Let me preface this, I am only discussing here, not whining how unfair life is or anything. I am at work during a slow period and have nothing better to do than to discuss the game with people who share my interest in it. I am having a blast playing the game and bulling my way through the progression quests and such...

So I have gotten the SK up to 5200AC and 220,000 HP or so group buffed and he can pull and tank just about any trash mob in Overthere but the named mobs still eat him alive. I have:
110 SK full conflagrant armor, shield and weapon. 20,000 AAs
110 Enchanter full conflagrant armor, shield and weapon. 20,000 AAs
110 Cleric full conflagrant armor, shield and weapon. 20,000 AAs
110 Rogue full conflagrant armor, shield and weapons 16,000 AAs
110 Mage full conflagrant armor, shield and weapon 16,000 AAs
110 Wizard full conflagrant armor, shield and weapon 16,000 AAs

It's funny but on some of the trash the cleric died due to bad pull and it seemed like the SK didn't even need him. He seemed to self heal enough that the group killed the mob then got the cleric back on his feet.

The named mobs though, I was pretty sure that Overthere was the starting zone for RoS and was hoping to be able to take it on with my group. The named seem to rip through me like no one's business. I don't know what else I can do to improve my toons at this point short of raid gear. I have AC augs in all my gear (farmed for them) and the 50AC aug in my shield so I can't see much to upgrade there, I have all the defensive AAs i can buy and am working of the offensive stuff now.

For the most part the Mage's earth pet seems to tank as well or better than I do and he is only 106 with the focus item I have.

Personally I think it has a lot to do with my cleric's healing, I am using KA11 but even that seems a bit slow at times. I would like to set something up (and I am going to work on it when I get home) that incorporates more HoTs and maybe up the %'s of when he does his instant heals. here is what I have now:

depending on the named, 3 are brutal if no ranged, 2 additional ones are real heal checks. I would up the heal percentages. maybe try eqmules modded KA using his cleric ini, he runs a sk and cleric I believe. Also make sure your sk is life tapping also to help on healing. Also your missing celestial regeneration, focused celestial regeneration, 1.5/2.0, ward of surrety line, sk bp click, cleric bp click, also I would try divine arbitration for MA since it will balance the hp totals of the group but wont actually heal them.

Are you keeping VIE and Shining Bulwark on your SK? Both offer like 10% mitigation and Shining also procs heals. I have them in my Buff section for keeping on the MA.

My Heal section is pretty basic because trash mobs just don't affect my SK much and because I also run a Shaman that delivers some heals while weaving in some Dots.

I get a lot out of my cleric in the DPS and BURN sections for when I have a named in camp. My theory is that the cleric macro will spend most of the time looping thru the heal section, but on a named when it jumps over to either DPS or Burn I want it to use all those special mitigation and one-time things that also help heal. Since it only drops thru the Burn section a single time I have duplicates of most every ability in the DPS section so it might get a second chance on an ability that refreshed after engaging.

Some of the named in OT are just nasty. It takes some thinking and set up to handle them. Or additional firepower --wink--

I managed to kill all the named in OT in two weeks or so. And my Sk's are both group geared, with say 5400-5500ac and 220k-250k+ HP.

Right now I am running a group with 2 SK, CLR, ENC, MAG/NEC, SHM... so I am heavy on tankage and healing, light on DPS. (basically running 2 three man groups combined right now to help a friend get his toons pumped)

I have my cleric maintain "Anticipated Intervention" , Retort, group HoT (if shaman doesn't get it up first), and Promised Rehabilitation on the MT. The Shaman does HoT (if the cleric didn't get it first) plus "surge" heal waves, spot heals, group heals, and the Fatigue/Incapacity line on MT (proc heal + slow)

Which adds up to a lot of seemingly "overkill" on healing. How ever, the amount of times the spike damage drops the tank to 5-10% (or splats him and second SK steps up) still gives me cause to set up this way. (yes, I realize more DPS would mean less healing needed, so nyaa) But this group has handled most named in SF, HS, and OT... just some take some forethought. One fight fore instance I use a "spell practice" macro on my cleric to chain cast the group heal that also cures over and over. I let the shaman do the main healing, while the cleric basically chain cured the AE as it popped up. Cleric didn't even use more then say 20% mana by end of fight. Also, having pet taunt on, and two SKs fighting for mob attention... tends to spread out the damage intake such that group healing comes into play better. Rather then one toon soaking up all the damage and potentially "spiked", it gets spread out. Both my Sk's are set up to FD if they go below 10% for exactly that reason. Usually what happens in the pet takes it for a moment until back up SK cycles another hate grab, or the MT gets healed and stands up to cast a hate grab.

Poked my nose into ST though, and got it cut off by one of the named. Damn mana drain sucks!

Looks like you got your dudes well AAed and decently geared. How are you on type 5 augs? Even just the TBM augs will help if you have none.

And of course, yea old trophies/tribute set up may tip the difference with you, along with power sources. Every bit helps in some fights.

Just trying to offer some help there, sorry if its stuff you already looked at.

Power sources are a good point! I have a full set of the +30 augs but I can't find any power sources, I would hate to think I have to drag my toons through that lower level progression stuff just to get them. What happened to the player made items? Also what is the deal with the 1,000,000 plat items? Don't they drain out?

How long does it take a power source to drain? Is this something I will need hundreds in stock like food and water?

Powersources should last for days. Even longer if you remove them when doing low level junk clears. The best power sources drop from the T2 zones in RoS. Cliff Stone is what you want for your tank. There are 4 variants. Tank, Caster DPS, Healer, General purpose.

i have found ward of assurance to be better then anticipated intervention, were the intervention fire once a hit for 21000 hits the tank, ward will absorb the damage over 35k till 54k is absorbed and then heal for 35k base. Its best at the begining of the fight it slows the spike damage. As for power sources source the bazaar for metal you should see a bounch in there, the amount of time they last is based on the lvl of the power source you have. Some will last many hours some last a few hours, once you can farm t2 eos named you will start getting the bigger power sources but even then use metal ones till you get a few and only use the t2 ros ones fighting named, thats IMO though.

Yeah like saar mentioned, Ward of Assurance from the cleric is like a free mini-disc. It does take a permanent slot in your cleric's spell lineup, but it great for Burn or preemptive cast when your SK is headed out to pull the named.

Conflag/RoS Cleric's bp click is also a nice Burn or Heal save for the tank. 150k rune that renews itself one time.

Also keep an eye on if Promised is causing issues from heals. Sometimes it gets early aggro for the cleric from the cast, sometimes it is burning a cast/cooldown when an instant heal would be better. With pullertank, you often trigger it by walking back into the cleric's HP aura. I have it my Heal lineup now, but am debating if some better conditions are needed or if I should drop it.

If you have time to setup for a named pull you prebuff with: Rune on tank from ench, reactive rune AA from ench, group elixir, ward/promised on tank right before he runs out, then press your tank defensive disc as you run back, burn Shield Flash as the named arrives in camp to give you 6 seconds for everybody to kick in their Burn routine.

promised use a condition like
Rich (BB code):
=${GroupAssist.HPs} < 90 && !${GroupAssist.Buff[Promised Remedy].ID}
and it wont fire till after tank drops below 90%, cleric aura will drop them to about 91 or 92 depending on server tick. Breastplate condition could be
Rich (BB code):
=${Cast.Ready[breasplatename]} && ${GroupAssistTarget.Named}
just some ideas

After a bit of fiddling with my INI's I am seeing better healing, not sure it is enough for OT named but I am not dropping lower than 80% health on trash mobs.

your still missing some buffs on your sk, Tylix's horror, defiant stance, harmonious disruption, also Remorseless Demeanor. and for dps Torrent of Suffering for more ac, Claret Blade which adds more dmg to nukes and melee damage output, should also be using spurn to absorb more damage per hit instead of repel

Try Shield Flash and/or Deflection Disc as early Burn items. Dodge all melee hits for 6 or 12 seconds while your group revs up. I organized my SK's Burn to do mitigation stuff first, then self healing, then +DPS/aggro items.

Shield Flash is also a good one in Heal and I even have it in AE for pulls of 3+.

I've also added Spurn to DPS |100 as a button "mash" since it reduces a couple hits and gives your group a small rune. MQ2Melee does a decent job of using it, but I want it used on cooldown.

your still missing some buffs on your sk, Tylix's horror, defiant stance, harmonious disruption, also Remorseless Demeanor. and for dps Torrent of Suffering for more ac, Claret Blade which adds more dmg to nukes and melee damage output, should also be using spurn to absorb more damage per hit instead of repel
Added Tylix's horror and harmonious disruption. Defiant Stance is handled by MQ2Melee. I am out of spell gems to hold all these 2 minute buffs so can figure out how to add Torrent of Suffering. Claret Blade I saved for Burn.

Rich (BB code):
DPS1=Spurn|100|Mash

Thanks :) I added Deflection Disc and Spurn but can't find a spell gem to spare for Shield Flash

I understand and have tried to manage the short duration buffs with the DPS spells as much as possible. Having a "switchout" spell slot doesn't help with two short term buffs unless I switch in the middle of a fight? Here is my spell line up, I am using gem 13 as my "switchout" slot and it currently has a short duration buff in it. My thoughts were that out of combat KS would buff me up, then replace the "switchout" with the short duration buff for use during combat.

Gem1=Bond of Xalgoz
Gem2=Refute for Power
Gem3=Dire Coarctation
Gem4=Dire Testimony
Gem5=Terror of Kra`Du
Gem6=Touch of T`Vem
Gem7=Touch of Hemofax
Gem8=Xalgoz's Bite
Gem9=Dichotomic Fang
Gem10=Tylix's Skin
Gem11=Defiant Stance
Gem12=Mendacious Audacity
Gem13=Harmonious Disruption

Shield Flash is an AA in your archetype tab
So it is, going through too much at once and getting the confused. Thanks for the correction.

If it were me i would put the short duration buffs up and leave the longer duration buffs to me used in the switchout slot. I dont play a sk so i have no idea what to tell u to rid urself of. Nor do i know what those short duration buffs do, sorry no help there(

As a warrior i have 2 buffs i constantly spam, commanding voice (dodge modifier) and field armorer line (ac buff). I manage these with a macro and do it in a fight.

I'm a warrior, I've got you slightly out geared, but even when I was not breaking 6k ac I was tanking the named in OT np, I cannot offer you much when it comes to playing your SK but i'd suggest looking into the proper use of your tank/defense discs they can and will save you from taking a total ass kicking. I'd be willing to bet something is a miss in that portion.

----Edit

I was curious, does your tank have all of his type 5 multi stat aug slots filled with bare minimum TBM level 105 HDex augs? You can purchase remnants of tranquility from the bazaar or farm approximately 6-7k of them every few hours on lockout, that would make a HUGE difference to your tanking if you had none.

don't go hdex at all, hagi for a warrior. hagi adds raw ac plus gives avoidance. dex is for melee dps to make u hit more. most type 7/8 augs give dex along with agi so u get ur dex there

We talking about a warrior or a SK? Because if we're talking about SK I've liked hdex way more than hagi for my group (well, and chase) geared SK.

I was giving advice to an SK, I know one of the best SK's in the game he is in a top raiding guild serverwide and he is HDex, I'm a warrior my augs are all HAgi, though I've left group content and moved on to raid tanking, where HAgi is further beneficial.
