This all started as a proof of concept on how to animate in imgui.
i had dancing camp fires, torches, a scrolling particle stream, and finally sprite maps.

sprite maps were the way to go for loading and overall performance. so i figured i could have fun with it =)
find some free game assets that fit my idea and rolled with it.

I tried to make it at least semi useful. starting with just getting moving animations down and tying them to the direction you were heading using 8 cardinal directions.

From there i just kept adding new stuff, combat animations and various status efx. Most of my time was actually spent in Gimp editing maps

I thought about and still may do it, adding a set for int casters with robes and hats =) waving wands for combat.

Grim, had an issue. While in combat the sprite was correctly a Werewolf..when combat stopped I saw the man icon. I was curious and tried the Config to force the sprite, but no checks are working (werewolf or otherwise). Love the new sprites btw.

EDIT: I was incorrect, EFX and BG work. Sprite section, if I click Combat..the werewolf shows.
 
ahh yeah the illusions are currently only for combat but i can change that, i just don't have movement animations for them which was why i only apply them during combat animations.
