.
I like to think of them as apple vs android.
CWTN is the apple of a combat routine. Super simple, very plug and play and executes well at what it's supposed to do. A complete newbie could use it and have no issues.
RGmercs is the android of combat routines. It works great and has a ton of options and other potential uses that can be expanded and combined on.
Perfect example - I use CWTN for my SK and SHM but RGmercs for the rest of the group. I will even switch out to RGmercs for my SK and SHM if I am doing a multi hunter kind of scenario. I like some of the flexibility with RG mercs for melee, where I don't need to face to assist. I want to melee on etc.
Overall, I don't think there is a one is better than the other. It 100% depends on what you want to do, what you can afford and if you want a bit more configuration or less.
