Question - Ranger (1 Viewer)

I have a fully loaded ranger , max aa's and still barely breaks 100k dps unless burning , all the t3 gear and tons of trophies, but I keep him shelved , monk/bst all double his dps . I have tried all the ini's but am I missing something or they just weak ?

Are you doing melee or ranged, and/or fighting mobs higher level then yourself?

Ranger will shine on bow and humanoid mobs.

If you do the above & light blue cons (like you're doing a PL group) you will destroy any other DPS toon. No zerker will touch you.

@bigdogs - Try this, just melee with it. See how it parses with the other classes. Don't change a thing.

You’re doing 200k dps on a beast? What INI are you using? Also what weps? My beast doesn’t even come close to this, just curious

Bst is only 112 atm , just t3 stuff from tbl atm , still does more on average then 112 ranger at max aa's and all t3 gear

Just in farm mode , ive tried with bow, with melee , so like in ST or Mearatas , he does about same output as basic startup bst hehe
, will get to 115 and try the new ini

Ohhh youre not max aa / 115 yet. NM on my link hehe. The sick dps from that melee ini requires max everything, ice encrusted or better 1handers yada yada.

3. Get best arrow you can
4. Get best quiver you can
5. Get type 3 augs
6. Load up on hdex everything
7. Use Ice Burrower Swarm (or whatever big dot you have
8. Rotate through (I assume lvl 115, if lower, adjust to the lower spells) Marked Shots, Focused Blizzard of Arrows, dicho, and Summer’s Sleet. Weave in jolting kicks, blizzard of blades, and kick as you can.

And use your AAs and Discs liberally. Outrider accuracy, spire, guardian, group guardian, etc should ALWAYS be on cool down.

If you do that, you’ll see great dps out of your ranger. If you don’t, it’ll suck because how you setup the ranger sucks.

That's a whole lot of work to just sit at your bind point.

Are you using auto skills eagle strike round kick etc... alot of the fossil for bst comes of those skills and eok focus aa.s

I was using IHC, recently I have upgraded though. during good burns my Bst is hitting 600k dps. I am on FV though so the items are a little better lol. Honestly, i'm not sure why your ranger is so low, did you get it fixed?

Surfdog posted an ini for dual wield melee for Ranger DPS. Should a Ranger do more DPS ranged or melee? I know Surfdog mentioned he had ice encrusted weps but lets say you had a Ranger with T3 bow or T3 1Handers, would you expect to get better DPS from him Ranged or Melee?

Also, what kind of ballpark DPS should a T3 Group geared, max AA Ranger be doing?

Negative. The range on Jolting Axe Kicks (the lvl 112 version) allows it to be cast from bow range. Also, that only applies if you have other melee toons around. If you're in a mixed group or caster group it doesn't apply as Outrider's Synergy only applies to archery, backstab, bash, dragon punch, eagle strike, flying kick, kick, round kick, throwing, tiger claw, and frenzy.

Bottom line = bow, bow, bow and bow. Only exception would MAYBE be if you have a ToV group bow and a ToV raid melee weapon.... and even then its probably close because all of our AA's since RoS have been heavily weighted towards bowing.

I tried it just to see what it would do. 80k dps, 90 tops. I suspect this is not the way to go. lol

With ToV ice encrusted 1 handers, max aa, my ranger is around 130k dps using that melee ini. Not sure what 1 handers you are using or your aa count, which both will make a huge difference. I have 2 ini's, one for bow, one for melee. Where I hunt my ranger cant be sprawled out getting aggro staying in bow range, or cant use a bow at all as were in tight quarters.

When I get some time I will throw up some parses from my group with the ranger, and you can see on trash mobs he is deeps with the melee.

Post both your .inis here, if you don’t mind. The fact that you’re getting more dps out of melee is unusual, unless it’s the difference between raid one handlers and a group bow. All things (level, spells, AA’s, gear, etc.) being equal melee should never beat bow.

Ice Encrusted Bow will do more dps than Ice Encrusted 1 handers on the ranger, but if you are meleeing with endish weapons you have a lot more aa you can use in melee range. I actually can squeeze more deeps out of that melee ini, I haven't fine tuned it.

I play a ranger in a top 10 end game raiding guild. We’ve parsed all the scenarios. Assuming your gearing isn’t all wonky, bow beats melee 100% of the time. If you don’t have space to bow, then by all means melee (I do in groups and on raids), but that’s a net dps loss all the time.

Well, that is a good point, my Rangers 1 handers are T1 junk so that is probably huge.

I think someone mentioned before but DPS can fluctuate defending on type and level of mobs you are fighting. For example my wiz dps is nowhere near my rogue if I fight dark blue, but if I fight white or higher con then my wiz dps is usually higher.
