News - Everquest 2025 (32nd) Expansion "Shattering of Ro"

Anybody play the beta yet? If you have, then what is your experience with this expansion, and the rating you would give me it.

Rating: 1 = Boo 👻 10 = Best thing since sliced bread 🍞

played in relic a little, was able to molo in grove as a zerk untill i got an add. Rallos and Marr looked pretty badass

So, do you get to pick sides like you did in DoN? Like, can you join Rallos and Solesk or join MM and Tunare?

i was assuming it would be like eok where you have to swap sides to do savior but if its like don that would be cool.

So far, so good. Toughts and opinions are welcome and worth the shot.
Those on Beta. Whats the catch till now?
LEave your opinion, no spoilers, just the opinion please.
For me, more the same but yet, fun the same as I enjoy playing as old days, maybe more.
You don't need your very own thread, one already exists

As Monks were the new hot class to have for TOB....it appears Wizards and Mages are where it's at for SoR as they are destroying the parses.

BETA maps already on the mq2nav updater.

It's a level increase for expansions, so new spells means increases in damage. The spells have to hold them over during the next expansion when there is no level increase. All these new wizards are going to find that there are no druids and enchanters to support them. They will want to play a wizard, but not the supporting classes.

Cool, any parsing data on WIZ and ENC by chance?

I don't have parsing data, but family members who raid did and said that wizards were crazy high at the start of the beta, and even detuned later, are still very high. Mages aren't far behind though, and while wizards are probably better for raids, mages should be better for grouping for all their utility.

Mages are doing better than wizards the majority of the time in raids.

Evolving mask - there’s a lot of good info on Bonzz site. Evolving the mask is a series of quests / trade skills and the achievements required is a bit different - instead of or champion first, it allows any of them (champion, challenger, conqueror, etc…) to be first and as it evolves you just need another arch vs the ‘next’ one. I love this part.

Loot is about what you’d expect with the new chase options.

Powersources are stackable, so that’s a win.

The missions as a whole are ok. I like the spite one for its uniqueness.

The biggest negative is the zones themselves. Very easy to get stuck (even if just running one person). Playability is tough. An example is getting to labrynth of spite to begin with for that mission takes a ton of time and prep. Swimming up waterfalls, past SI mobs… and if you almost get there and take a wrong step in relic you port to east Freeport and start all over…

This is the first expansion ive seen where it seems like choices were made to intentionally tank the design and playability of the game.

Disclaimer - these are my opinions only 🤣

Shattering of Ro

Welcome to EverQuest: Shattering of Ro, the 32nd expansion for EverQuest!

Druzzil Ro is murdered! Adventurers stand accused. Rampant storms of broken magic sweep across Norrath.

Primordial tempers flare and battle lines are drawn as an enraged Solusek Ro invades the Plane of Growth. Rallos Zek and Innoruuk have already joined the invasion, but Tunare does not stand alone. Mithaniel Marr has come to her aid while Quellious seeks an altogether different alternative to war. Amidst this turmoil, the rest of the pantheon watches and waits, but there is an ominous silence from the Underfoot.

Planar conflict seems inevitable as the gods rally their allies and followers. Will you heed their call to either uncover the truth behind these catastrophic events or fan the flames of war?
  • Learn new spells, combat abilities, and alternate abilities.
  • Find new items and learn new tradeskill recipes.
  • Explore six new zones.
  • Participate in new raids and quests.
  • Complete new achievements.
  • Gain a pair of new shared bank slots.
  • Join the fight as a Vah Shir Druid and embrace the spirituality of Nature.
  • To start, enter Shattered Grove through the burning tree in Wakening Lands.

Items

  • Fixed an issue where arrows could go into the Equipment Key Ring when changing persona.
  • Fixed an issue where bandolier was not properly updating Weapon Stance buffs.
  • In honor of the new Vah Shir Druid race and class combination, Vah Shir heritage crates are available on the marketplace for a limited time.
  • The bandolier can now insert and remove items from the Equipment Key Ring. It will add items to the Equipment Key Ring if you have the Store Equipment Set Items setting enabled.

AA

  • Melee - Fixed an issue with the Archetype AA, Finishing Blow, ranks 39-44 that let it trigger on targets 6 and 7 levels lower than the caster instead of 8.
  • Beastlord - Updated the Class AA, Roar of Thunder, all ranks, to apply its Str/Dex/Agi debuff as a triggered spell with values at approximately 90% of those provided by the Necromancer spell Line Grip of Mori and the Shadow Knight spell line Dire Constriction. Additionally, the hate reduction component of this AA has been increased at higher ranks while the damage component has been decreased so that the hate reduction is consistently 5 times stronger.
  • Berserker - Updated the Class AA, Everburn, all ranks, to use a different damage effect that will yield increased damage output.
  • Berserker - Updated the Class AAs, Furious Rampage and Focused Furious Rampage to have a 15 minute reuse timer.
  • Druid - Updated the Class AA, Season's Wrath, to have a max incoming damage effect value of 16-20% at rank 8, but all ranks now include an additional flat incoming damage effect that will continue to scale with future ranks. These effects no longer increase the damage of procs.
  • Ranger - Updated the Class AA, Elemental Arrow, to have a max incoming damage effect value of 12-20% at rank 13, but all ranks now include an additional flat incoming damage effect that will continue to scale with future ranks. These effects no longer increase the damage of procs.
  • Rogue - Updated the Class AA, Twisted Shank, all ranks, to apply its incoming damage, poison counters, and healing reduction as a triggered spell with max values of 18-22%, 12, and -20% at rank 42 so that its DoT effect can now stack. Additionally, the incoming damage effect no longer increases the damage of procs.

Miscellaneous

  • Added the '/swapdisc' command to remove the currently active combat ability and activate a new ability.
  • Improved transparency and translucency rendering.
  • Added two new shared bank slots for players who purchase Shattering of Ro.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when giving keyring items to an NPC.
  • Fixed a zone crash that happened when loading a persona equipment set.

UI

  • Progression servers, regardless of expansion unlocks, will now use EQUI_BigBankWnd.xml. For servers that have not unlocked Prophecy of Ro, they will still be restricted to only 16 regular bank slots.
  • Fixed an issue with Cash Loot being sold if it is in a locked slot.
  • Moved font declarations for the new UI engine to CSS rather than game code.
    • This will allow players to choose their fonts by changing the defined fonts at the bottom of the main.css file in the uiresources/default folder (currently this is the only location the new UI will use for CSS/HTML).
    • Several fonts have already been defined as examples and included in the default font folder.
    • Please note that changing anything in the default folder will be overwritten when the client is patched, we strongly recommend making a backup of any changes you make.
    • As a reminder, you can reload changes made to these files while in-game by using /ui reloadhtml.
  • Refined several of the shaders related to rendering fonts to increase clarity.
  • When trying to create a guild, if your previously created guild still exists, more information will be given in the guild failure message.
  • When trying to create a guild, if 24 hours since your last guild creation hasn't passed, more information will be given in the guild failure message.

Changed

  • EQUI.xml
  • EQUI_Animations.xml
  • EQUI_BigBankWnd.xml

Removed

  • EQUI_BankWnd.xml

Previously Updated

  • Removed Charred Rune-Etched Stone until Shattering of Ro opens.
  • Added speculative fixes for rendering crashes on modern NVIDIA and AMD GPUs with the latest drivers.
  • Disabled the removal of AFK players on Teek, Tormax, and Fangbreaker.

anyone have anything they like or dislike about the expac so far? i play on rizlona so i wont see it until july next year but i was semi optimistic about this expac based on literally nothing.

As Tim2051 noted a few posts up, there are some things that really are painful so far. Its hard to get places with odd zone geometry (!@#%# waterfalls), falls sending you to Freeport, and just enough mobs that see through double invis to make it just about impossible to get anywhere without needing to stop and fight.

How difficult are the group missions? i wasn't able to box any of them last year without automation, hoping to do so this expac! Let me know fellas!

Hardest part is getting to them, if you have enough dps you can burn through the first 3 and the last one in spite isn’t bad once you figure out the mechanics

Any insight on those mechanics? I keep training myself after porting via the corners and have no clue how its supposed to work, haha.

So i can ignore the mechanics in the first three and just all out wtf bbq sauce burn them? or are there some mechanics that i have to do?

ive only done first one so far until i get partisan of candymakers workshop done. pretty much burn certain percentage 5 adds spawn as main boss deactivates attack the 5 mobs dont neccesary have to kill them but if you get them killed and then main boss you get an achievment for.

The whole encounter for me was like 2 minutes. Had one blob left and missed the ACH. Anyone know how to get my time with blobs or another round to finish them off?

Might just try to time my burn to hit during blobs.

An all out burn makes it a bit harder, especially if zerker and monks are doing ae damage.

The best way I’ve found is just control it, lower them all down to 15ish then kill them all within a few seconds of each other.

You can do this on a burn too, just be ready to cycle targets quick and do it starting at 50-60 depending on dps (my group is ToB raid geared)

Oh, its timed on when the first one dies. That was the missing piece.

The boards are saying lots of things are broken, some people lost their characters, some people just needed to relog.
@Redfrog it's a 26+ year old broken game...if the old stuff is broken...fat chance the new stuff is all gonna work...

Good Morning No GIF by The Grinch

The relic mission was a single named, 50 second battle (12.3 mil dps) with zero adds. No one even needed a bandaid. I did the three easy missions today and I’ll add they are really stingy with the rank II trinkets. I got only 2 total. I was hoping for the evolving face item, but no luck. I tried to see it on the mission vendor, but it is not even listed as an option, so I don’t know how many points it will take.

After ToB missions, they must have gotten a bunch of bad feedback on the difficulty because these three were the easiest, requiring almost no tactics, I can remember.

The mask isn't a drop. Its acquired through and progressed via a quest chain.
