Question - What's after Defiant?

I've got the whole group to 71. Someone here was super nice and gave me Elegant Defiant, but what's next? I'm on Test, so I know armor is easier to come by, but I don't know what to look for or what to Quest or whatever.

Are there good armor progression guides I should look for?

You should ask on Test, there are people around who may have more armor available to you (The hardcore heritage armor sets).

If not, you want to either get Remnants of Tranquility from people and use TBM armor (its upgradable every 5 levels, but I would not try to upgrade every 5 levels for anything but your tank personally), or suffer through til 80 and look at HoT expansion armor. From there, follow the expansions up.

I highly suggest you check the bazaar and ask if you don't see things though, that is generally "the way" on Test.

Edit: TBM armor starts at 70 from a vendor but upgrading it at 75 and beyond requires a quest chain that is quite good xp anyhow... starts here>

I've never done a progression for an expansion. I'm legitimately excited to go to HoT. Can I get there at 80 or do I have to wait until 85?

You can handle some of the stuff at 80 but the expansion was targeted at 85 to 90. It is one of my favorite expansions however! Some wild stuff.

Actually doing any progression, especially on test, especially during bonus xp, will quickly see you out-leveling said progression.

Once you hit Call of the Forsaken (which is a few expansions later at 100) however, there are permanent bonuses in the form of Heroic AA for doing progression.

I had a lot of fun doing the Heroes journey until I hit a wall. That's why I think I'd enjoy HoT. Everyone says it was awesome and I'd like to experience that.

I would suggest the best place for you right now is Oceangreen Hills from SOD. Level 70-85 ish. You want to be closer to 85 before you go into HOT

Access is fairly convenient via Herald of Druzzil who is in POK standing by a wall by the baker npc then to PoTime and on to the Void

There are 2 armor types available there and a very nice aug. While you will soon outgrow much of anything that you get as a level 70 this zone was fantastic to experience

Oceangreen Hills is the beginning of this expansion and where you can quest for Aug Bayle's Heraldic Crest

After you go thru some more progression you can get Rallosian Battle Figure which many players still use

The armor in Oceangreen that can be dropped is called Archaic and the armor from the quest line is Paragon.

I have nothing against TBM armor line other than the need to change every 5 levels. Over and over. I like exploring new ways to get armor. There are a ton of different zones around your level right now. Dragonscale farm, Loping Plains, LDON

For Oceangreen progression these might help. It does have some of the longest quests in the game I think. Also stay away from the brown bear den mother - she will hunt you down and kill your party. Revenge for years ago in Qyenos Hills.

I had fun at the farm last night. Easy kills and with the exp bonus and Lesson of the devoted it was 2% per kill and I leveled in like 20 mins.

The world is my oyster, though. I'm not opposed to going to other places.

Did you pick up those kill quests at the farm for even more exp?

I went by expansion for farming gear, I think I was in Valderholm at lvl 71, then dragonscale hills/ fortress mechotus, House of Thule, then Agath...

I was buffed to crap by a guy here and am running around killing crap in this zone. The Mama bear comes out of nowhere! Its crazy. She can't tank the damage shield I have on, though.

The next Step up from Elegant Defiant would be Secrets of Faydwer armor - Drops from named in Hills of Shade - Glossy Silk, Alloy-Linked(Chain), Warped Steel(Plate), Scratched Hide(Leather), as well as other t2 zones. I just find Hills of Shade the easier zone to camp stuff in. SoD gear is about the same level of gear. There you might want to move one zone over to Oceangreen Village - same level mobs, same gear level, no Den Mother to come after you for killing her bears/wolves? I generally try to avoid killing either bears or wolves there unless I specifically want Den Mother.
