This is very helpful. Thank you! It confirms my suspicions. Feels better to hear you're on the right track when you're waving around in the dark
Now we just need to find someone who knows MQ as well as Brain who has more time on their hands. I would love to do it, but its far from my specialty
How's that patience cap?
The summary you read doesn't really give the whole story either, but I don't suspect it matters much.
Dbg wasn't making large toolset changes, they weren't rewriting complete systems, they weren't in the process of overhauling their UI engine, they hadn't changed to dx11 and continually made changes on those.
Unfortunately even someone very skilled and knowledgeable would take a very substantial amount of time REing all the things brain has, and create all the tools brain has created.
And if you happen to know this magical unicorn the MQ community would love for more folks to contribute!
Mule did a lot of great stuff for MQ, but there were also lots of "well it sorta works so it must be right" but weren't actually right. Or half implemented or janky work arounds.
Also - sometimes mule would get "a leak" sent to him with code changes and where to look, this employee left to blizzard around the same time JChan left - check for updates and update speeds during big changes - you'll take care to notice the times brainiac bailed mule out.
Conversely, I know of a few times where eq has had some broken shit and brain broke it down ELI5 style so dbg could fix their problems.
Yes you mentioned you're new, so you wouldn't know that (and no one expects you to), but new folks showing up and saying things like "maybe brain can use AI to help" is less than helpful - like actually less than helpful.
Anyhow, as I said, I don't think it matters much here in this conversation.
Hopefully test will be back up soon
