Release Overseer (2 Viewers) 04/27/2026

No permission to download
So any idea why this overseer lua won't pick agents to fill any quests? It runs conversions just fine, claims rewards just fine, just doesn't choose agents when it chooses a quest to run.
One additional question. Does your Overseer have the [Autofill] button?
1682789484994.png

This feature was added to EQ a couple months ago and the script ditched the complex other mechanisms in favor of this simpler one.

If you have a custom UI Skin without that, I would imagine this may be an issue.
If that is the case, we can help get that button added to your custom UI. MUCH easier and faster way to do things.

YEAH! This was my issue. Thanks man!

Ok so find a UI to patch that button in....that must be it. I'm using Sparxx, there must be an update with his UI

A quick-fix option is to rename the file for Overseer in the Sparxx directory: EQUI_OverseerWnd.xml

Your Overseer window will just revert to default.

If you want to paste your copy of that file here, can try to add the button for you.

is a shame yet another resource here no longer able to be used on Test server. glad I did not pay for this one like I did for another and get ripped off since I do not play on Live servers.

Is this not working for you in Test? I admit I haven't tried in a few months, but it should function unless EQ designers are making some UI changes.

I'll give 'er a run through later today and see how it goes.

Re: test, unfortunately, that is the nature of the test server. Pros and cons. Pro - free all access, cons - they're always breaking it (changes, not necessarily breaks) and take it down at least twice as often.

Take zone connections on test, been broken in-game for months and months.

I'm sorry to hear that was your experience, and that has colored your thoughts about RG and the resources available.

sorry to say it is not working, I love using Overseer but unfortunately have not been able to use since this last update after the UI update.

very true, just wanted to bring to attention to the authors so they may or may not be able to fix.

Getting this after it collects, rotates, starts 1 quest. I do have a number of quests that can select and autofill on all of my settings are defaults.

Is this happening every time you try to run it? On all characters (if more than one)?

I'm sure this is a problem on my end but I have no clue what it is.
Currently on my main PC I'll run up to 13 accounts. My machine was built this year and can handle far more if I wanted to. But when the overseer Lua runs some of the accounts seem to lag to high hell. typically its the same account so I'm thinking its a character thing. Especially with my main character I can not do a damn thing until it eventually runs through it or I go on another toon and /dex <toon> /Lua stop overseer to get out of it. I just rebooted my PC and literally 12 of the accounts ran the script on reload with my main's account lagging to high hell still trying to finish it.
Any suggestions?

Overseer has lag. Check out the EQ forums. Running it on 13 toons will not make it better. There will be lag.

I suggest running it during times when the lag doesn't matter.

If i'm going to be mainually running it then there isn't much use for the Lua to auto run it for me... I wasn't having this issue until about a month or two ago, was hoping it'd clear up. I think I messed up a setting someplace when trying to trouble shoot other things. As it is mainly happening on one toon.

I haven't seen this issue but only have a small handful of characters.

Is this an issue if you launch all 13 Lua/Overseer at once - but not if they're staggered?

If that's the case, the resolution may be to have the launch of it slightly offset from each other.

Again, just a thought up top to see if I understand the problem correctly, but whether a random delay in the launcher, yourself manually, or something in the script.

I would say it's nothing to do with Overseer.Lua as I have not experienced the issue with 30 toons running it startup and at the same intervals. I would say its more of a computer/video/memory issue. Granted I use frame limiter and 29 of my toons use the minimum visual settings with stick figures, but even on my second comp and laptop without minimal settings I have run 10 toons without issues.

I would open up task manager to start and see what is running, what kind of resources your computer is running at. Do some memory tests and video card tests.

Lot of guides out there for setting up your computer for maximum gaming efficiency.

I had someone send me a screenshot of their task manager/desktop once, I wasn't to surprised with their issues after I seen 30 plus icons running in the task bar.

It lags the hell out of me too - to the point the character is unplayable. Even running it only on one toon. I do use a custom UI so wondering if that has anything to do with it. Running this .Lua will turn my character into a slide show with one movement/update every 5 seconds; it is literally that bad.

Edited to add: running on a laptop with 6 accounts. Every account running frame limiter and absolutely nothing else running but EQ and MQ2. I have done all the antivirus etc permissions for both EQ and MQ2, logs are off, all the extra stuff turned off; essentially I have done the 'things' one normally does when experiencing lag. Only this Lua locks me up. Lag goes away if I stop the .Lua.

Running task manager shows memory and disk use pretty high even w/o .Lua running: CPU 84%, Memory 90% and Disk 5%. Maybe I am just at the limit of what this laptop can do? It's HP i5 2.40 GHz with 8 GB RAM.

Boring, have you tried running Overseer with only one account on? See if still acts the same. I very seldomly still run a group of 6 in stick figure low mem usage and some actions work smooth, some, like turning, cause a little issue. Opening a 7th account is more than that old laptop likes. In my case, I'm talking about a 10 year old Intel with 16 Gb ram.

How do you run in stick figure mode? (I like your suggestion of running Overseer with only one account on, but then even if it was smooth as butter whats the point? I would never log on one toon at a time just to run it - at that point, it would be faster to run it myself.

Run it

with only one character on, and after a nice computer reboot to clear out your memory. This would at least check to see if it is the Lua that is causing you the issue, OR if more accounts are eating up the memory and THEN causing an odd lag. Then try 2 Characters, etc.
Stick figure mode is in your EQ ini file, in eq directory. just turn it on.

For the stick figures you have to edit your eqclient.ini file inside your main Everquest directory and add / change StickFigures=1

We can experiment with a few things but as mentioned above, I don't think it's the script directly but the Overseer itself running so many at the same time.

I haven't seen this problem but only run 6-7.

Question - this is only while the process is actively running quests, and not while sitting 'Idle', correct?

I want to share some details of what I believe is an known Everquest bug, and how it affects this Lua.

One of my Gold characters can only have 1 Max Active Quests at a time. It's described on the offical Everquest forum. It appears the Lua is interpreting into received from EQ as a negative amount of time until the Next Rotation should be run. The Next Rotation time stays static, at -1h.59m.59s. The MQ Console is spammed as you see below.

If I toggle on Automatically Restart, this Lua will run the Rotation endlessly.

I plan to petition for my character to be fixed. However, as this issue goes back to 2021 based on official forum posts, I suspect they will only fix my character and won't fix the core issue they still haven't fixed 18 months later.

If you want additional details of what I am experiencing before I petition, please let me know.

I only started running this a day ago, but this Lua has run flawlessly on about 20 other characters. Thank you for the amazing tool!

The auto conversion of agents seems broken. I set Common to 3 but it's running conversions when I have 3, putting their number down to 2.

I'm watching it continually run conversion quests on agents when I only have 3 of them.

Right now the fix it to put these numbers 1 higher than they should be as instructed, as the math right now is "run conversion if you have this many agents" and not "put the agents down to this number"

It ended up converting all the way down to 2 agents with 3x each.

Yah, it probably should read, Amount of agents to own before converting. I have all of mine set at
Once I have enough level 3 common agents, they convert and so on.
Common 3
Uncommon 4
Rare 5
Elite 10

In overseer.Lua this is the line is specifying greater than or equal to that number.
Code:
if (tonumber(amount) >= agentCountForConversion) then

I have this also, but only occasionally - its usually fixed with an overseer restart. Weird that you have this constantly, and I only get it once in a while.

Edit: I only have the -2hr loop, not the 1/1 active quest state, at least not to my knowledge

Any ideas how I can automate running overseer on 1 char, logging out when done and running a bazaar alt, until its time for a Overseer mission completion, then log out the bazaar alt, do the overseer cycle on the main, and repeat?

Only issue I had was not converting after claiming. I ended ups swapping the additional claim with the collect all rewards so it would convert after getting the dispenser fragments, instead of converting them on the next run. Either way they eventually get claimed, but anyway. hehe
Code:
CollectAllRewards() if Aborting then return end
ClaimAllAdditionalItems() if Aborting then return end
UpdateTimers() if Aborting then return end

Same account? You should be able to run overseer on any toon on a single account. Or does the toon have to be 85?

Not sure if you could do a Lua that would work, but as long as the Lua script was still running to perform the actions I don't see why not.

I actually added a snooze button on my overseer to snooze the script until the next quest completion, basically just stops the Lua and then starts it back up with a /timed (amount of time left) /Lua run overseer, but this won't switch toons.
