Was lucky enough to get a finesse core of uprising today on my Bard. I am looking for advice on which of the two 1 handed T3 Uprising weapons I should be shooting for on the Bard. I saw in a older thread from a couple of years ago, people recommended dagger plus hammer/axe. Is this still the case in TOB?

I use short spear* and mace
Edit: short spear and mace I want dmg

I use the hammer and longsword on my bard - but I think they are all pretty close. A lot depends on what you value from the proc (and I like the heals). The mace has the best ratio. The dagger is nice for stuns (but can draw aggro). Some have slightly more HP/Hdex etc

Honestly, I think they are all good in their own way and - unless someone can educate me - I don't think you'll see a lot of difference.

I have never been a fan of the heal procs even if you are soloing. I use mace and axe and if I'm taking agro from my tank then its not tanking it right.

Procs dont matter at all, they are just nice to haves. I find the offhand swings less (and thus reduces dps) when the delay is different. It meant a lot more to have an offhand faster when you didnt dual wield 99% of the time when you swing, Now it just causes me problems.

I use sword axe cause of personal preference, club hammer is probably acceptable too. faster delay will make you hit damage shields a lot more, but i dont think its relevant unless your gear/augs are shit. if you dont care, use 19 delay weapons if you want.

This brings up a point i have been contemplating. I have found that with my set up i keep drums on for DOT boost percentages. Has that been proven to not be better DPS?

i assumed he was talking about the drum with the increase to dot damage (not worn skill bonus)

My max AA 125 group kills stuff so fast I want the fastest weapon possible. So I use a pair of Piercers with their 19 delay. I haven't ever actually parsed any of the weapon choices because I just don't care enough :)

I meant the percussion resonance which works with bard dots? I could have this all wrong and could be derailing a thread. Sorry.

On the original topic: I usually run a Mace as prime for DPS proc unless something else has a better ratio.

I did some digging on my own and it looks like there is a cap on modifiers including aa's across the board to be 360% for bards. So imma retire the wearing of the drums and run two weapons. I think my gloves can get me close to the cap so anything else would be useless. Thanks for this thread motivating me to research that random thought i've been pondering for a while.

@Hanadmer because you asked…everybody above is WRONG…best weapon is always a kickass ballad

Badabadaa…now try to get THAT diddy out of your head

Or this Top40 hit that went triple Platinum

Ok. So i am showing gloves only have Percussion Resonance 26 (Free to play bard) and MM Battle Drums have Percussion Resonance 35
It depends on the rank of your songs, since bard focus has never been a good design. Free to Play means either rank 1 or 2, if you bought the unlock. You are limited as a result. This means if you're using rank 1/2 songs, the higher focus does nothing, since you're over the rank 1 cap for song focus, think rank 2 is 34 cap. It also depends a bit on AA and level, since those are how you hit those caps and I forget when that occurs, but it was pre-85 somewhere.

Also, note that those +25% melee instruments were always less DPS than dual-wielding and using the armor focus instead. The +1 tick on the mez was just about the only reason to use them, or the minor boost to selos for those that cared, which put you barely over the speed of the fastest horses. This only worked with the songs though, not the AA.

Found the equation for figuring it out :
This works together like so -
1.0 (Base Song Mod) + 0.8 (Instrument Mastery 4) + 2.6 (____ Resonance 26) = 4.4 = 440% of base

caps are 32/34/36 for ranks I/II/III ... so you're hitting the cap with your gloves either way. Yes, bard focus is stupid.

I use the stun dagger main hand and heal hammer offhand on my bards after seeing that's what Tucoh did years ago. He might've changed or found something better since, but I'm a creature of habit lol

Thanks for this thread I still have much to learn about playing a Bard.
@RobRenfro says i have a lot to learn about [insert topic] … har!

This is for ToB too.

Picked up a 1h piercing Stun proc from raid and I have currency to buy an ore. What should I pair with stun proc? Mace or Short spear? The ore will be my primary. So it would either be short spear/stun (19 delay) or Mace/stun (19 delay)...

Edit: Looking at all the other posts it seems like it is preferable to use the hooked dagger (short spear in ToB) over the mace due to the lower delay. The focus for bards seems to be on proc’s making the lower delay weapons better. Even though the mace has the best ratio. Correct?

Ya I think more people are going with the lower delay DD procs. I actually run the Short Spear and Axe. Because I prefer a little faster delay but don't want the stun proc. But if you are off-handing the Mace there is an argument for higher ratio.

Yeah kind of stuck with the stun proc at the moment it being raid gear and all. Could make a mace, for off hand, with the intent of getting another 1H ore for the short spear, just not sure how many more TOB raids I’m going to do. And if it is worth the dkp.

Totally get that. With new expac coming around probably not worth spending points on something. In the grand spectrum of things any T3 will get the job done.
