Damn Sic, you make this look so easy. I have failed 7 times now! What is the HP/AC on your SK? I tried using my Cleric for heals instead of shammy and he still cant keep the WAR alive with two orbs, a guardian and Grolly on him.

well I'm an advocate for 1 heal and 1 CC and 3 dps - you're leaving a lot of dps on the table running 2 heals and no adps from like a bard

I talk with a ton of people who also don't understand the "eq is a game of inches, take any you can get from anywhere you can". This includes tribute, trophies, powersource, clickies, etc.

do you have epics on your shm, clr, zerk, and rog?

are you using poison on your tank/monk/ber with your rogue using its alliance and force alliance? - rogue alliance can trigger with others using clicky poison.

right before you start the event (hail/engage) it might be worth it to pop glyph of dragon scales on *everyone* /bcga //alt act 5104 since this lowers dmg taken by melee/dots/DD etc and lasts for 5 minutes (and persists through death).

sometimes you just need another inch to get over some challenge.

Epic on SK makes it definitely to keep health up because of melee from all the AE. But I’ve done it on my War also. Are you losing the tank first? the occasional times I’ve failed this has been when an ae has taken out the lower hp melee (most times I can just battle Rez Though).

Sorry, i forgot to mention my BRD as well! But I have not tried the poison trick or the glyph on everyone. shm, clr, zerk have epic 2.0 but ROG does not (I hear the ROG 2.0 is brutal! lol) I will try it again with poison/glyph tonight

<EDIT> Wewt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got it by the skin of my teeth!! Had ROG die and BRD die and still pulled it off. I did just like you said put poison on all, turned on force alliance, dropped a campfire, and after the first rotation of Grolly I hit the All Glyph hotkey. Great advise brother, it worked! Thank you!

I also made an audio trigger for the Auras so if any of my guys steps in it I can just hear it since they dont seem to show up well on my screen. (playing on a crappy laptop)
 
Since I beat this the 1st time I have had this on farm.

1 reason for that, is having 2 healers. SK,BRD,SHM,CLR,ZER,ROG. It's far easier with 2 healers.

I just burn from the off, Aary down to 50-60, run to tunnel, hammer Grolik till he despawns, run and stand at the edge of the brown area waiting for grolly to reappear. Soon as he pops you can run into the brown area and tag him, 10% health normally takes about 3 or 4 seconds and he goes again.
Soon as you see emote of the orbs appearing in the corridor, go and tag them and get agro, run back to brown jump on grolik.
He goes down another 10%, when he drops down look for next brown patch and run to edge, beat on orbs a bit to keep agro, they eventually clear off.
Guardian golem normally spawns when grolik around 10%, tag him, get back on grolly, beat on guardian whilst grolly underground, you should get him to 50% ish,
Finish off grolly, jump on dragon beat dragon down to 20% ish, he flys off, kill off guardian, do TA's then open chest.

Only time ive screwed this up since farming it, is when some sort of stone covering appeared over the group and i couldnt figure how to get out. It reset, and I just did it again.
Dont need to use Glyphs or really burn, Grolik is a wimp, and I dont bother with the Auras,

The stone covering means you got hit with the stone aura. It eventually fades. Or you can get out of it through magic damage (melee damage is to low).
 
I need to try this for Maximum Echo soon. I can beat it reliably now with one healer, so I figure two healers for max echo would be relatively easy.

Bonus redcents if you just share your /nav hotkeys for getting toons in the aura/out of the aura.
 
Darnit, anyone have a explanation to this whole mission. How you are supposed to do it, by design?

I tried it your way and it was slower but it was a first time go as well. I have the CLR and SHM set to heal and they basically just force everyone to stay alive for the duration of the event. lol
 
Yes, and that is exactly why I was asking for the intended mechanics of the mission. Not the burst DPS ignore the mechanics advice.

The only thing Sic doesn't do is take the right orbs to the proper auras to despawn them without blowing up. But since they hit like wet paper bags, there's really no reason to do that.
 
Tank 400k HP buffed, 9200AC, Full tier 3 CoV MAx aa. Zerker Tier 3 CoV weapons and armor, tier 2 ToV everywhere else max aa's same for Rogue and beast, brd tier 2 cov armor tier 3 weapons, cleric tier 2 ToV, cleric 280k hp, rest 310-330k. Wiped 12 times in all as waited between each wipe for disks to come up. Orbs just destroy me, even logged in my shammy instead of beast for ae root, and orbs got los and move so fast they killed him before it went off. logged now, 5 hours in aary instance, 12 or 13 wipes, 3% level gone. Need a break for a few hours.

Sounds like when I was learning 2.0. I now farm it. My suggestion to you: stop running around. Do less. Park your crew up front by the hallway and allow Grolik to move a bit. The orbs + ae explosion is because during the event you or a member of your crew is tracking through an aura BY ACCIDENT; you will eat a lot of dmg.

Less is more.
 
So far its all just: I do this and i do that. Which is mostly appreciated, but not the info some are looking for.

Does anyone even know the actual mechanics and would be able to describe them or is it all just following some guide?

So I tried parking my group in the hallway and Im still getting absolutely wrecked by the AOE. Does it just go off normally? None of my guys are near any of the auras.

there are other aoe’s that go off. Also, the dragon has a frontal, so don’t point that at your group.
 
Im getting blasted for 170k from Roar of Sleet. Is that a non-aura ae? Could pets chasing Aaryonar trigger it?
 
There's a lot to this event and not all of it is avoidable. Just saying "the AOE" is not nearly enough information so I'll try to detail as much as I know about this event.

Phase 1: Aary from 100 to 60
Aary has a frontal and rear cone AOE. The safe space to position is on the sides.

Auras and emotes appear. Auras give you an "Echo of XYX" debuff in your song window, which will protect you from the "Roar of XYZ" zonewide AOE when they come. There is also a punishment for having this on you after the Roar goes off, although the punishment is delayed a bit and not immediately after the roar. The emote happens when auras appear and it tells you what Roar is coming next. You can either go to the aura corresponding to the Roar from the emote, or go to another or go to none at all. All you have to do is touch the aura, you don't need to stand in it after you get the Echo debuff. Touching an aura removes any previous Echo of a different type that you might have had and replaces it with the new Echo or, if you already have the Echo from the aura you're touching, it will increase the rank of that Echo up to rank 5. There is an achievement for getting all Echos to rank 5. You can only get an Echo or increase an existing rank once per Aura per spawn cycle. Meaning if you touch fire aura, then shadow aura, shadow will overwrite fire and you can't get fire again until the next cycle.

Punishments for having Echo is as follows:
Earth: an immersion dome spawns on top of you and traps you for *immersion* amount of time
Ice: gravity well pulls you to the aura and sticks you there
Fire: a fireball hits the area around the player and does AE damage to all nearby
Shadow: banishes you to an area outside of the event area and there are hostile trash mobs nearby. They can be pre-cleared before starting the event. The banish location is just outside and south of the zone out room to WW that is closest to the event.

Intruder's Curse zonewide DoT happens periodically. Unavoidable, must heal through.

Phase 2: Aary deactivates, Grolik spawns
Phase 2 lasts until Grolik dies.
He's basically a simple tank-and-spank, except that he deactivates at certain health intervals and despawns. Shortly after despawning, he will respawn at the same HP% at a different location on the map. A decal on the ground will mark where he will respawn. Anyone touching the Grolik decal will take damage when he respawns.

Auras and Emotes from Phase 1 continue, except now their position will be randomized.

Intruder's Curse continues

2 Orbs eventually spawn and continue to respawn in timed waves. The orbs do not take damage, but they do agro on players and deal single target damage. They correspond to the 4 Aura types and can be despawned by kiting them into the correct Aura. Kiting them to the wrong Aura blows up on all players. Not kiting them to an Aura before the Auras drop means you'll be dealing with them indefinitely (or until the next wave of Auras spawn, but you'll have more orbs by then too). There is also a punishment for having too many duplicate orbs up at the same time. I think it's 3, but I'm not positive as I've never actually failed it that badly. You have to have *really* slow DPS to get to that point and if that's the case, I would say that they group composition simply doesn't have the DPS to be doing this in the first place. If a kiter touches an aura trying to despawn an orb, all the previously mentioned aura mechanics will apply.
Later in the Grolik phase, you will start to get "a guardian" mobs to spawn. They're basic trash mobs. Rootable and snareable and do not have to be killed to finish the event. If you root them away from the group, you can focus on Grolik or just kill them.

Phase 3: Aary from 60 to ~20
Aary has frontal and rear AEs like Phase 1
Orbs stop
guardians stop
Auras and emotes continue
Intruder's curse continues
Aary deactivates and chest spawns at ~20% HP. Open chest to win event, any DoTs still up will continue so keep healing.

As you can see, there are a lot of moving parts and automating all of the intended mechanics is very difficult. 6 live players could do it with decent coordination, but a box group will have better success by ignoring the mechanics and killing everything as fast as possible while healing through all of the damage.
 
Nah i couldnt repeat it so must of been a one time shot.
Had 8 people in the mission when i kicked two toons it ported them to zone in and not out to WW i tried to repeat but was not successful.
 
Were they still affected by an aura?

I have wiped on all but my monk who was FD. I kick a player out of group and released to bind to bring up a merc. The merc will rez the group and I can rez the player out of group, ending up with 6 players and a merc in the task. It's happened a couple of times. Probably not counting out of group players against the instance.

Did you wait around to see if the extra player got booted or the merc was automatically suspended? Usually you get some “this isn’t allowed” message and it kicks the extra toon/drops the merc.

anyone has a tip for me... i always whipe when orbs get taged... seem they aoe when agro on my sk... didnt see anything like that in the video hehe

The orbs do not aoe, but there are several zone wide dots that just happen. So it's entirely possible that something like that coincided with the orbs. It is also possible to get unlucky and have 2 different dots stack up on you. When that happens, it's difficult for a single healer to keep the group alive, especially a bot. The slower you kill, the more likely it is that you'll get a double dot.

Once I got enough aggro that the orbs really stuck to me, everything got alot easier. Make sure they stick to your tank and dont run off triggering some AE

If you pull the orbs into the wrong aura while you're doing the mission they explode. You're probably seeing that behavior.
 
i think i need to explain a bit more what iam doing... dps aaryonar then grolik everything cake... when grolik get to 40 orbs spawn... ill grab them with AE hate and they just hit my sk with pretty low dmg.
but in the same time the whole Grp gets AE dmg like hell.. some times iam lucky and finished with 3 toons alive but most time it result in a whipe... i could understand when im unlucky and get 2 AE dots but its always the same on every run...
i dont step in an aura or something.. ill tried to catch them in the Tunnel and whiped there..
