Ok I was following the instructions given in the beginner's guide with a level 1 halfling cleric and his halfling warior merc in Misty Thicket. The cleric had big problems pulling moving mobs because he didn't go close enough to the mob to initiate melle. And when he finaly managed to pull one he sometimes wouldn't go back close enough to the merc for it to engage.
And I also have a small suggestion: add a button in the updater to reset to the default plugin selection.

try kissassist hunter, let me know how that goes

id also just keep the merc with you and not actually have a camp, especially at low levels like that

Use the merc on manual in KA and have it assist at 100. Mercs and KA can be tricky from a tanking perspective. For pulling use spells. Melee sucks.

There was a problem with hunter at low levels too using melee to pull at one point. when i made my monk he would chase mobs, but never engage. I think i saw that it was fixed somewhere, but may be some leftover remnant of a bug from that. I'm on TLP so i have no idea how to help you with the merc situation. I would definitely go with /mac kissassist hunter though, and if all else fails buy some throwing axes or something and use them to pull, everyone can throw things to the best of my knowledge

Just set yourself up as pullertank, and have your merc assist at 100. Pull with some kind of spell. Have return to camp set at 0 or off. Set pull radius to some big number like 2000, merc will follow you around like a puppy.
