Guide - End of Empire, ROS Skyfire Mission Guide

This mission has been a main roadblock for the end zone of ROS aka Veeshan's Peak.

I've beaten it by 6box group geared toons multiple times and been able to finish the whole ROS (all mercenary, partisan, challenge and hunter) in a month.

Here is a guide to help those stuck on this difficult mission.


A short breakdown you need to know before the mission:

This is about beating 4 waves of kar'zok sarnaks.

1st wave: 3 Kar'zok Soldiers

2nd wave: 2 Kar'zok Lifestealers

3rd wave: 3 Kar'zok Veterans

4th wave: 2 Kar'zok Soulfeasters + 2 Chokidai + 1 Named Kar'zok Warleader.

Here is the details. Before Engage:

0. Buff those 5 Human NPC with all buffs you have. You can even heal them but I suggest not to cause that will cause troubles on manage the aggro from mobs.


1. Move all your toon to the loc before start the event, STAY PUT. The loc is

You will see red totems before the combat area, NEVEN STEP OUT or you will be DTed.


2. Start the event. Watch NPC fighting the soldier. DON'T ENGAGE!If you stay on my loc, you won't been aggroed. After the first soldier die, loot the shield from it.


3. When the 2nd soldier hit 50% ish, grab the OTHER soldier. DPS it but NOT TO BURN. Balance the hp with the 50% hp one so they almost die at the same time. After the other two soldier die, use the other two toons loot the other two shields.


4. Lifestealers up, BURN THEM HARD. They should die in 30-45 secs or so. (If your dps too low then you might get the silence/viral dot you pretty much will wipe especially if you box 6)


5. Veterans shows up. If your npc still live, let them grab 1-2 for you. DPS the other one. Tank use some minor defensive disc, and make sure your MA SWITCH TARGET FAST CAUSE YOU NEED A GOOD BALANCE. Again, the balance is critical. (since last wave will be active when even one veteran died, so you want them die at almost same time). And from this wave, you will get this emote:

6. Last wave inc. POP all your defensive disc/aa on tank, and BURN HARD ON SOULFEASTER since they pop chokidai adds. Soulfeaster must die first and fast since they will pop chokidai every minute or so.


7. Beat Kar'zok warleader though he has some sort of AE, with ROS t2 gears, you should be able to heal through.


8. Range kill overking. Remember loot the tooth from overking's corpse since it won't appear on you advloot window.


9. Loot the chest and win!

I don't believe the sheild clicks help either unless you click them in the center spot of where the meteor is to land.

The shield will put a purple aura on clicker and all toons need to be under that aura to avoid the meteor AE dmg.

Also, we can't buff the NPCs

You can 100% buff the npc with any single target buff as Hellfyre stated.

And also my loc is ${Me.Y} ${Me.X} ${Me.Z}, I've tested again this morning it worked.
 
I get to warleader and my toons keep getting bounced into the fire and dying. I havent used mq2events before- will all 3 toons click the shields at once?
 
I box this all the time for other people and TA them at end.

Here is how I do it,

Buff npcs, you can buff npcs, always been able too, single target buffs, group buffs/mgb never worked on npcs before as far as i can remember

I battle with the npcs, i dont want them to die, i pretty much burn and have my MA switch targets ect ect...

so you get first 3 mobs in wave 1... cool... balance loot shield if you want ( i dont bother with shields)

dps and balance the best you can, no biggie, wave 2 spawns after 2nd mob from wave 1 dies...

for wave 2. have your healer/casters move little bit away from the 2 lifestealers (they spawn on corpse of dead mob from wave 1) not far just a little.... casters wont get silenced... easy day... tank might but who cares... shouldnt need any disc anyways...

wave 3 starts when first lifestealer dies... 3 mobs... this one you should try to balance ... and get ready to click burns..... (i do mini burns all the way through event, big burns at end) ....

wave 4... 2 doggies .. 2 soulfesters.. 1 boss that comes 10 secs after that wave started...

as stated above... your priority is soulfesters... or you will get over run by doggies

**shield doesnt cause bounce. the doggies punt, ** so if you have lots of doggies up, youll just get punted everywhere and cant do anything...

soulfesters summons the doggies... kill the 2 soulfesters... then doggies.... then boss... all done.. just go range the guy on top and loot his tooth... dont forget tooth..

Some addons
on Meteors . there are only 3 that drop, if you have map filter you can see where they land. and click inside the middle of it.... OR simply move out of the aura range... they dont cover whole area and sometimes they might not even come near you.

Key is to save big burns for soulfesters.... and balance the wave3 the best you can for least amount of mobs up @ wave 4... also just move slightly out of range of silence from lifestealers.. its honestly a very short ae range.

some people want the npcs to tank ect, thats fine if you cant handle 2-3 mobs at once... they always tank one mob normally so you should only have 2 left maybe 3.

I like the have the npcs to dps/tank, i dont want them dying , they are decent chars.

usually at end, the npcs always steal aggro from my tank... that helps. So i just spam group heals most of high starting wave 4 cause the boss guy has an AE too... i honestly just spam group heals on wave 3-4.

DONT KILL RANGE GUY,,,, if you want to TA alts (have your elite chars do mission and TA alts.... and if you want the shield ach.... you can SAFELY do the shield clicks with no mobs during range guy phase....

I normally throw a dot or dps to 50% on the range guy so it doesnt reset (i never seen it reset, but i dont want to take that chance hehe
 
Thanks for this, but hopefully I can avoid all of this progression for now. Right now my plan is to completely skip EoK and RoS progression, I'm going to slit my wrists if they do another Korzak aura bullshit next expansion.:bang:

May consider going back and doing it once its trivial content for the glyphs and stat/hp aa's.
 
Soulfesters are not auto aggroing and stay up on the platform as of late. They just spit out doggies. Anyone had this issue lately and a work around? Dragging your party across the platform with aggro from everything is getting me killed. I can't seem to get the soulfeasters to me anymore.
 
Clicking the shield just around group isn't working for me - seems I have to be moving the clicker char to the middle of the meteor and then clicking for it to not hit my group.

Currently sailing through this until meteors, but they are killing me. Have a ton of attempts down and it's the last bit I need for my crew to get VP access. Real. Pain. In. The. Ass. :(
 
The whole group has that.... I think it's just a tad hard for boxing. And everything has to go just right ;)
 
I will add more details.

First you definitely need more practice especially on how is your dps pace.

Second you tank need somehow to be beefy, well, full ROS t2 group can be considered as beefy in this mission though.

Third your whole group (say you box 6) need some gear say at least ROS TS to heal through those AE.

Fourth it is still related to DPS. The greater dps you have the better chance you will beat this. (Sure who don?t want more dps?lol I will explain later though)

Explanation and some other notes:
I used to need 4-5 try to beat it but now I can almost one shot it. As I mentioned before the pace and the balance is the most crucial key for the event.

Say you have very decent dps then you don?t need burn the 2nd wave aka lifestealers. Their hp are pretty low so if your sustained dps is enough they can still be taken out in 10-20secs (1brd 1bst 2ber can do that easily), thus in 3rd wave you will getting less stress on balance 3 veterans.

And therefore you can save your biggest burn for last wave which is the hardest part. With those dps toons mentioned above you can probably take the soulfeaster in 10secs then drop the doggie fast. If everything goes well you will have the lonely names on you in 20-30secs which is a guarantee win then.

And don?t forget to at least click your shield once to make the soulfeaster auto aggro otherwise they will just stay on the platform which is pretty much unbeatable.
It doesn?t matter where you click it (unless you want to get one of the achievements).
And another small thing is to make the shield jump into the Advloot window you will at least aggro one of the soldier before it down by those friendly npc( suppose you follow my strategy).

Oh and of course all above requires pretty solid heal and dps macros and some setup on hotkeys like to tell them to burn or not to burn, to pause and to resume etc...I basically wrote all mine so that?s not a problem for me.

Again my crew is war clr brd bst ber ber.

So I'm really close to beating this thanks to the excellent information in this thread, got down to 20% or so on War Leader a few times today but my cleric just isn't keeping up.

I see mostly 1 cleric teams here so I'm wondering what you guys are using? Just Kissassist? My cleric running kiss11 is frankly too slow, he has these frustrating 5-10 second pauses sometimes between casts that is making this way harder than it should be.

This is my clerics heal section, I end up having to manually cast a ton of shit to get as far as I do because he continuously just stops casting for brief periods. Any ideas?

Kiss11 is fantastic but my cleric pretty much has to be balls to the wall healing for this mission for wave 3 and 4 and even small gaps are deadly.

Any reason you have a space before the name of heals 7 and 8?
 
Just a typo, but he's still casting both spells despite the space.

Stuff like that can cause the macro to hang. Not saying that's your problem, but I'd clean that up nonetheless.
 
Got it down! I just loaded MQ2Heals and ran it concurrently with Kiss11 (did remove the spaces in the ini also, of course).. healer was a freaking monster with both running. I also went ahead and turned on my clerics DPS section so he would recast shining defense and vicariums retort in combat.

For me I will add to what's already been stated a few things, I did complete this in just group gear as well, I do have a single chase dagger on my rogue though.

Group makeup is War Brd Rog Enc Wiz Clr

1) Very important to line up the 3 veteran wave and kill all 3 at once, this helps make wave 4 easier

2) Pop your 'burn' as soon as you get dps on the first soulfeaster in wave 4, if you get both soulfeasters down without losing anyone you probably won

3) ONLY click your 'Defender's Shields' if the meteor is actually on you, I kept clicking mine every single time the emote went out and it would occasionally leave me with none off CD even with 3 looted. Once I only clicked it when needed it wasn't an issue anymore


Now time to FINALLY finish RoS progression.
 
I have this event down to farm status, almost always win flawlessly (no deaths or near deaths). Want to offer up my advice because I know a bunch of folks are still struggling with this one.

Team makeup is: Shadowknight | Shaman | Bard | Ranger | Wiz | Mage —Almost 100% Conflagrant with a few pieces of EoK Chase gear on the Shadowknight.

Key Tactics:

1) Position your team either just behind or in the middle of where the 5 NPCs stand after you start the event. It is important that the waves rush to the NPCs first and not your team. Buff the NPCs as best you can, but definitely make sure you get some sort of haste on them.
2) During the first three waves, I try to tank at least two of the mobs with my SK. The idea is to reduce the damage taken by the NPCs so they have as much health as possible by wave 4.
3) For me, balance only matters on the 3rd wave (Veterans). I’m constantly telling my team to “switch” to the highest health NPC. If a Vet dies early, let the NPCs tank the dogs. They are too deadly to tank yourself. If you’re standing in the middle or behind the NPCs, you should not get aggro’d by the dogs.
4) After a meteor hits or anything that knocks back the ground, I hit a /bca command that tells all my chars to “move to my loc” back in the center of the NPCs. This prevents my caster characters from getting tossed further and further away.
5) I save all defensive abilities for Wave 4. Epic 2.0, Deflection, Shield Flash, you name it. Shaman does a Group HoT right before wave 4 as well.
6) Full burn on the soulfeasters. With some luck, Harm Touch, Visage of Death + Claret Blade can take one Soul Feaster most of the way down. Be sure to do a /bca //switchnow after you target the first Soulfeaster as I’ve found that sometimes the AE’s screw up the targeting on my characters. You should be able to handle the soulfeasters while the NPCs tank the dogs + boss. Usually the NPCs have one dog nearly dead by the time I’ve finished off both Soulfeasters.
7) With this strategy, I still have 3 NPCs alive after all the adds are dead. I let them tank the boss while I DPS it to death.

At this stage there is just the Overking left. You can still task add people so go ahead and add alts for both the win credit and the Overking Tooth. Run into the tunnel where you’re safe from meteors. As long as you keep dps on Overking his HP won’t Regen. I put my ranger on Autofire which slowly DPSs the Overking down while I manage task adds or whatever. The other thing you can do at this stage is loot the shields and run out of the tunnel to block meteors. This will give whichever character blocks the meteor the achievement. Particularly nice for getting the achievement on your healer or any other character you don’t want to take out of the action during the fight!

I was thinking, if a draconic meteor is targetable, would it be possible to target it, move, and click the center with a small macro/plug in? I'm definitely not a coder and have no way of writing or testing it, but it seems possible.
 
a way to test it is to do a /who npc when the meteors are casted to see if it is a trap that will aoe once the trigger spell reaches it. or turn on mapfilters for un-targetable and see if you get dots showing up when meteors are casted.
 
then they are untargetable (guessing) but they should be given an id so a test can be this

I hear ya! Way too much bs to run people through over and over and over for me...hopefully they will release some of the requirements for VP with the next expansion. I usually mow through the previous expansions when the next one comes out anyhow...so much easier that way!

If and thats a big IF, the next expansion is decent I may buy it for more than 6 accounts this time around, as I avoided buying RoS for more than 6 accounts. By decent, it needs to be boxer friendly like EoK was (no locked zones, gearing was no hassle, T1 non-Prestige group gear was good enough for a tank to actually tank the mobs. Or else I'll just stick with buying it for 6 again.

I'm in the same boat there. I bought EoK for 15 accounts, but only dropped the cash for 7 RoS expansions. And the only reason I had that 7th was because I wanted my rogue to have it for sploity mage coth purposes.

Keep a level 85 heroic rogue on one of your main 6 accounts, then you don't have to buy it for a 7th. I have like ~110 heroic characters I can still claim over all my accounts, and I haven't even payed for a heroic character yet.

There was a reason lvl 85 didn’t work .... I think SoS isn’t max level at that point and some things can still see you? Something like that.
 
Great instructions (I used the burn wave four soulfeasters not wave two method). Tank, Cleric, Nuker, Dotter was the group. I couldn't figure out what was punting me at wave four, it was the dogs. Letting the NPCs deal with them while I focused on feasters made all the difference. I went turtle mode and popped group hots at end of wave 3, so couldn't do any offensive on the tank.
 
Thank you for this guide! I have never used MQ2Events and was wondering how to set this up for the shield part. I used IHCMercs for my War/Enc/Clr/Wiz/Wiz and Kiss for my Mag and wondering if there are any tips to keep group from rushing to the Sarnak's before the NPC's attack and how to balance damage to make them die around the same time. Do I edit macros I use to get this done? Thank you for your help!
 
You do not need to edit the macros.

I don’t know how IHCMercs handle this because I don’t use them, but for kissassist you would avoid your toons rushing in (there are multiple ways, but I’ll give one main one) is to just not target any of the Agroed NPCs. As soon as you (assuming you’re running the main assist) target a mob at less than 100% health, the toons on macros will probably engage.

As far as the shields go, I ignore them and just healed through it. If you do it that way, you need to have a “come to me” hotkey to group your toons back up after a meteor hit because the meteors will bounce toons around.
