Tonight I was leveling a new group and they got to 70 so I thought I would buy them some Elegant Defiant gear, now I noticed 2 things, 1. the bazaar was expensive for this shit and 2. I had a way to get as much of it as I ever wanted! FREE! ok ok as pointed out not quite UNLIMITED, you can do this 999 times, but if you cant get what you need after 999 tries then your Gambling Karma is in serious question!

When you buy a Heroic Toon it comes dressed and it is considered new so you can claim a "Gift of Legacies Lost" on it which at 85 would mean you get 3 random pieces of Elegant Defiant gear and a class specific Elegant Defiant Weapon. You can delete and remake a heroic unlimited times! Some of this stuff sells for 5k and up so you can actually make up to 20k every 5 minutes at this! But you would need to sell it in bazaar....

take these steps to get the gear or load up a bazaar toon to make plat...

1. Buy a Heroic (free ones do not count)
2. start a new toon of the class you want elegant in
3. /claim your Gift of Legacies Lost and open all 4 packs
4. parcel them to your other toon ( if its the 1st time on this Heroic parcel the 15k plat too) or better yet park your toon at Crescent reach and hand the stuff off!
5. DELETE the heroic and got to step 2

Enjoy!

its actually not, making a new toon and spawning him in take a few seconds, /claim is pretty instant and then its 4 clicks on 4 items to convert them to gear and a toon to hand them too and done, log and repeat... I did it about 100 times in an hour and the silk robe is worth about 20k fyi

Just to be clear on my level of laziness. I have 105 toons running around with unopened gifts of legacy lost boxes.

i'm so lazy the first post i wast gonna make made me tired and i deleted it

I thought about joining Procrastinators Anonymous, but then I had some other shit to do and although I may get around to it, it just does not fit into my schedule at this time and I think if I wait long enough that my procrastination problem will fix itself....

I'm so lazy I don't even know what a gift of legacies lost box is.
I log in now, wait for my guild to drop a banner, attend raid, help distribute loot and log.
Lol.
I can't even bring myself to macro anymore. Dunno what's wrong with me.

I need my evercrack, I just bought 3 more i7 pcs just to run more eq! I can run about 100 clients if I wanted to.... and I just might! mwahahahahhaa

Seriously though I am currently running 42 clients on a total of 6 PCs and a wall of 6x 24" Monitors, my wife wont even come into my office anymore..... had to install a window AC unit to keep down the heat!

Can the stuff be sold to merchants as well as the bazaar? If so that could open up some interesting possibilities (although a bunch of elegant gear all being sold to the same vendor might raise some questions)

picture of the gear or my insanely stupid 42 clients running? ask anyone who plays with me how many toons I have on on any given day, I am everwhere!
pictures or it didn't happen OP!

I can see no flags being called on, but I like your thinking, this could be a way to make free plat from vendors! hmmmm will test it...

vendor value of most of the gear is 10-50p so it would need to be a lot of toons doing this to make any real plat that way, but bazaar way is good, but slow....

Also, is it really an unlimited amount you can claim, or is it 999? Iirc a lot of the /claim rewards have a limit of 999. They'd essentially be limitless for most people but you wouldn't be able to make all that much money out of it. I'd test it myself but I'm not at my computer.
Of course, this probably wouldn't be a very good source of money. Just setting up a group with kias assist would probably take in more plat.

The original posting was not to "make plat" we are talking about it as a side effect. The OP is to get gear for your toons that cannot be gotten in BAZ, it is a random to farm and you need it to level. and yes 999 is the limit, but seriously if you got the time to do this 999 times then you Sir are a better man then me.

Yeah, I know. I was just considering the possibilities.

I am thankful to others who also consider any and all possibilities, its the best way to learn! Thanks for the input, please never stop!

ONLY on a Rogue and some of it is quite expensive and locked behind progression. Stupid guards see invis and are N A S T Y to a solo player

Just reading down through this discussion and have to ask...is this still viable? I have a group in their 60's and I need to gear them up. Does this still work? Can I use it 999 times if I want? Any updated information on this subject? Has Daybreak since nerfed this? It almost seems to good to be true, and we all know the saying about that concept.

For those reading this thread in the future I have found some references to my questions. I am currently skeptical about the answers because they conflict so much. I really don't want to lose my paid for Heroic character. Anyways here is what I found:

Heroic Character FAQ from 2014.
What happens if I delete my Heroic Character?
If you purchase a Heroic Character and delete it, you can replace that character with another level 85 Heroic Character. This allows players to make one purchase, and try every class if they would like to! If you delete a free character after the trial period, it acts like a normal character deletion.

Daybreak Forums from 2017. Says yes you can on Paid for accounts.

Reddit from 2018. Saying yes.

RG Forums from 2018. Then there is this one and the one that causes me some concern about doing this.

If you buy a heroic character right now, you are limited to 10 deletes. After 10 deletes you lose the available heroic character. Maybe this was a bug, am not sure, but it happened and I had to contact support to get my available HC reinstated. From jackstraw01 on these forums.

So if you read all this then you can see there is a lot of evidence to support the idea of unlimited deletions on a paid account. I found just one instance to the contrary. If there is any current info about this subject (later than 2018) I couldn't find it.

I don’t know where this rumor of limited deletions came from because I’ve created and deleted heroic toons A LOT back when I was selling EoK chase gear. It seems like an unfounded rumor. I also find it interesting that upon contacting customer service the dude was able to get his heroic character back, which tells me if deleting resulted in a permanent deletion it was actually a bug rather than a feature.

Thanks Sum1, exactly the reassurance I wanted to hear. I just started to clean out my Heroic character to try it anyways. Again thanks.

If you were gifted a heroic character on a silver account when they first came out, you cannot delete THAT character and get a new heroic. It warns you as much when you try (I just tried). This is probably where the rumours are from.

There was also another round of free heroics, and THOSE appear to be full heroics ... meaning you can delete and recreate them at will.

when did that heppen

So, is the only way to tell if you have 'trial' or 'paid' Heroic characters from the two promotional times is to hit delete and see a warning message?
I have gotten heroics both times they gave them..but some accounts have both..I'm scared to hit delete and possibly lose one. Grah.

If you hit delete, both prompt you. That message will tell you whether you will get another Heroic character or not.

Just wanted to update this thread:

I deleted my Heroic Necro and created a new Heroic Ranger, cause I wanted some Elegant Defiant Chain armor. No problem on creation and I didn't get the prompt about deletion. This was a purchased Heroic by the way, not a free one. Anyways, I did NOT get the rewards window when I logged into the new character. My character was already wearing Heroic armor and I got no gift boxes. I got the bags and food and drink, but no gift boxes. Hmmm...so thinking something screwed up, and wanting to verify, I deleted and created a new Heroic character. This time a berserker. Same result, no gift boxes or rewards page. I tried to open the "Rewards" from the EQ menu but it had nothing in it.

So I opened a ticket with Daybreak CS. And here is the reply to my ticket. Mind you, this was after my initial question about the Rewards on a Heroic character.

My 2nd question :
Yes I thought there was supposed to be 3 or 4 gift boxes (I think is what they are called) that you get with each Heroic Character. They are supposed to contain armor, food, drinks and various stuff. Am I wrong? I can't remember exactly what was in those boxes when I first created my Heroic. But I distinctly remember a "rewards" type window when I first logged in on my new Heroic. Again thanks for taking the time to answer my questions, it is much appreciated.

And the reply:
Greetings Duvyen,

Heroic Characters receive free items when created. If your character was created as a Heroic Character from the character select screen, then your character would be automatically equipped with the gear. If your character already exists in the game, and is upgraded to a Heroic Character then the free items are granted as rewards in a reward window. Which you would see 3-4 rewards tabs, which you may be referencing as boxes.

Your character is currently equipped with the heroic armor, jewelry and weapons. Also the two Heroic Satchels of the Adventurer are currently in your character's inventory. The food and items are also located inside the Heroic Satchel of the Adventurer which is in the first slot of your character's main inventory.
Sincerely,
Senior GM Woebot

So this appears to be Daybreak's policy to keep people from taking advantage of Elegant Defiant armor in the gift boxes. You get the boxes if you buy a new Heroic character, if you delete that character and create a new one then you don't get the boxes. Answers my question about whether this still a viable way to gear up a level 70 character or not. Guess it's back to the bazaar for me lol. This is the way my luck usually runs.

It doesn't sound that way. It sounds like if you create a heroic from the character creation screen you can't take advantage of the defiant gear thing, BUT, if you create a baby level 1, log him/her in, and THEN go heroic, you WOULD get the boxes (per usual).

Test that out?

The elegant defiant gear comes from the Gifts of Legacies Lost claim reward by typing /claim and selecting it. Most older accounts have 999 of them to claim. The reason for being heroic is so you get the elegant and not the level one gear when you claim the gear.

I looked in my "claims" and I don't show any "Gifts of Legacies Lost" in the window. I created this account Jan 23 2000, so I would think that qualifies as an older account. No idea why.

Sum1:
Test that out?

So I did test it out. 2 different ways. I created a new level 1 character (made sure to turn OFF the Tutorial button lol) and logged in. There is a "Upgrade" button in the Info window, I used that to upgrade that character to Heroic. The character was naked until I claimed the rewards but it was ONLY Heroic equipment and it put all the armor and weps on the character. There were no other rewards to claim. No boxes and when I went back to the rewards window it was empty. Then I tried it with another variation. I created a level 1, then logged in and back out to the character selection screen. Then I upgraded to Heroic from there and logged back in. Same results, I could claim the 2 "Heroic" rewards which dressed the character in all Heroic gear but no boxes, again.

So to reiterate my previous claim that Daybreak has nerfed this "feature" I stand my ground. I feel like they fixed an error they made when they created the whole Heroic experience. And seriously, when have you ever known either Sony or Daybreak to just give things away and NOT fix it later. They always have. "Can't have that, now can we?" Anyways back to the Bazaar for me, but hey, it was worth a try lol.

Try putting a bunch of bullshit cloth armor or something on the lvl 1 before going heroic with him?

Lol ... that’s all I can think of.

I tried to open the "Rewards" from the EQ menu but it had nothing in it.

Just to be clear, did you type /claim?
Only heroic armor, food, bags etc. pop up in your rewards window when you heroic a character that has previously been created.
You have to type /claim in all cases to be able to select Gift of Legacies Lost.

Isn't /claim the same as selecting Claim from the EQ menu (from the EQ button on your UI)? They both open the same window.

If it's that old of an account and has no gifts in its chapeau then I guess they fixed it at some point.

No more ideas here.

Yeah the claim button works too. I wanted to confirm that you weren't clicking the rewards button.

I just deleted a heroic wizard after claiming Gift of Legacies Lost and putting the armor and weapon in the shared bank. Created a heroic berzerker, clicked the Claim from eq window and got Gift again.
It still works. Something must be bugged with your account.

Thanks. I needed another zerker anyway.

Final update to this thread for me. Just got this from Daybreak CS:

GM Woebot here in regards to the Gift of Legacies Lost. Our records show that your account was granted a Legacy Satchel which has already been claimed. As your account was inactive at the time of the Living Legacy Promotion, this account was granted free time, free expansions including the Legacy Satchel claim item, this claim reward was a one time claim and not 999 claims.
Sincerely,
Senior GM Woebot

I guess that explains it, about par for the course for me, wrong place wrong timing. Gotta just shrug over this one lol.
