I wont say his name but way back in the day the Monk Class Leader from the raiding guild I was in was truly the best Monk player I have ever known in game. I feel like he was beyond an EQ addict though, I think it may have been an obsession because I think he played 24/7. He probably slept at the keyboard.

There was a young teen in my neighborhood whom I introduced EQ to. He was very tech savy and ahead of the curve compared to the adults that I was aquainted with. He tried to explain SEQ to me but I was sort of a purist towards EQ. I can't say how many times I would ask him to locate mobs for me and sure enough he did. I really had no idea what SEQ was but damn I wish I listened to him. I would give him an honorable mention for players that helped others frequently and was damn good. Names can't be mentioned as his account is used occasionally(when I need a ranger that I leveled).

Not great with names. There was a warrior from Sacred Fyre that introduced me to swarming in PoFire before swarming was a thing. When the SK Visage of Death was added to the AA list, life changed completely and its been balls to the wall in group content ever since. It was always crazy watching F2 and C2 being eatten in two pulls, and even crazier once I started doing it and had friends lined up for AA power levels.

Who were the best players you ever knew.... There are many ways to say who's the " best" best could be best at their class, best stats, best augs, best raid attendance, best at being there all the time, or best at being a friend. I've recently came back to the game, and not expecting to win, but I wanted to put my story out there about a friend named Matt R. (character name redacted as someone plays his account and names actively).
I met Matt when doing Dain 1,2,3 to level up back decades ago when it was a thing. I used to run my own group of 6 legit before using... toys =). He had his and his brother's toon who he also Box'd and did Dain 1 all the time. After literally days of seeing him in the tiny dain room, I sparked a convo with him. We did competitions on who could do it faster, and obviously me with running 6 doing Dains, I did it faster. I offered to drop 2 of my toons for his two and he accepted. After doing Dains together for weeks, he had irl stuff happen. I told him I could box his toons and get him aa's for his two and he said sure. We swapped login's (as I thought it was fair, he had mine as a sign of trust). This went on for months, we went out and did groups together. We did Ldon's, Adventure stone back in the day when it was a thing, we did MPG trials when it was current. We helped each other camp for DAYS at a time, because named rate spawns were shitty back in the day, with only 1 PH spawn point. He was great at his class (Warrior). He was always stiving to be top of the leaderboards, had dream profiles made with the best gear, and augs to have for every slot. He helped me make mine for my main(s). We got so close to each other, we knew everything about each other. We did so much for each other, we had person info, like CC cards, addresses, phone #'s memorized, even helped him with court once, and talked him out of drugs and OD's multiple times. I ended up drifting off away from eq, but we kept in contact. Sometimes it was just a few months between conversations, but we still talked. I had a now, ex with 2 kids with her. She wouldn't let me game and made me choose between family and gaming. So, i picked toxic family over what I loved doing. And i lost most of the contact with Reid. We maybe messaged a few times in 5-7 years. I messaged him a couple years ago about coming back. He migrated to doing progression servers and only running 1 acct per pc, no hacks like in the good old days, and I didnt know how i felt about it back then. We did everything. He became what was truly a best friend, and the best player i have met in EQ. I could bore everyone with more details on everything me and him have done in the past for DAYS straight, but I will let yall slide on the stroll down memory lane.
Unfortunately, we never did get to meet before his passing recently, and I regret not being there for him. His death was suspicious, and I've tried reaching out to his mom and brother and had not gotten a single message back. I also tried calling the Morgues around where his address was that I still had for him actively, and Police were no help. His dad was/is a hot shot lawyer and probably got his overdose covered up from the system to protect his name. All I wanted was to go pay my respects to him, and eventually with time, and more money I can make that happen.

Also, some Hobo named "Sanday" who I met along the way, who had a girl character in game, and ended up being a guy who thought I was a girl player cuz of my toon aswell. That made a great friendship.
Also... someone who has made this the best game of great players for me Since day one. Sandcaster &/or Azzirah.. if anyone on here is from Veeshan/Luclin You will understand. To this day, I think Sandcaster is still Azzirah and has multiple personality disorder or has taken roleplaying to a whole new level. Regardless, Sandcaster has made so many memories.
Also can't forget The warrior who's name no one could spell, but he was a beast boxer Climddfdfgh.
The warrior Decimator who was always the best helper.
Pooter Cooter, my favorite Ranger buddy, who always had the balls to speak what needed to be said but I didn't have the balls to say it.

Oh Snap, I forgot about Sandao
Back in the olden days when corpses rotted, a friend asked me to join a Fear raid hosted by his guild, so I did. It went bad (naturally). They attempted several times and they thought they had it broken enough that they called in the rest of the troops....it was a complete wipe...
For the rest of the night, they spent doing corpse recovery. By the morning, they said anyone who is not in their guild and has a corpse, good luck getting it. They weren't going to help any more. That left about 20 people without a way to get our corpses. It really pissed us all off (the guild is still around today but I wish it wasn't)
A person who was on the raid and he was one from one of the top guilds at the time. He contacted his guild and got them to come and try to break into Fear to retrieve the rest of the corpses. Several hour later, all corpses were retrieved and none rotted.
I wanted so bad to join that guild but my gear and level were not up to the minimal requirements. I said that one day I would join that guild. Those are the people that I felt was the spirt and essence of Everquest.
I did eventually join that guild.

Oldie but a Goodie- Rogue name Transor. He was a backstabbing machine. I ended up playing with him for 5 plus years. This was 18+ years ago. I remember when he was one of the first to accomplish the Poison trophy. Granted this was 12+years ago. He has since left the game. You always appreciate playing with a consistent player and having fun. Met him killing skellies waiting to get a group for hours .
For me the best player I ever met was an Enchanter named Fuzzbal. He was our guild leader on the legends server back in the day and on the Rathe server once the legends server died off. He was not the best because he could solo current raid content with a naked lvl 1 cleric, but because of how he took care of everyone of us in the guild every day. I remember a time when my wife's monitor blew out during a raid and a new one showed up on our doorstep the next day so she would not have to miss any raid time. He was also very much involved in having us always work with the developers to tune the raids for new expansions coming out and gave us a voice to help shape the game in some small way. Fuzzbal unfortunately died at his computer during a raid one night and we lost a great leader and friend.

I don't think anyone I would view as the best player would want me to post their character name here - living or not, but there have been some knowledgeable players over the years, and it seems to get more concentrated as time passes. It also seems like everyone you meet in the game is playing fairly high level, and even then, there is still plenty to do in the game to keep everyone entertained. I think the best players now are the ones who don't mind talking about strats, quests, ways to improve performance, and/or game tips. The best people are the ones who are friendly for the sake of being friendly and want to group together. The best people are the ones who have your back and make space for you. The people who reach out if they haven't seen you in a couple of days to see if you want to do something together, are the best people.
I remember a friend who use to play back yearts ago. Darkhorror retired now he who play his 3 toons and 2 of mine while I pulled with my rogue. he did all the reseach for our group and I did stratagy for difficult areas. We worked well together I miss his company. I also miss being able to log more than 1 Toon fron the same account.

Back on innoruuk I remember being in awe of Legion of Darkness having so many skilled players. It was like a 60 day app period and most didn’t make the cut. Like most PoP+WoW destroyed them

The best player I ever knew was a Bard named Thom who taught me the ins and outs of playing a bard, aggro management, how to make impossible pulls and serve up the best aDPS for whatever raid or group you found yourself in.

I just wanted to congratulate all the Summer Raffle Winners!! Especially Sic he answers questions and solves problems for people every day. You deserve it brother!!! Redbot gave away THREE Grand Prizes. Not just the two listed in the contest. The Fiddler, Orbitz and Sic. Redbot als ok gave door prizes to everyone who attended the Raffle. I know it's over but I had to add to the great stories of friends we have made throughout the years playing this game, here are my two heros.
It was 1999-2001 and I was a mage in a guild called "The Shadow Order" on Lanys T'vyl. There was a mage in the top guild on the server named Silvas from the guild "Soul Assassins" He was the first to complete the mage 1.0 epic. The pet from that epic was godly in those times and I worked so hard to be one of the few mages to finish the epic quest. Silvas and another mage, Pimm, helped me complete the magician epic 1.0. If it wasn't for those two amazing mage players I wouldn't have completed it. The legends Silvas the Elementalist and Pimm from the server Lanys T'yvl, may they live on in the Halls of Everquest Legends.

Lol my parents they got me into the game during PoP when I was like 9 and I've been playing ever since they both still play too its how we keep connected id say eq has been the glue for a long time and brought us closer together helps us get past our differences to overcome different challenges in the game.
