• Hail, we're RedGuides. We want you to play six (yes, 6!) EverQuest characters at once. We have scripts and a friendly community to help, please join our playstyle and say hello! 👋
  • We've added LLM sections to our Terms & Rules and Resource Rules, for everyone's sanity & in-game safety.
    a. Do not replace your voice with an LLM. This goes for your posts and your scripts. Drafting and editing with a tool is fine, but don't take you out of what you share.
    b. Do not replace your EQ character's voice with an LLM. We don't want scripts that speak over /ooc, /shout or other public channels. This has been an unwritten rule that's kept casino scripts off the site for decades, but we're now compelled to make it clear: keep automated communication private.

    Why Does RG Review Scripts?
Nearly every LLM-written Lua script we see is making your character do impossible things, and rarely in a way that's beneficial to you. We've seen heavy server hammering, /target over impossible distances when /nav spawn would passively accomplish the same thing, a spawn search that fires 20+ times per second, and other pointless actions that are likely annoying GMs.

You are welcome to use LLMs as a tool to structure, draft, and edit your work, but please read critically before hitting /lua run

Hey guys,

I made a new heroic char on one of my accounts and that character crashes when he zones and 90% of the time upon login. the entire client just closes. Any ideas?

here's the @Redbot post on if you have a crash

Before reporting a crash, there are some things you can do to narrow down the cause.
  1. Run update.exe from the Very Vanilla folder. We release updates fairly often, not just patch days.
  2. Run your accounts without MacroQuest2, as the crash may be caused by EverQuest itself.
  3. Make sure compatibility settings are off on both EverQuest and Macroquest2 (right click the exe/shortcut -> properties -> compatibility)
  4. Rename/backup eqclient.ini in your EverQuest directory and let EQ make a fresh one.
  5. Exit out of any graphics card, overclocking, antivirus, and EQ-related programs such as Innerspace or WinEQ.
  6. Use the default UI
  7. If available, try to recreate the crash on a different PC.
  8. If you've bought MQ2EQWire or MQ2SlotColors, make sure they're updated manually. (we're working on an auto updater for them)
If you're still getting crashes, here's what to do next:
  1. Reply to the thread of the Very Vanilla version you use (Live, Test, Emu) and include the plugin section of your macroquest.ini (right-click MQ2 in your notification area, select "INI File.") Please note that you tried everything from this thread, so we don't link you here again.
  2. If you are a tiny bit tech savvy, please try to capture a minidump and send it to eqmule.
Can you try entering the game with your dude without mq2, in case he has a ui issue that is causing a crash?

I didn't see anything in the plugins that jumped at me
