Heya, the latest build on Test seems to have messed up some windows, specifically the the invis display window is locked in the upper left corner, only showing 1 name. there is a scroll bar but I can't seem to gran and reposition that one either.

That doesn't have anything to do with the test build. Sounds like you reset invisdisplay.

/Invisdisplay unlock - then resize and move it, and then lock it again

That worked! thanks.

Wrong forum
I saw in this forum the update about the optional patch on Live. It seems they patched the Test side also. I don't see an indication of patch needed or but MQ won't load because the version is not up to date. Maybe I'm hallucinating. LOL. Is anyone else seeing it?

if you patched and mq wasn't rebuilt for it - it isn't going to work until test is rebuilt

i'll ping @brainiac tho extra test builds aren't always as quick coming as live

The timing for bonuses coinciding with Test patches continues to amaze me... (Even though it shouldn't, I know...)

Have a couple drinks @brainiac and thanks!

Like clockwork. Lockout reduction and then boom, patch! :P

This is not a complaint about VV or RG purely my timing... Do you know how you know test server is going to patch? Its the day I reup. I've come back at the begining of months, middle of months and the end of months and every time Test just updated or updates the next day.... I am sorry for everyone I brought down or made miss the bonus with my bad timing/luck.

What to expect on patch days?
When eq patches MQ has to be rebuilt. (you also have to patch EQ --- this way you avoid "Version Mismatch" issues)

once mq is built RG can build - we now have an automated system that rebuilds RG as soon as it is updated - which means our previous method of "let's give it a quick test" is no longer there, and sometimes there ends up being another smaller patch later to correct if something got missed - so re-check on patch days if you are having issues.

eq could change literally anything and it would require the way MQ interacts with that portion of EQ to be completely reworked. It is normally just offsets, sometimes struct changes --- with the large changes eq has been making over the past few months (updates and backend improvements) there are more things than just offset changes that are happening, so it can certainly be a lot of work for the devs.

Curious when Very Vanilla will be updated?

MacroQuest for Live servers:
MacroQuest for Test server

EQ patches go like this: (in theory)
2nd* tue/wed = test "real" patch
3rd* wed = live patch
4th* tue/wed = test "true up

the tue over the wed is a more recent thing (I suspect klanderso has more to do with that, and having time to ensure working stuff before the weekend and upset people - klanderso is pretty awesome)
* holidays subject to cause shifts in days or even week

test is notorious for being like "oops we forgot the 'dont crash plz' file, gotta patch again", or "woops we added +1 to crashing, we meant -1", so "on paper" it is double the patches, but very frequently ends up being more than double the work (i imagine, I'm not doing the work - I'd love to learn enough at some point to help facilitate doing so, however)

Mq itself is open source and by volunteer(s) - RG which builds and distributes that is obviously paid for.

It's like we've done this before!

Happy Wednesday ya'll!
test has been on tuesdays for a while, them not doing it yesterday was unusual - and then them doing it today without an announcement is weird.

i suspect someone was on vacation/sick/personal since Meeko was posting in the test updates channel on the official discord and no announcement went out

gotta admit im a sad panda today as i was really looking forward to the shortened lockouts on test. we had it all mapped out to have a big ole pixel smashfest. gonna suck putting on the patience pants for this one lol.

but as always thanks to the best box community in norrath. without all the work of the devs here and the support from its community i would have quit eq years ago

!!!!!!!!!!!!

thank you @brainiac and co.

were only one day behind on lockouts! this is super awesome. once again thanks to you all for everything you do!

I would be very grateful for being able to play on Test this weekend 🥰

You have this copypasta saved off somewhere for easy repost? Haha

looking like there's an issue with main assist and casting spells/attack

if you set MA to another group member your driver (sk) will cast spells but wont attack. theyll target and stick and cast but wont auto attack.

not sure if this is a cwtn or MQ build issue

but it seems to be related to MA and group roles in both group content and in raid

edit*** update****

fired up the rgmercs Lua and function seems to be working there? so possible cwtn?

just thought we would mention something for further inspection, as always thanks to red brain and co for keeping eq fun ;)

I'm returning and decided to try out the test server for the first time for the gold membership. I made all my characters yesterday, subbed back to redguides, and saw that it was patch day and mq for the test server hadn't been patched yet. That's fine, I understand it takes a bit and was probably bad timing. I came back today and saw the same. When I played on live last year I thought i remembered it being maybe a few hours, but now I think its been about 24 for test. I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to understand the frequency I'll encounter this while I decide if I want to continue on test.

And the moment a build is available it will be up.

There was an auto merge / build error hangup

Redbot updated Very Vanilla MQ (Test Server) with a new update entry:

20251101

November 1, 2025:
- test: Update for test patch
October 27, 2025:
- Added network capability for actors
Add any peers to a new \[NetworkPeers\] section in your ini in the format \<ip\>=\<port\>
Setting port to 0 assumes that the remote peer uses the same port as the local peer (default to 7781)
Can change the NetworkPeerPort entry in the \[MacroQuest\] section of the ini to change the connected port
Everything else should be completely transparent and function like the current actor...

Read the rest of this update entry...
