Question - Managing bandolier item placement?

I'd like to avoid having weapons/shields mixed in with other items and placed randomly in my bag when I bando-swap them - but I don't know if that is possible.

I have the equipment keyring and a bando-swap will take stuff from the keyring but it then places any item not in the bandolier set (i.e. items it removes) back in a bag (i.e. not the key-ring) in whatever space it can find.

It doesn't look as if locked slots will help either.

Does anyone have a good solution where the placement of items is respected or slots are reserved (for example, always reserves slot 1 and 2 in my top bag or always uses the equipment keyring?). Or some other strategy?

In on this one, as I am interested as well. Bandolier is very handy, but it would be really nice if it returned items to the slots they were taken from. I *thought* that locking a slot and ticking the box in the bandolier to use locked slots would accomplish this initially, as you did, but no such luck.

Yep. The only thing I can think of is to have an item that will occupy your shield slot and that is moved when you switch to a 2-hander (to make way for the shield). And then moved back when you switch to a one-hander. That might be doable with hotkeys maybe - not sure.

I'm interested to see if anyone has an elegant solution!

There was supposed to be implementation so that the bando could "use locked slots" if you toggled an option and also use the equipment keyring. I do believe it is still not implemented correctly. From what I understand, what is happening is that it will pull things out properly, but not put them back properly into either the keyring or a locked slot. I am not aware of a RG inventory manager that will put certain items in a certain bag slot. I had a bando setup for my SK that would equip sword and board for named and I just dealt with the randomness of the item placement. One thing you can do is, if you are running a group, have someone that doesn't bando swap as the Master Looter so that your inventory slots don't change as often.

The Bandolier plugin will swap stuff into the slot it got the new item out of. It works fine as long as all slots you are changing have an item in them, but has problems with say a dual wield to 2hander type of thing. I did manage a workaround on that, using Excange plugin directly to move the extra item (seconday) first, then Bandolier plugin to swap the rest.

Which plugin? Do you have links for those? I am not familiar with them.

While not really elegant, I think I have a workaround that I will try when we are back up and running.

The issue for me is really just on one toon and it arises when I switch to a 2hander. What I want is to always use the same 2 slots whenever I switch weapon sets. When I switch to my 1-hand and shield, the 2-hander only takes up one slot so a slot is left empty and can get filled with loot, etc. ... which results in my shield ending up somewhere random, mixed up with loot items.

OK, as I don't use the ammo slot on this toon, I just added my compass to the ammo slot on the 2-hand bandolier set. That way, when I switch to a 1-hand and shield, the compass sits in the bag slot that I want reserved for my shield when I switch back to a 2-hander.

However, when I do switch to my 2-hander, the shield doesn't go into that slot - it goes into a later slot in my bag. I assume this is something to do with the way the bandolier sequences moving items. For whatever reason, the compass goes in the right place when I switch to a 1-hander but the shield doesn't when I switch to a 2-hander. So, I just need to move the shield to the slot I want it in. I'm going to try "/exchange "shieldnamehere" pack1 3" (which is the slot I want it in) and add that line to my 2-hand hotkey.

Clunky, but should keep my shield in a reserved place. That way, it is less likely to get mixed up with loot I plan on tributing (which is the situation I want to avoid as I don't want to tribute it when I'm not paying attention!)
