Vanilla - Very Vanilla MQ (Live Servers) (3 Viewers) 3.1.52471.11

No permission to download
The UI files are not a next issue. All you have to do is insert the new code into your custom UI files. They added code for 2 new inventory slots that will be available via perks and 2 new loot window slots. I just edited my UI .xml files after figuring out the new code and it loads without errors.

ok, i need some simple setup for this next .....

I just went ahead deleted all my redguides folders....

I installed the new Next version of my CWTN plugins, there called ( nextmonk, nextmage , etc )

I go to my launcher and hit start EQBC server

none of my characters want to listen to me .....follow, chase, come to me etc any ideas

you shouldn't need to "install the next version" the launcher will download those things for you

did you do the migration utility to move over all your mesh files and such? it sounds like you might just be missing those files for nav - which won't be able to come to me, or chase mode without nav and nav files

no sir, i deleted it all , because honestly, i had so much stuff everywhere

now , i cant even run it lol...... it says to run mq2auth.exe but i cannot find it anywhere in my files

carpunky,

did you install next over your mq2 folder or vice-versa? you should probably just do a clean install to its own directory

if you need to manually download meshes for some reason you can get them here: https://mqmesh.com/

hi sic I think that I got it now I just let it install to the default directory
Then I downloaded the mesh , it solved my problem like you said
I need to read up on the Lua stuff lol. It does load a ton faster
thanks for your patience

Went away for the weekend. Just did an update to the latest Next client (249?) and attempted to start up my characters using the auto login profile (nothing I haven't done many times before). Near instant crash. Tried on another character, same deal. Hopefully the crashes are caught in the crash submission processes. Rebooted machine. Same crash. Unloaded Next and started up first character, then loaded Next. No crash. Unloaded Next and finished loading in remaining characters, loaded Next. No crash. So far, so good.

I just found a crash on startup in MQ2FarmTest, if you're using that plugin, remove it from the .ini until the next build.

I did remove it when I saw the text for it. I don't use it and forgot about it being loaded. Thanks for confirming.

Forgot to say in my original post the dialogs (two) for the crash indicated a problem in the main dll. My unloading farmtest was coincidental to the information I was given.

The crash site doesn't always indicate where the problem is. For example, in the case of MQ2FarmTest, it was calling WriteChatf with invalid parameters. WriteChatf icomes from mq2main.dll, hence the crash being in mq2main

I hope I am in the right place ..

I switched to "MQNext" ... I am trying to use the Autologin like with Live via RedGuides launcher, when I load the window pops up, logs in, I need to click the server login button, it loads to character screen then, instant boot to login, the only error is from EverQuest saying connection lost, the autologin then logs back in to server screen and waits for me to click the server login button again. It will continue to do this over and over.

With a single account, above is true; however, when I add all six box to the list they get booted the same way and they don't return to the server select screen, they all need to be closed and restarted, it looks like server select but the list is empty and it states 25 of 27 for the EQ content.

I can log into my characters 1 by 1 via the normal launcher and have MQNext loaded.

Uhhh... That sounds sort of like you have autologin setup wrong, but there's nothing we do that would cause you to get disconnected even in the case you have it setup wrong. Are you using anything else besides MQ? IsBoxer? WinEQ?

MQ Live first, then I installed MQNext , each in their own folder, I used the tool to transfer data from Live to Next as in the guide.
I am not using IsBoxer or WinEQ

Got me. Start with getting one to work though, and work from there. Which method of autologin are you using?

I didn't know there were different methods of autologin ..

I deleted my MQNext and reinstalled. I right clicked the MQ icon in my (purple and gold now) tray to access the menu and created the profile with the editor. Still disconnected when I hit the character select screen. "Your information could not be verified".

So I switch back to Live on the launcher ... and I load up all six fine no issues. Can I copy the auth info from Live folder to MQNext ?

double checking should i have my Luancher directory pointed @

C:\Users\carpu\AppData\Local\VeryVanilla

or

C:\Users\carpu\AppData\Local\VeryVanilla\MQNext

I'm having an issue with running next if I just use MQ2 I can run it no problem but when trying to launch Next I get an missing dll error
"The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." and
"Could not load MQ2Main.dll or one of its dependencies, MacroQuest will now exit."
I've tried reinstalling as that is what the error message suggests but it doesn't seem to fix it no matter how many times I reinstall. Anyone have any ideas how to fix this?

Yes, copy MQ2AutoLogin.ini to your config folder.

as for the other message, you’re sure you’re getting to character select?
I Copy / Paste and Replaced MQ2AutoLogin.ini , same issue. *UPDATE I moved .dll also.

I hit enter at server select, wait for it to load, the character doesn't even totally load at character select, I see a wire frame and polygons with no texture, the character and the landscape, then a boot to login screen with username and password then the error You don't have a connection to the internet then a message that says your login could not be validated.

*UPDATE
What about MQ2AutoLogin.dll ? There is not one in MQNext\Release\config when I reinstall via the launcher.

I moved both .ini and .dll , Still booted at character select.

*UPDATE FIXED

I used the import/export. I loaded Live , exported my autologin profile , loaded MQNext , imported. Fixed. Thank you for the help.

Are you running Windows 7? If so you should upgrade to Windows 10. Microsoft’s support for Windows 7 ended in January of 2020 and there are a LOT of vulnerabilities that will never be patched for Windows 7.

The plugin dlls for Next sit in the plugins folder, not in the config folder. Regardless, legacy MQ2 dlls don’t work with MQ so you shouldn’t copy any dlls over.

Glad to hear you got it working otherwise.

We need a big, fuck off, warning sign that says "Don't copy your shitty legacy .dll files from your old MQ2 folder!"

Being newer to the community still I've really been putting off upgrading and trying out next even though I reallllly wanted to before. If It ain't broke mentality and that has worked thus far. Today during the downtime I deiced to leave the reservation so to speak! I watched Sic's video on migrating and ran the script and finally took the leap. I was impressed with MQ2 before but am blown away by next thus far now that the servers are up. The setting windows and whatnot are amazing. I'm a linux guy mostly so have no problem with the command line but man, sometimes a GUI is just nice.

Migration was a breeze and everything appears to be running fine as is - more or less turn key for my setup (I realize my setup is probably pretty simple but nevertheless).

Thank you for the work brainiac/all else involved - tip inc!

you rock, paxx!

nicely done dude

I still use wineq2 for the monitor management of certain characters load on certain monitors. If you develop a plugin or make autologin give me that configurability, I'll gladly stop using wineq2 and paying for it. ;)
This is exactly why I use wineq. It is a lot better when each instance of EQ goes to the screen I want it to.
