I tend to use Brave Browser and use more often Brave Search as the search engine, but often enough use Google for a few things that they list better. When I do, I found, as many of you have Alla is no longer listed there. So in your fave browser, change your search engine to use something else and VOILA you should see Alla. this has frustrated me so much I just figured I'd post a solution for anyone feeling the same and may not have known.
duckduckgo works and is in most search engines listings as a choice.

I had noticed that Zam doesn't show in google searches. I wonder if it is because of the metric crapload of popups and spam and junk they have if you don't use a popup blocker. I usually avoid Zam anyway. I prefer all the other sites before I "have" to find the info there.

Zam went under some drastic changes a few months ago. Fanbyte laid off quite a few people and stopped paying Gidono to make the updates and took away his privileges to change the database. He thinks at that time that google just straight up delisted the site.

The site still has content admins working on the site updating content and can add new content as long as it's not for a new expansion. He might be able to give the lead developer there what he needs in order to add new expansions so at least the categories are available but he doubts they'll go out of their way to update spells, add items etc since they work on their big sites, Allakhazam is a very low priority for them, especially after all the layoffs.

I notice a few old timers are more active adding comments and one of them has changed/updated things here and there. Unfortunate but he moved something into the tradeskill section. This is bad because that item is not a tradeskill and the tradeskill section is locked behind a paywall.

given some of the adds i got on there site i suspect it was removed for the following reason:

Security Issues or Penalties: Google may have removed the site due to malware, hacking, or severe spam violations

those ads have always been like that unless you pay a sub for Zam. Now eq resource has the same set up with the ads on the bottom and the sides.

Set a favorite to Everquest.Allakhazam.com? Then search engines don't matter.
Very true. My way is just type in my address bar and let the search engine find what i was looking for with generic searching..on Alla, I have to remember part of the name. Journey... will bring up Jorurneyman Boots, but if all I can recall is Hammer of something, from a Dragon in TSS...Alla will not help me without me doing more clicks. Maybe good or bad example, but I hope you get my meaning. and of course I have it as a favorite. Not sure EQ is super playable without the community websites. Its very likely the absolute king of needed knowledgebase game still.

A few months back I had Claude build a scraper for Allakhazam that dumped everything into a self-hosted docker container. I put rate limits on it so I wasn't hammering their servers, but I only pulled about 100 pages total just to toy around testing features. It worked great at first glance but I abandoned it because I had no actual deployment plan and I am an idiot at coding.

The bigger idea I was poking at was decentralization where I could "back up" a main branch of Alla as of a specific date, then share datasets from different days. Frontend for regular to self-host, backend web backups that known contributors could build and push out for people to self-host, kind of like how GINA handles audio triggers. This would have minimal server costs compared to hosting everything.

Mostly it taught me a lot about vibe coding and how AI interprets instructions. It was a lot of fun, and I hope someone who actually knows how to code takes the idea and runs with it, because Alla will disappear eventually. If they just opened up the database for download instead of one page at a time, I would definitely back it up and self-host it myself.

Sounds really cool to me. Since EMU has a personal AllaClone service any user can install, hoping someone with more knowledge on this can chime in on how to do such a thing as get the 'whole' alla. So much info would be lost when they poof, and EMU will only grow, never be lost.
