A Formal Dinner Party
Where: Plane of Knowledge
Who: a Dreadspire servant [19th Anniversary Mission]

Ok. There has been a TON of confusion on this 19th Anniversary quest. And the quest guides on alla are not much help.

< You only get 1 augment for the quest - you will have to do the quest multiple times if you want to get the aug on multiple characters. >

I messed this up earlier by doing things wrong, and went back and streamlined the fuck out of this and I would like to share that with you now. (Kaen followed this method and it worked out great).

You get A Formal Dinner Party from a Dreadspire Servant in Plane of Knowledge - "I accept the invitation" to get the task - then "ready" to zone in.

Once inside you will hand the invitation you received to the doorman.

1647705119698.png

You will then speak with the guests and go through their dialog one by one.

1647705131751.png

After speaking with the guests you will talk to Melion Pell and he will tell you he needs 5 things as proof.

1647705249217.png

These 5 things are items that mobs randomly drop in the zone and 1 food item (sometimes you have to clear most/all of the zone to get the item drops, including the weapon racks).

Here is a weapon rack

1647707831036.png

Each of the 4 item drops will have Class listed on them - you can determine which class was the murderer by looking at that item and seeing which class is listed for all 4 items.

There are a few hidden access points in the zone - one of them is in the library, there is a book to click to take you to the hidden room on your map - the other important one (which took me ages to find) was in the bedroom area, there is a door that takes you to the south part of the map.

So - the 4 items that drop - great we have those, what about the food items?

We need to go back to the entrance and look at the class we just determined from the 4 drops.

This example here shows the 4 items, and the class that matches all 4 items is "Shm" for shaman
1647708809553.png

In front of that class there will be a food on the table - you will need to pick this up *** be careful not to eat the damn food ***

1647708890894.png

You have a couple of options:

1. If you pick up food items as you go - *** Write down where it came from - the room if you know what it is called (don't guess) and a location /loc location allows you to cross-reference ***
2. If you are using myseq or another ability to target ground spawns you don't have to ever touch a ground spawn

now you need to match the food item with a room in the zone

Code:
Map File Locations: Put these in dreadspire_3.txt
P -249.8655, -2583.1602, 124.5690, 0, 240, 240, 3, Bedroom
P -236.8859, -2649.9407, 63.5682, 0, 240, 240, 3, Crypt
P -1.5203, 56.6970, -1104.4302, 0, 240, 240, 3, Study
P -41.1409, -56.5208, -1292.9857, 0, 240, 240, 3, Ritual_Area
P 298.5941, -3073.8772, 96.5693, 0, 0, 0, 1, Clickable_book
P -203.1000, -3022.2000, 81.0000, 0, 255, 255, 3, The_Laboratory_(KOS)
P 252.5000, -2986.0000, 100.1000, 0, 255, 255, 3, Library
P -0.2000, -2947.5000, 97.0000, 0, 255, 255, 3, Ball_Room

Using myseq I can look at the ground items and target the matching item and check the location against this list ^ above. That is the room the food item is in.

So we should now have 4 dropped items, 1 food item, and identified the room the matching food item is in / came from

Turn in the 4 items,
then turn in the food item
say the room that it happened in,
and then say the class,
fight the class
loot your chest

Inside the chest is Red Berry Paste

You have to give this Red Berry Paste to any bat inside Dreadspire Keep

To get to Dreadspire Keep:
PoK -> Nek Forest -> Coralthus Creep -> The Undershore -> Stoneroot Falls -> The Hive --- inside the hive, you will go up the swirly "hives" until you reach the very top hive, there will be a door, click it and you're inside.

or - quick path to Dreadspire Keep , thanks @taz6two

PoK -> Grab the Jimothy the Delicious quest -> Take the elevator up to the top of the library in PoK-> Hail Grand Librarian Maelin and click Dreadspire Keep -> Drop pet if you have it and turn in.

The Red Berry Paste you can give to any bat mob - there's one right at the entrance *note: The bat will not like it if you have a pet up --- drop your pet and you can turn in just fine*

Locations on your map - Thanks @ChatWithThisName

this is 100% how you should do it easily, works like a charm, even i could figure out following these instructions.

Thanks for this write up, Allakazam makes it worse than it really is by its directions.

I don't have a dreadspire_3.txt in my maps. Should I create it ?
that's unusual - the 1 2 3 are the layers to your maps - its worth creating if you want a little dialog on your map showing you what those spots are called

What is the lowest level you can be to complete this? Anyone know?
Not sure if this mission has any sort of scaling - I believe most of the mobs are yellow at 110 - some pulls can be quite large, and while the mobs aren't particularly tough at 110, having 10 of them beat on you can definitely cause some issues if you're not prepared (library for instance).

I tried with 110 SK, 107 WIZ and BRD, 106 RNG and CLR, 110 merc cleric. It was very hard, gave up after two hours. SK was able to pull, but it took lots of tries to get them in 2-3 mobs each time.

do the trash summon? can a necro root/rot?
not sure, but be warned, some of the pulls come like 6-10 at a time, if you're looking to solo this gonna take you quite a while I'm guessing (coming from a necro main who just got retired lol)

Pull with the bard? Would be way faster, IMO.

the ballroom mobs are linked in pairs, but pair can come alone. (ie 2) if you wait for them to separate to pull.

Mobs can almost all be messed, i think maybe the orcs can't? or maybe im thinking of old school DSK

Either way, with war/enc in group i pull entire rooms and flash of anger and enc normally messes most things and i just tank the rest. I've never tested calm spells, they normally have a lower level limit then mes which makes mess the only option.

You *can* lull/calm the ballroom, if I recall correctly, but need to be careful that you get both mobs in a dancing pair. If you lull one but not the other and tag something, it'll still bring most of the room. It's fairly easy to wait around and get half the room (which isn't as big of a deal as it was when the mission first came out). If you have a bard/enc then it's pretty trivial. Now I just tag the whole room, hit shield block (or whatever the 1-2 tick SK deflection disc is), and the enc locks them down.

With TBL group level tanker, should be able to handle 4-5 yellow mob with a mezzer.

Navigation is the biggest pain the ass. Normal difficulty with my group, just time consuming. I run clr, war, brd, ech, shm, zkr, all 110. Tough pulls are library and ballroom. The rest is easy.

just a heads up the items are food, so make sure your toon has eaten!
That might be obvious for most but wasn't for me the other day.

I did the whole thing picked up the apple and went to hand it in,
probably got up for a seltzer or something and when i came back i couldnt find the apple at all the toon.

Noticed he was hungry and felt instant dread.
I was able to get the final hand in by just picking up the apple from the table in front of the druid and handing it in.

Now i'm not saying this will work every time,
i've only done it the once and maybe it's only to be done in desperation
but it might save you some extra running at the end if you just look at your map to see the room the drop is in and select the corresponding food from infront of your guy at the table to turn in.

good notes - all already added in the start

They should really change those items. you shouldn't be able to eat them and screw yourself on the quest lol

A little problem i ran into when turning in the berry paste is if you have a pet up the bat wont take it, dropped my pet and he took it and gave me aug

Thanks for the addition Damination - added a little note in the walkthrough

Ok, so I just did my first attempt... I didn’t realize that the mobs were going to all be 117 and 118. I think I even saw some 119 level mobs. After doing some research, apparently they forgot to put a level limiter on this HA, so it should?? be fixed with the next patch and not scale up to 115.

All that aside, it wasn’t too hard. I have a full group of 115s (including an enchanter) and the mobs weren’t too tough. I did get run over at the library, where what seemed like 15, level 117/118 mobs murdered me. I mean wtf?

After wiping, I followed the instructions to get back in my instance, but every time it would tell me, “blah blah something is blocking your path.. maybe if you had something to do blah blah”.

Has anyone else run into this problem and been unable to get back inside? I hail the guy and say ready but he won’t port any of my guys. I even taskquit and retried, but got the same result. I was always blocked from entering. Why would DPG have something important like this fucked up during anniversary?

First, yes! The mission is actually fun if you have an enchanter. Otherwise, it can be a PITA. I manually do the enchanter for the library and load two AE along with beam of slumber, because you can get far more than an Xtarget window full of mobs.

And yes, I've had that happen on several of the Anniversary missions where I wipe and can't get back in. My cheesy workaround is to only zone with one person and immediately run back and zone into the mission (seems to be fine as long as people are still hovering over their bodies). If you have one person in the mission or people still hovering over their corpses, it doesn't seem to get bugged for me.

Other than that, it' sucks. I had one instance where I was for fun soloing the one where you get a Sarnak illusion with my necro. Having fun splitting mobs and stuff like that. He died. Zoned out and I couldn't get back in the mission. Same thing you ran into.

@Marnan thanks for all the tips! They will be very useful tomorrow when I try it again.

Yeah the mob level and density of the library surprised me. It was the first room I tried too ha

Well having completed this mission twice now I learned that for ball room you can pull it in a small chunk if you have your map up and wait for some of the mobs to move apart then pull. Easier to see the mobs being separated then looking at the map than the actual game, at least for me. As for the library I still haven't figured out how to pull in small chunk yet as the whole room seems to come whether I use aggro proximity pull or actual spell pull. So the advice I got from someone from discord was to leave library last. Hopefully you will get your 4 items then don't have to pull library, but if you have to pull it then try and use burn mode right after you pull. My SK tank can survive with burn mode on long enough for my chanter to lock down the whole room.

BTW, I am not sure if I did something wrong or not but FD does not seem to work on these guys either. Tried that the first time I pulled library and they killed my SK while he FD.

Oh btw if you go to the Grand Librarian Maelin in PoK and tell them Dreadspire keep he will port you there without having to run there.

Anyone got Maelin to tp you to Dreadspire Keep? I said Dreadspire Keep to Maelin and he said to say hi to so and so but doesn't seem to do anything else.

Its the Dreadspire servant in POK that sends you there (Find a Dreadspire servant in Plane of Knowledge at -652, +718, -156 under the south section bridge.)
If you wipe, just return to the Dreadspire servant and say "ready" to get back in.

If you have the Anniversary Solo Task : Magically Delicious quest at the same time then Dreadspire is one of the ports for it that Maelin ports you to. I used that a lot for fish eyes and pieces anniversary ones.

Not sure why anyone has to run there? But I miss a lot lol

After we get the red paste we have to travel to dreadspire keep and give it to a bat to get the augment. I was just trying not having to port to underfoot then run from there. Does the dreadspire servant tp us to the actual dreadspire keep after the mission? If not then I guess I will look up delicious quest so maelin can port me.

Get it from Jimothy the Delicious in POK next to big bank. Since it is solo you can have it with other group ones going on. Then run up to Maelin in library and hail him, choose Dreadspire. It ports you right to the door and across from the tower..go down the tower a bit and there are bats everywhere. And drop your pet..have heard those will jinx the turn in.
