kinda the wrong forum but anyways for anything and everything wizard related in EQ check out www.graffe.com. You'll find plenty of tips and strats on how to be an effective wiz there.
no dude.....wizards do not get much better at all until Luclin when you start getting mana regen AAs and FT is more available.
at lvl 50, you can do a few things.....
I suggest Giant Fort in BW, BW in general.....at lvl 54, you can start quadding effectively....but ya....wizards are pretty over rated.
O ya, you can actually kite ice giants easily....
