Discussion - Which familiar for which class

I did a search first and did not find any posts recommending which one to use. Like most everyone else I have a "few" classes and do not have 100% knowledge of them. So I was wondering what others thought that the best familiar for each class would be?

Specifically my Ranger. But I also can't decide for my casters and don't really use one on my bst but think I should.

If you're on Teek, the icefall glaciers spirit wolf familiars are my favorite at the moment.

Direwolf Totem of Battle increases health regen by 6 and Double Attack chance by 6%. No haste.
I don't remember if most melee are 100% Double Attack chance already. I would have to check

Looks like it is still useful in era. Assuming my numbers are right (mild confidence), looking at 88% to Double Attack baseline and up to ~93% with Direwolf Totem of Battle.
Ferocity 3 or higher would overwrite.

It's useful until house of thule, then even bards and bst's no longer get any benefit from it. Fall off from other classes is a lot faster.

Not to sound like an echo, but ya.... Just use the most current, available to you, stat familiar. Everything else is just for cosmetic these days. Unless you are running like on a TLP where every stat matters during certain expacs.....

I know a lot of people actually do use the Anniversary Familiar Jimothy Junior due to the food consumption reduced by 50%

I personally use a fast casting pet illusion for when I am recovering from death as it is faster to pop up the familiar buff. I look for anything either instant or 1.0 cast time or less and use the current stat familiar in the buff slot. Something like https://items.eqresource.com/items.php?id=81273

I wish DBG would add more updated familiars for common era EverQuest that actually did something useful
