Behind the Scenes: 28 years of EverQuest® Development

Thu, Mar 21, 2024

1:30 PM - 2:30 PM

Condor Theatre

Launched in 1999, we’re celebrating EverQuest®’s 25th anniversary this year! Join us as we celebrate the Year of Darkpaw and share stories from behind the scenes of the past 28 years of working on EverQuest®. It’s definitely hardcore to try to cover 28 years in a single panel, so instead we’ll serve up a potpourri of some of the lesser and well-known stories of what it was like in the beginning, at launch, thirty expansions, and what we’re working on now.

Thursday and Fri are $67 each day all day pass.

I'm curious.. its not exactly a Con, but is it a beginning? I am a bit north of Boston and wonder...hmm

I think Pax East is a pretty big thing. IIRC it was started years ago by the Penny Arcade guys to get a Comic-Con like event on the east coast.

I am planning on attending, Never been to PAX and im sure it will have things other then EQ im interested in, but I super stoked they are doing public events again, and I want to be part of the body count if they are measuring interest in doing a public event again.

not huge in the comics and or video game scene, however my wife and daughters are into it, and have wanted to go to it for years, so I think its a pretty big deal. (1900 miles from us.. short jaunt..)

[WhyteTech]

Im going from the far side of Ohio, so I understand the Jaunt lol. Considering a 20 hour train ride, 12 hour drive, or 2 hour flight.

meh have them come to a southern state so we can teach these n008s how to BBQ right...

[Roran]

A bit of a short notice for us on the other side of the planet, but considering taking the trip from Norway.

[battlenet]

What an awesome way for them to throw cash into the fire after just laying off people. They are probably gearing up for an announcement though so that's something.

[Knightly]

I used to go to PAX every year (might be called PAX West now). I think they have PAX East, PAX South, and like PAX Australia now.

It’s considered one of the larger gaming conferences.

Beware the RedGuide scanners that they'll put on all of the entrances / exits. I hear if you snag one, they take you to a secret room with cat wallpaper... :P

[RobRenfro]

I'll be back on EQ in March sometime it would be cool to make this.

[Cybris]

Back under SOE they used to come to Dragon Con every year. They would host a Cosplay party themed from one of the games and have panels.
