News - EverQuest Legends 2026 announcement

An old school cross class character with Mana Burn, Life Burn, and Lay of Hands would be fun.

It's interesting they say the alternate classes can fall behind in levels. I wonder if this leaves the door open for being able to switch between more than just those 3 classes? Like can I swap to my DRU/CLR/SHM and buff myself real quick before going back to my main classes?
Depending how much they copy THJ. They had like a week long lockout, I believe.

I hope they leave us alone when that releases and not decide to do a wave of suspensions to encourage people to go there. We can do both leave us alone lol.

I've been an advocate since 1999 that EQ needed true multi-classing...I just doubt they can pull it off in a manner that actually works. I also would get bored super fast with only classic available while using an OP single character. Be just like what we have now with tank mercs pre-75. Yes the game needed mercs, but it isn't built properly for a good game experience.

I played a lot on THJ and it was great. They didnt allow MQ but they integrated a lot of the qol features from MQ into their client. I have BIG doubts this 'new' crew can recreate the lightning in a bottle that was THJ. They've all been around emu for a decade or more and yet none of their projects had the magic that THJ had. It's like when Hollywood takes a literary masterpiece and tries to make a movie about it ..... its never as good and sometimes they screw it up really bad lol.
They've all got dollar signs in their eyes ... only time will tell. They arent friendly to our community and i have no interest playing on a pay for emu server

I liked THJ when I played, mainly because it was free and different.

Solo kind of grew old though after a bit and felt a tad easy so did not take away my boxing urge.
Did you go with one of the optimum builds? I actually found the progression mobs like Nagafen/Vox to be pretty hard to solo on THJ but I choose for fun rather than max effectiveness on my classes.

No, I had not gotten that far before I slowed down in playing.

Yeah I can’t believe most of who they picked…

I see this all as a cash grab. They won't make near as much as they think. This is because DPG are putting their grubby little hands on it. Daybreak is where games go to die. Paid for by the suckers that still grind EQ1 and pay for every illusion or item ornament.

Newest info on their discord ... going to be a 'box cost', subscription price, and a mtx store that sells exp pots and cosmetics.

THJ successfull -> sue them into the ground and steal their ides -> hand off to a diff dev team -> PROFIT

I will be sitting this one out...

I would be all in on this if they didn't sue THJ, and instead hired the team to help innovate on actual EQ they found a unique way that spoke to players.
This could have been a great infusion of passionate EQ devs... instead we got some mafia tactics and a new sub/cash grab lmaoooo

Blatant cash grab but they forgot to launch a Kickstarter too

Heard about EQ coming out with Legends and it caused me to crawl out of my cave and log back into RG for the first time in quite a while. Call me foolish, but I even applied for the closed Beta. The triple class combo sounds intriguing.

By the way, I hope all are doing well, and it’s good to see that RG is still alive and kicking, Be well.

shd - necro - wiz harm touch -manaburn-lifeburn - leech touch - thought leech ( to refill the bars ) - big pet - full spell and dot focii then ya get a lil healer merc ...

This sounds bad. I loved THJ (the server, not the devs of it who screwed the entire community by being greedy). But this EQL is missing so many things that made THJ good. I am sure they will try to copy some of those features but it still looks half assed. I also assume they will monetize the hell out of everything.

The devs have been around emu for quite a while, and haven't created anything a fraction as fun as thj. Just don't know how I really feel, the concept has proven itself, but a poor copy is not ideal.

However, the announcement made me want to play eq again, so not all bad.

It looks like daybreak got an electroshock of some sort.
So much delivery those days!
More than in the combined 15 years!
Game jawn, (really weird name) is apparently a subsidiary company hiring developers from eqEmu community backgrounds.
But i am not in a mood of playing Eq, I might try next winter though.

Game Jawn is a company owned by a known EQEmu user named Secrets - Runs project Quarm. There is much drama around Secrets. I do not know any specifics.

If anyone at corporate didn't see that coming they need better consultants lol. I will say I missed all the THJ stuff but the concept does seem pretty dope so will at least check it out. I know enough algo coders to know there are ways to deal with the problematic BOT issues that many online games struggle with and not need to impact the very niche automation utilized by the responsible playing community. We shall see. Cheers all//

As of the start of the closed beta on April 24, 2026, approximately 35,000 people had signed up for EverQuest Legends beta testing.

A few hundred to a thousand were granted keys in the first wave.

Now, imagine (in a non-instanced real world), the physical body queue for jboots. ;)

I watched this entire video and it had absolutely nothing to do with EQLegends? The video was about the trouble DBG is in and how boxers leaving the game is going to kill the game. Then it went on to offer practical solutions for that problem.
Yeah, I saw this too, it was made when he was under the assumption macroquest for live was no longer going to be updated

Really? They officially stated that 25 players who competed in a contest got keys. Other than those there has been no further announcement of more keys sent out. Just speculation and assurances that more keys will be rolled out a few at a time.

Thanks for the reply. If that is true, it's very disheartening. The 25 winners basically used a ChatGTP write up about the background/theme for an intended class/race combination. But fun read, regardless.

Hopefully, they will do extensive testing. Usually a release do not get a second chance. In comparison, Crimson Desert could have been GOTY, but they messed up bigtime on release before they fixed most issues. Then the hype already was dead.

Now Brasse needs to hand out more keys :) ;)

Btw, throwing this here as well.

Does RG plan to support EQ Legends as well in some way or the other?

(Thanks, edited Live to Legends)
