ok, i need some simple setup for this next .....
I just went ahead deleted all my redguides folders....
I installed the new Next version of my CWTN plugins, there called ( nextmonk, nextmage , etc )
I go to my launcher and hit start EQBC server
none of my characters want to listen to me .....follow, chase, come to me etc any ideas
playing on rizlona
you'll want to either migrate those nav files, or re-down load them then, because you can't do nav stuff without meshesno sir, i deleted it all , because honestly, i had so much stuff everywhere
carpunky, now , i cant even run it lol...... it says to run mq2auth.exe but i cannot find it anywhere in my files
it looks like you reinstalled after this post - did you get all sorted out?no, i did a clean install....
Went away for the weekend. Just did an update to the latest Next client (249?) and attempted to start up my characters using the auto login profile (nothing I haven't done many times before). Near instant crash. Tried on another character, same deal. Hopefully the crashes are caught in the crash submission processes. Rebooted machine. Same crash. Unloaded Next and started up first character, then loaded Next. No crash. Unloaded Next and finished loading in remaining characters, loaded Next. No crash. So far, so good.
I did remove it when I saw the text for it. I don't use it and forgot about it being loaded. Thanks for confirming.
Forgot to say in my original post the dialogs (two) for the crash indicated a problem in the main dll. My unloading farmtest was coincidental to the information I was given.
Updated Overview to add Sic and ChatWithThisName to people who can see automatic crash dumps.
MQ Live first, then I installed MQNext , each in their own folder, I used the tool to transfer data from Live to Next as in the guide.Uhhh... That sounds sort of like you have autologin setup wrong, but there's nothing we do that would cause you to get disconnected even in the case you have it setup wrong. Are you using anything else besides MQ? IsBoxer? WinEQ?
I am not. lolYou're not running old and new at the same time are you?
Yes, copy MQ2AutoLogin.ini to your config folder. Can I copy the auth info from Live folder to MQNext ?
I Copy / Paste and Replaced MQ2AutoLogin.ini , same issue. *UPDATE I moved .dll also.Yes, copy MQ2AutoLogin.ini to your config folder.
as for the other message, you’re sure you’re getting to character select?
Are you running Windows 7? If so you should upgrade to Windows 10. Microsoft’s support for Windows 7 ended in January of 2020 and there are a LOT of vulnerabilities that will never be patched for Windows 7."The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." and
"Could not load MQ2Main.dll or one of its dependencies, MacroQuest will now exit."
The plugin dlls for Next sit in the plugins folder, not in the config folder. Regardless, legacy MQ2 dlls don’t work with MQ so you shouldn’t copy any dlls over. What about MQ2AutoLogin.dll ? There is not one in MQNext\Release\config when I reinstall via the launcher.
I moved both .ini and .dll , Still booted at character select.
We need a big, fuck off, warning sign that says "Don't copy your shitty legacy .dll files from your old MQ2 folder!"
you rock, paxx!Being newer to the community still I've really been putting off upgrading and trying out next even though I reallllly wanted to before. If It ain't broke mentality and that has worked thus far. Today during the downtime I deiced to leave the reservation so to speak! I watched Sic's video on migrating and ran the script and finally took the leap. I was impressed with MQ2 before but am blown away by next thus far now that the servers are up. The setting windows and whatnot are amazing. I'm a linux guy mostly so have no problem with the command line but man, sometimes a GUI is just nice.
Migration was a breeze and everything appears to be running fine as is - more or less turn key for my setup (I realize my setup is probably pretty simple but nevertheless).
Thank you for the work brainiac/all else involved - tip inc!
This is exactly why I use wineq. It is a lot better when each instance of EQ goes to the screen I want it to.I still use wineq2 for the monitor management of certain characters load on certain monitors. If you develop a plugin or make autologin give me that configurability, I'll gladly stop using wineq2 and paying for it.![]()
