Uninstall MQ2 (CWTN plugins questions)

How do I uninstall MQ2? I downloaded MQ2 and set up 4 accounts. I have done all of the instruction videos and bought the SK, Shaman, Enchanter, and Mage plugins.
-Nobody assists anybody.
-Everyone sets camp at zone in, no matter what command I give and runs back there unless I I click the 'follow me' button on my main.
-When I activate the Eskay plugin, he runs around killing stuff but, my view straight up at the sky. I cannot see what he is doing or change the view. I cannot enjoy the game because I cannot see it.
-The other 3 grouped characters, Shaman, Enchanter and Mage just stand there and don't offer any assistance. The shaman will heal. I do have them all grouped and have the SK as the tank and them as in assist mode. The pets don't attack. My SK is running basically solo with a Shaman healer, My Merc can do that.

I am so frustrated. I have been trying to get this to work for almost 2 weeks and now I am thoroughly disgusted with Everquest in general.
I know it is me. I even purchased a new computer thinking it was my old computer that was not working right.
But, as the saying goes: maybe it is the Indian and not the arrow. Apparently this Indian is not computer savvy enough to make this work.

I just want to uninstall MacroQuest, take a few weeks break (and possibly never go back) from Everquest due to the extreme frustration.
The sad part is I bought four 1 year subscriptions and paid the raise to Herioc level 3 of the accounts to play with my main.
What a waste of money as I cannot figure out how to make any of it work for me.

Step 1 is to ask questions. There's a million resources around here with answers to many questions, and people too.
All of the class plugins have FAQs and there is a whole CWTN class plugin overview with hours worth of videos and guides to use the plugins.

Just borrowing these from Sics sig (trimmed down to seemingly relevant ones):

CWTN Vid: >>> Getting Started with CWTN plugins! (Movement, UI Window, Clickies, Pulling, ETC) Check Here First! <<<
CWTN Class Vids: MQ2Enchanter || MQ2Eskay || MQ2Mage || MQ2Shaman || CWTN UI
Other Videos: Basic MQ2 Overview || "How I Move My Group Around" || MQ2Camera OverView || MQ2AutoGroup/MQ2AutoAccept/MQ2Yes
Other Videos: Auto Load Luas? || Framelimiter
My Resources: Sic's Hotkeys

Toons setting camp at zone in means you had the plugins unpaused and in a camp mode when entering the zone. You can use commands like /shd resetcamp to move your camp, or change modes to one that unsets your camp, etc. That's probably covered quite a bit in Sics how i move my toons video.

Constantly looking up at the sky is due to MQ2Nav moving your character. You most likely want to play in a 3rd person view (press F9 or use the mouse wheel at least). First person view in EQ is awful in general. I would understand why you are disgusted with the game if that's how you're playing!

Characters assist when they are running in a mode which assists, and the appropriate group roles are set, which should be explained throughout those links above. Try setting the assist classes to chase mode and setting your SK as the group main assist / main tank in the EQ group window.

That said, uninstalling MQ is a matter of deleting the folder where you installed it to, and using windows add/remove programs to uninstall the RedGuides launcher. But that'd be a shame after getting all those plugins.

Also its definitely worth it to /testcopy your characters and try the plugins for free on test before buying, especially if you don't know how to really use them yet.

have you tried discord for questions? have you tried reading? This stuff is not rocket science but to understand it you have to read and be at least competent.

I can totally relate to the rant - this stuff is not for the weak.

I'm a professional programmer by day and have dealt with constant frustration for years on why stuff behaves unexpectedly, so I'm used to the struggle. Although sometimes I'm just banging my head against the wall wondering why the damn toons aren't returning to camp or not attacking or some shit, but I don't take these tools for granted.
This stuff is insanely powerful and complex by nature, and it takes time and effort to get things working properly.

But really the biggest thing with MQ is learning *how* to diagnose issues, whether it's by posting an issue here on RG, modifying a macro and putting an `/echo whatever` debug statement, or reading more docs/watching sic's videos. It takes a long time to master all this stuff, and you have to enjoy that aspect, otherwise you'll end up posting multi-paragraph long rants and just feel bad.

you can just delete your mq folder to "uninstall mq2" there's nothing else to do.

sounds like you skipped the sticky, but i can understand your frustration.

The stuff in this sticky - like how to save settings, or manage your team (changing modes and moving around and such) is paramount to having a good experience. if you don't know how to do that, or just decided not to - you're going to have a bad time - managing your team (getting them to do what you need/want them to do is just as important as the automation you use).

The cwtn plugins try and make things as straightforward there as possible - but they can't read your mind for intent.

mode 1 "assist mode" sets a camp, and will return you to it if you are not in it. when you're looking to move around, simply pausing your toons to drag them around is going to give you bad results - put them in chase mode, or manual mode - otherwise when you unpause them, they're going to try and go back to the location their camp was set at - because they're still in assist mode so they're going to try and do their very best to follow what they've been asked to do.

dragging them around with followme or come to me - yeah that's why they don't assist you, because you set them in an assist mode, where they set a camp, and you're dragging them around outside of their camp. they're not going to attack anything outside of their camp.

if you want to drag them around set them in chase mode.

checking out the sticky that says "Check Here First!" will really help you out.

Please see >>> Getting Started with CWTN plugins! (Movement, UI Window, Clickies, Pulling, ETC) Check Here First! <<<

MQ/RG/EQ will be here when you come back.

regarding you "cant see anything" scroll your mousewheel out. this isn't 1999. the automation is going to look up at the mob's hitbox, which often will look like the sky if you are scrolled all the way in.

sorry sic this approach requires reading and trying. I don't think its going to work.. best uninstall, move to new address and post random shit on forums because I don't understand

A lot of great suggestions provided by the people of redguides here. If you're determined to stop playing EQ and want a refund for the CWTN Plugins I don't mind providing it since all of your licenses for them are only either 5 (Shaman, Mage, Enchanter, or 7 days old (Shadow Knight). You would need to shoot me a PM to go over the specifics so I can find the transactions to refund them. But I do hope you'll give it another shot with some support from the community/guides that are available to help get you going.

I run the exact same group as you have -
SK
Shm
ench
3x mage
shoot me a PM and ill help you any way i can

Its a little work to get going if your starting from scratch - but you will have a nice group to plow thru stuff once you get it down

What is likely happening is you have your characters set on assist. You want to have them on chase.
Provided that you have mq2boxr loaded, you can simply issue the following command
/dgze /boxr chase
Now that this is done, your character will stop 'camping' at zone in. To make them truly follow your dude, you need to make your SK the main tank & main assist of your group.
Right click his name, and assign the roles (provided that you are group leader).

I've been using the RG mq2 + plugins for a little less than a month, I feel you. I am having frustration of this kind everyday, lol.

There are even Sic's hotkeys listed in the sticky that you can almost just copy and paste to do exactly what you want. Skipping that sticky thread is a massive mistake

My small 2 copper in this discussion..
Been doing IT a longggg time. And configured a lot of automation scripting, mobile device management, IT Security, you name it.
Been in EQ since 2K.
Started with Linux box running seq.
Ran MQ when it was the "new" thing.. and later moved here to RG.

Having done a buttload of different programs and systems to automate all sorts of things from web design to scripting to eq to linus to CNC programming even..

Something to keep in mind is this....... EVERY NEW system is DIFFERENT. THIS ALL takes getting used to, you are learning a whole new way to play the game. Everything you did or thought before is different. THAT BEING SAID...... My personal advice, after having had to re-learn how everything works here in RG land.

Start with your tank. Learn to make him do what you want with junk mobs in safe zones. Try one thing... see what happens.. Make him puller tank.. set the distances on that tab.. check the map to see the circle he pulls.. adjust it to an Angle.. learn how to make The TANK only do his thing. (Scroll mouse out to change to a different view, or press F9)
Then add a healer. Figure out how to make the healer do its job.. and stick with you.. BUT.. Not run back! Keep a merc healer up.. play with the merc working.. but start trying to get the SINGLE healer to work.
Once you can keep yourself healed.. and have the healer follow you like you want.. or sit in camp etc.. Make sure you can fight in harder places.
THEN add another once you dont need to worry about tank and healer.. start sorting DPS.

Just work into it one toon at a time.

No disrespect to the crew.. but many of the videos are older.. and made several years back when a plugin was new.. and not all of it is the same.. or some things are not clear if you are just starting. Terms are used and things done that dont always make sense to a new user. Keep that in mind. It would take Sic a TON of time to make new vids for simple things.. and much of it is the same, so its not really realistic. Some documentation for the systems that are a couple years old.. is not always as accurate. AND... there is a entire forum worth of content, tips, tricks, methods.. so keep that in mind.. HARD/Impossible to update ALL of it. AND if you spent 6 months updating.. everything would be different again when done.

Try stuff.. search for it. See what others did to get around it. Learn to use the tool as it works for you.. Be open minded as what you THINK it should do may not be how its designed.

I usually am fine.. and then I forget how to do something I did once 3 months ago.. so I search here for it.. go OH YEAH.. and move on.

Good luck hope things smooth out for you and you are able to approach with a fresh outlook/clear view.

I update a lot of stuff every day. If some documentation is out of date, say something.

I do make a concerted effort to use "future thinking" language like - " we have no plans on doing that at this time", or "we do not plan on doing that at this time".

All videos are obvious a "snapshot" in time, ice mentioned it in a couple of vids - I wish i could go back and reiterate that Everytime and quite frankly, someone skipping the documentation, and vids, and guides, and commands, and FAQ isn't going to notice anyhow.

I've rewritten and reworked the alias explanation based on feedback and user input specifically for that reason, and next update we'll create some baseline aliases if they don't already exist, just to eliminate that step.

Documentation should be updated and accurate where possible, a lot of time is spent on it - obviously it should be correct.

You'd be hard pressed to find me telling someone to get the class plugins - I personally think that MQ can be very overwhelming and think it is important to get a little basic understanding before jumping into additional things like cwtn plugins. Using nav, moving your toons around, etc.

I also encourage people to explore and try the systems that fit their needs the best - to do that, trying several options will give you a stronger footing with anything you settle on.

I had already addressed the OPs points in my previous post, but lots of good points folks are making.

MQ further adds complexity to an already extreme complex game - eq might not be *hard*, but it is complex.

Trying to learn all of things in a single sitting is going to feel overwhelming, you have to give yourself space to learn, and fail

I understand this. I am only semi-tech oriented and this stuff can be a pita to set up. My suggestion would be starting with level 1s to test out the software. With Kissassist it takes a lot of trial and error to get your toons to act how you want them to. IF your toons are set to return to camp in Kissassist or Muleassist they will automatically return to whereever they were when you turned it on, which is a pita. I am not sure about the Eskay plugin. I haven't used that yet to know what would be causing the screenview problem.

I too have noticed not getting much help from others when dealing with these issues. I generally will just read through premade INI files to see how others are setting things up to see where I may be missing something.

Well this was to and about the cwtn plugins, I do personally answer every post.

I already answered the camera view thing - did you read the responses or just the original post

Over the few years I've been using RG, I've seen the exact opposite of a dearth of help. Is it as active as Reddit? No, but there a dozen very active users here answering questions daily, even if the response requires some effort on the inquirer's part, such as reading and following directions (e.g. OP's problems are all addressed either in the first response by Aquietone or in Sic's hotkeys resources); everything from Windows issues, UI problems, patch bugs, or code or settings for Lua, KA, CWTN, or other plugins. Discord is even more active.

You can lead a horse to water...

if you're not getting help you are either A. not asking in discord in addition to forums and or B. Not paying attention to responses, ignoring information when its provided, not reading guides given and or so far disconnected from what these tools do its hopeless.

@Migley619 Make sure your characters are grouped, make sure the SK is set to Group Tank, and also set to Main Assist. Never forget the Main Assist role. That's all native EQ best practice, not MQ2.

Only the SK should be in Tank mode (or Tank Puller, or Sic Tank, you need to read up on what these do). Everyone else should be in Assist or Chase mode, depending on what you are doing. If you can't get it sorted out, can I haz your Mage plugin subscription?

To be very honest, the CWTN plugins are one of the easiest and safest way to run a team, without any knowledge of how to play a toon. One thing you may have to do is load the default UI for EQ and it is all covered in the videos they provide. Whats even better is, if your not happy they will and are offering your money back!
The MQ part is as basic as it gets using the launcher. Run the launcher it stays updated and lets you run MQ with the press of a button. Once you press the button, MQ is loaded and is running, no fuss or mess or special command lines.

Take a deep breath step back and see what you think. Either way do whats going to make you happy.

Some people would be better served by hiring a technically proficient friend to help them get things setup and configured. We're not all capable of that logical slant of mind that understands cause and effect.

It sounds like you've forked out a lot of money on the game without really taking the time to learn (or re-learn if you're a returning player) the basics. There's a lot to learn between level 1 and 83 and skipping all those levels trying to get to the "end game" will likely leave anyone wondering what the hell is going on.

Start out with the likes of Kissassist, updating all the ini files helps you learn what the programs are doing and updating them every five levels or so keeps you in the loop as to what they are doing. There are lots of player uploaded ini files for whatever levels you are on, after a while you will begin to see what they are doing.

RGMercs seems (to me) to work better once your toons are a bit older. It also has the benefit of not constantly needing to be updated every few levels like KA does (simply reload RGMercs when you hear that DING). Once again after a while reading the ini files you can start seeing how you can improve things for your own play style.

Seriously though, I simply can't stress how important those lower levels are. They are a training ground for a game that has been in constant development for almost 25 years now, I can't think of any other game with a record that long. Even if you used to play "Back in the days", there's so much new stuff to learn within the game itself let alone adding to your confusion by trying to completely automate the game (which is ultimately what this whole RG scene is about).

Four years ago I created a FTP shaman and wizard thinking I could two-box them with mercs. Then I found this site and community. Now I've got 24 accounts, almost all over level 100 and one group full of 120s and every class represented. All of them have been played through from level 1. It's highly addictive once you're hooked, good luck to other games trying to get my attention anyway! All but one of my accounts are FTP too, no way can I afford to keep that many at "All Access".

Take your time, don't be afraid to ask questions here (probably not such a good idea in-game) and enjoy the game.

I am a tech simpleton. I totally understand your frustrations. I have often shared them. But personally I have had the opposite experience with The Plugins and Red Guides. I would like to take my limited experience and share it with you.
I believe you could have a great experience with the plugins. I would like to help try to make that happen.

im very thick when it comes to this stuff and have only been using this a couple of months, but im 4 boxing with 2 mercs and apart from reading everything possible the way ive found that helped me was to set my puller as tank mq2 mode 5, the rest i left stationary in camp doing nothing execept suck xp(start in a zone where mobs are spread out and green) then ive added them one at a time assigning roles so you can get used to what each char is doing and how, then add anothers instructions untill all are up and running,it took me time this way but it helped me understand how each one was ineracting with the others. Now i have moved into proper xp zones with a full understanding on how they will react with each other.
