Wonder if the lag spikes I recently got comes from Mq2, every time a process is made I got a stuttering in the game.
Are you talking about MQ2 or MQ? MQ is this resource. The “your integrity has been preserved” message that causes you to freeze in MQ2 doesn’t exist in MQ. Although, to be clear, MQ2 doesn’t offer any more protection than what is offered in MQ.
I doubt there really is any advantage to use this one.. make the icon blue does not really change the overall performance =P
The icon is actually purple, not blue. But on what information are you basing the assumption that that’s the only thing that we changed? You can look at the repo in the first post to see the number of bugs that have been fixed, and while we did eventually stop tagging them the majority of bugs tagged “legacy” still exist in MQ2. But I am genuinely curious why you believe the only thing we changed was the icon?
The stupid thing is apparently not reading Sic's spoiler post. I think I can get all the normal items back up....
I think the important take away for others from the trouble you had was just — run the migrator. I think it handles everything you ran into.
 
I just switched to mqnext a few days ago. At first everything worked great. Now over the last day or so I no longer have any mobs OR camp/puller circles showing on map. It makes no difference if I click on any of the layer buttons or the label button. The only thing showing is hunter mob labels no other npc's or mobs. I've restarted. loaded and unloaded plugins, etc and nothing makes any change.

I'm using brewall maps.

Wow, I must say that new Frame limiter is amazing! I configured it to what Sic recommends and this is what I'm getting on my 6-man team. Specs is an Intel 9700k, 32gb ram, and an RTX 3080.

Just wanted to give you some feedback i have experienced so far as a new user of MQ (next). I love VV as its existed and upgraded just recently . I have found the transition mostly smooth with the migrator tool. Upon running it, found my Eq instances to load up faster and seems generally more stable. The Lua add-ons run like plug-ins verses macros, which is far better. As well as some things are built in or easily turned on, instead of added on such as the old MQ2Targetinfo, which was smartly broken into 3 options to turn on/off.

I dislike change, but to make your game time run smoother and technologically better, its going to take a bit of change fir the users (us) and the RG creators to get it all perfect. Before we know it, we will all be back on relying on the Launcher to update everything super easily as we had gotten used to. Anyways, just some thoughts from me, hope you try it and see if you find a similar experience.
 
upgraded to mqnext do not see a macroquest ini anymore
instead have macroquest, macroquest default, and macroquest overlay.
none of the files have a captions list section
is there a way to change this inmq2next
 
The servers came down last night a couple of times (I'min the UK so cant translate to US times im sorry) and since then corpses dont get looted and autogroup doesnt invite everyone when I log in? Is this rtelated to the patch (my game is up to date and i reinstalled next and updated all addons0 but corpses just keep piling up around me and advloot doesnt show anything for the end crates for The call or Zlandicar. The group thing i can handle but might be indicative of something more serious wrong with my install if its not an expected error. Anyone able to clarify if this is just me or expected or something else i havent thought of?

that sounds like a setup error.

make sure you did the migrator after you got next setup to transfer all your settings and configurations.

1. download next via the RG launcher
2. hit the migrator tool (will move any configs/macros etc from old install https://www.redguides.com/community/resources/macroquest-migrator.2156/
3. setup framelimiter https://www.redguides.com/community/threads/mqnext-framelimiter-demo.78448/
4. load mq2lua /plugin Lua
5. if you want the functionality of the MQ2 "MQ2TargetInfo"
- They are now in 3 separate plugins:
/plugin groupinfo
/plugin targetinfo
/plugin xtarinfo

mental notes:
1. mq2map click is Control+Shift+Click
2. new easyfind self travel is Control+Click (reminder in find window title bar)
3. new easyfind group travel is Control+Shift+Click
4. If you selected a destination in your zone guide and want to activate it you /travelto activate

well autogroup needs you connected with your toons using eqbc and eqbcs for example. it is a common issue folks run into where they end up with 2 eqbcs running and then can't connect properly. I'd suggest maybe rebooting and relaunching your crew.

autogroup will invite a toon once, and only in zone while connected as mentioned.

for autoloot, I've had bad luck using autoloot on next, and i switching to lootly because of that
 
Mine was running whatever comes free with veryvanilla :| autogroup worked though i am running dannet not eqbc and hadnt setup an eqbc server and the looting was handled by whatver addon usually handles it in next. guess ill have to rip everything down and start again?
 
If loot isn't showing up in advloot, that's something wrong in general. But autogroup is just looking for spawns joining the zone and the plugin itself hasn't changed in a while. As Sic said, can you describe in detail each of the issues?
 
Logged out all char night before. Got home from work patched/updated EQ and MQ, went to login group 1. sk, shm, ber, ber, ber, bst, brd. Shm and bst never even got a invite. Login group 2, war, clr, rog, rog, rog, brd. Clr never got invite. Login group 3, sk, shm, enc, mag, mag, bst. enc and mage 2 never got invite. All in a spun up GH.

Figured it was weird that so many didnt get invite (not failure to accept, they never got invited), so logged them all back out, tried again. group 1 ber x2 didnt get invites. group 2 all logged in fine. group 3, enc and mag 1 didnt get invites. Tired of messing with it, just sent hand invites, they auto accepted, played for 5 hours.

Logged out active char, put traders in over night. Come back this morning, logging in all 3 groups, only 1 failure (bst from grp 3).
 
this is very frustrating still. never, ever, not once happened before switching to Next. I understand the error is an EQ error, but Next, 100%, is when it started happening.

Randomly my eqclient file is reverted back to defaults, UI is completely out of sorts, movement keys, spell particles, etc.

There has to be a log file or something i can post to help figure this out, a dump file, crash file, something
 
Fixed both issues by flat out reinstalling VeryVanilla though advloot was somehow turned off so probably that was jut a misclick on my part. Luckily Im too new to have done much customising so it wasnt a hard process.

also, haven't looked through all the forums yet, but was wondering about mq2linkdb.. i use it often and noticed it doesn't send a tell/whisper. also just trying to link a couple items showed "found 0 items from database of 77 total items" in the mq2 window?... am i doing it right? do i need to update any item.txt or any file or should they be included from the migration tool?

Still happening, auto login works for about 1/2 of toons, sometiems more, sometimes less, then everyone logged in crashes with these errors. When that happens, eqclient.ini gets rest to defaults, all future toons are logged in with new models, no mapped keys, mouse settings jacked, etc. When i log everyone back in, their UI is all out of sorts as it sizes the window to a different resolution. Only started happening when i went to next, no issues, ever, prior to next.

Sorry, I'm not saying that it's not next related. I'm saying that I can't reproduce it and there's nothing in the call stack to help me narrow it down, so I need more to go on in order to figure out what's going on. But the eqclient.ini isn't something we touch, so that part of it isn't something next is directly causing (it may be related to the crash, but we're not writing to the eqclient.ini).

The simple fix to this is, loading your toons in Windowed mode. If you load your toons full screen you will constantly get this crash because you are trying to load too many at a time and its graphic intensive for computers with built in graphics cards rather than external graphics cards. Now the kicker to this is. Once you have loaded all your toons, you will want to keep them windowed, because if you plan to play a while , zoning will cause you the same crash eventually.

if you're able to swing by discord sometime brain (and the rest of us) would like to try and see if we can figure out what is causing your issues in real time.

also between then and now can you take a peak at your registry to see if anything was added in these two locations for your compat flags?

Need to check if windows added something to your compat layer? Check these locations in your registry for anything eq/mq2 related and delete. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

i can hop on discord. I have noticed that the more i am "doing" while the auto login is happening, the better chance of crash. Specifically, i havent' fully tested, but I think Microsoft Teams and/or Outlook, while actively working on those two programs while logging in, seems to cause crash more. It feels if i do nothing and let them log in, chances are better of not crashing. Here are the the reg keys. Interesting, my registry was open to the first path already, so either i already checked that, or did something there in the past (i used to have nav issues just stop working)

I'm not sure if you are running a system with an integrated graphics card and a Radeon. But if you are see if in your bios, you have the onboard working at the same time. Could be a handling issue.

The eqclient.ini file is for sure the cause of the crash, which is why i keep a backup now so i can just copy / paste when it happens. Same with mq2react file, that thing is resetting itself like mad now on next for some reason, so always have a backup file.

Delete the entry for eqgame.exe
 
Window switching is extremely slow and feels like a window maximizing or minimizing instead of an already maximized window being made "on top". Is there a setting to control this behavior I'm missing? Alt tabbing between windows is extremely fast still.
