IRL - Happy Veterans Day !

Thank you to those men and women who served our nation and helped to keep our way of freedom. Yesterday I sat with some other dad vets at a school Veterans Day celebration, wished some Marines a Happy Birthday for the Corps, saw my goofy pic of young me in uniform on the screen, and saw my daughter light up when that old pic showed up. Loved that moment. I did not grow up that way, but so happy that what seemed stupid to me back then, is something I can convey to my kids and grandkids in a manner to explain pride in service, pride in country.

Canadian here, where it is referred to as Remembrance Day. Makes it tough to say 'Happy', but I get the sentiment. I wish every veteran, and their families, the happiest of times today and all other days. It truly is humbling to think of the sacrifices that were made so that we can enjoy the priviledges that we have.

In Flanders fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,

In the US we have Memorial Day for the somber remembrance of those fallen.
