Updating Files

I have the files in a run directory on my server where my boxes can access it. I just copy the new .dll files to the old directory. For several years this has worked like a charm.

Well, I used the old folder that MQ2 used to be in and just updated the .dll's and now everything seems to work fine. Thanks for all the help!!

Your buffs are listed incorrectly. Just list the item for the clickys. See if that solves your crashing.

Blacked out chats/menu's etc. BAD!

I'm having a weird issue here. I zone into City of Bronze or Pillars of Alaris and my chat windows black out once I say something, and this affects my spell bar menu, any text tab on a UI window, etc. I can't do anything. I tried deleting entire zone files then patching and loaded into EQ with no MQ running and there was no problem anymore. Then I loaded MQ up and started EQ over, same problem again. what could be causing this issue for me, as far as I know it's only those two zones with a problem but I've only been to one other higher end zone and that's windsong. didn't have any issues there.

Anyone else having this problem and what can be done to fix it? I'm not even sure it's MQ related but seeing no problem when MQ wasn't loaded then problems right after kinda worries me. I've been having this issue since before last patch, can't figure it out. Also spans video cards, my old car that has died recently was replaced so I know it couldn't have been card related. This is a brand new $300.00 card and it's not changed anything.

i suggest a FULL reinstall of eq and mq2. Just use a different directory, but don't use any of your old config files for either eq or mq2 to at least try to narrow it down.

Try backing up and then deleting any eqclient.ini, UI_toonname_servernane.ini and Toonname_servername.ini files. These hold many weird and old settings for years sometimes. Deleting them forces EQ to recerate them. Try this before you do a full reinstall.

Problem averted, solved my ignorance.

Well I figured it out, my own dumb mistake. I deleted the ini settings files in EQ and still no luck. I noticed that the only time I had an issue was when MQ was loaded. I already installed version C but I installed it in my backup drive instead and ran it from there. It worked and I had a problem deleting it from my desktop because the mq2main.dll wouldn't let me delete it even after closing MQ. After I got it re-installed on the desktop I loaded into EQ and even had my old INI's back in the EQ folder and it is working fine. I usually just unzip, overwrite all/yes. and never had a problem, Guess sometimes you just need to delete the pesky release folder and re-install.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I am glad I didn't jump the gun and fully re-install EQ.
