Release Overseer Automation 1.9

No permission to download
@GoldenFrog you have a paypal or something we can shoot you some coffee/lunch money to? I literally was never going to bother with overseer, but this thing is great and i really appreciate your constant updates and improvements, would like to shoot you a couple bucks as a thank you

@GoldenFrog
For some reason it does not seem to be collecting Character Experience for me.
Is anyone else having this problem?, it also does not seem to be collecting recruiting missions.

This is what I have in my overseer.ini

[CODE lang="ini" title="Overseer.ini"][Rewards]
index=2
1=Rain of Fear
2=Character Experience[/CODE]

Freeferli, I missed this post. Is this still happening?

I'm going to try to give the reward system a serious going-over today.

What are all the reward types. I have different goals for different toons and would pick different rewards.

Just an FYI on popping your mercenary to grab EXP on it...

If you rarely use mercenary's like me you may not know that if you leave them set to PASSIVE for one full 15-minute cycle you will NOT be charged the mercenary upkeep cost the next time you pop them!

So leave them set on Passive and you won't have to pay for them every time you pop them to run overseer.mac!

Edited to add that I modified my various character's INI files so that KissAssist doesn't change my merc settings...

[CODE lang="ini" title="KA MERC Block"][Merc]
Help=To use: Turn off Auto Assist in Manage Mercenary Window
MercOn=0
[/CODE]

You can see reward options by clicking [Preview Reward] on each quest.

I'm doing this on the fly so someone can clarify or come up with a much more accurate list but basically:

The quest TYPE dictates which rewards are available:
  • Exploration - Collection Item Dispenser
  • Diplomacy - Collection Item Dispenser
  • Trade - Collection Item Dispenser
  • Plunder - Mercenary Experience
  • Military - Mercenary Experience & Ornamentation Dispenser
  • Stealth - Mercenary Experience & Ornamentation Dispenser
  • Research - Tradeskill items
  • Crafting - Tradeskill items
  • Harvesting - Tradeskill items

Reward types:
  • Character Experience
    • Regular exp (varies but avg around 0.5%) and Merc AA exp if a merc is active when claimed
  • Mercenary Experience
    • Average 0.25% merc AA. Merc does not need to be active when claimed. Always seems less than Character Experience gives.
  • Overseer Tetradrachm
    • Overseer currency. Buys things from 'a mysterious presence' in PoK (use Ctrl+Find to find)
  • Collection Item Dispenser
    • Gives item with 25% chance at collection item. Can combine 4 for 100% chance.
  • Ornamentation Dispenser
    • Gives item that can award ornamentations (haven't used, don't have much detail)
  • Tradeskill Items
    • Various tradeskill items claimable by expansion from Seeds of Destruction to The Burning Lands

@GoldenFrog the latest version works perfectly for me.

The only problem now is that I keep trying to run the macro real quick on my guys that are grinding XP, and they die.

I guess you cant fix me being stupid :D

Half of the macros I've written were to try and save myself from my own stupidity. I realized the Overseer window didn't need to be open to work. So I tried doing while fighting on purpose. Yeah just ended up with an icky mess.

Glad to hear it works. I'm sludging through Reward system. Hopefully get that nailed down, though some key problems running into that now.

@GoldenFrog Would love to send you a few $$ for this great mac please put up a Paypal or some other way to send you a few bucks.

So, Only issue I'm having with this is conversion quests have a 24 second completion time, so it times out at 2 seconds remaining on each conversion. Other than that, this is fantastic work.

did you download the latest version? That issue recently stopped happening to me.

Sum1 is correct. I've still never seen a timeout greater than 8s, but the latest version waits and watches indefinitely for the timer to complete. (Hm, probably should have SOME type of timeout in case....)

Running the version in the launcher. I'll try reinstalling it.
Nope. This is on me. I DID put a hard-cap of 5 retries of 3 seconds each (15 seconds).

Still should be a cap - I'll up it to 15 retries of 3 seconds (45 seconds) - feels grossly long. But if you're seeing 24... Gimme moment...

Works fantastically now, Thank you. Wonder why people are seeing different completion times?

Running 1.6.1 : Its claiming Overseer Tetradrachm not Character XP

File Below:

[General]
claimRewards=1
repeatTimeMinutes=-1
minimumSuccessPercent=0
requireMercToClaimExpRewards=0
[QuestOrder]
index=8
1=Elite|6h
2=Rare|6h
3=Uncommon|6h
4=Common|6h
5=Elite|12h
6=Rare|12h
7=Uncommon|12h
8=Common|12h
[QuestTypeOrder]
index=1
1=Any
[Rewards]
index=2
1=Overseer Tetradrachm
2=Character Experience
3=Mercenary Experience

File Below:
...
[Rewards]
index=2
1=Overseer Tetradrachm
2=Character Experience
3=Mercenary Experience

The file you linked asks it to select "Overseer Tetradrachm" first if it's avail, then Character Experience if not.

If that's not your desire, switch those two - or if you only EVER want Character Experience (which is what my main does right now)

[Rewards]
index=1
1=Character Experience

I have noticed the coin issue, too.

I have really enjoyed this but i have a couple of comments.
  • I would love this to log to a file, I guess i do not care if it is one log for all or one for each thought i prefer the former. But a log that says things like collecting a reward, converting agents, success failure, etc.
  • I find many times that i can find quests that can satisfy the requirements given to the macro but it will not choose them.
  • Lastly, do we need to keep scanning the list for each category you are checking? What about creating an array of the current available quests in one pass, then using the logic on the array? Would seem faster and may give rise to other potential logic. Even more so, if you create an array of all the agents in the first pass (collecting all their traits)
  • I also tend to find at times it will not know when some quests will be finished when it knows when others will be. I can find at times that if i double check them, i can find finished quests when it says it still has hours until the next one.

For a script that is still in the meat of its development, this is to be applauded.

Thank you, Gnits.

* I can look into logging. I had initially a LogValue=# macro to allow dialing up/down the detail but took it out (less code == easier maintain).
* Do you have more information on quests that aren't chosen? Granted dialed-up logging can help here
* You are right that reading the list into an array, sorting/choosing, then going back to re-select would be quicker. Had initially started that road then came to this safer way. As far as I knew, this was working 100% so hadn't touched it. If there are issues, rewriting could be called for
* I haven't seen this scenario either.

Most o the above will be clearer with logs. I'll add an option for this

@GoldenFrog One thought that I had was, maybe it should have different INI files depending if the character is gold or not.
I prefer to go on tradeskill quests on my gold accounts, and any quest on my Bronze/Silver accounts.

I am not sure if there is a convenient way to do that though.

I'm guessing you are using the global Overseer.ini and want that distinction in there. This is very possible. I'll add it to the OP to do list. Trying to keep that up to date (a little).

Yes I am using a global ini, maybe you could have
Overseer_{accountType}.ini

But I don't know how difficult that would be.

Think it'll be easier all in the same overseer.ini, such as:
[QuestOrder]
....

[QuestOrder_UnSubscribed]
...

Juggling a few things but see if I can get at least a first version of this in soon for test drives and tire kicking.

I am thinking of file logging for historical purposes. Something that would allow me to maybe change the settings in a file if i want.

EDIT: The quest selection list failure was due to no 24h quest being allowed.

Started out at 20s, and this was my first conversion in 12 hours, there is a timer DB keeps and it increases the time for each conversion. Wondering what the logic behind that is.

I had one toon start doing this. It wasn't until i camped that toon and came back (nothing else sufficed) that it started working again.

There are several things about this macro that do not seem to set well if you leave it running too long. But relogging a toon didnt seem like too big a deal after i let it set while i was away.

Gnits thanks. When it happened for me I had just logged in for the day and was the first macro I ran did it on a few toons.

I have only caught this once actually happening to me. And to be honest it didn't seem to be the macro. It looked like the MQ UI wasn't giving the right answers to clicks.

As Gnits said, in the end, camping out/in was the only option I had.

I'll leave a character running longer and see if it happens to me.

GoldenFrog updated Overseer Automation with a new update entry:

1.7

  • Uses internal list to determine General quest order (thanks Gnits for bumping this issue). Less UI walking, works quicker
  • Added new parameters 'generalList' and 'generalListFast' to show which quests WOULD be run and which order, but not actually runs (details below)
  • Minor corrections to handling of retrying Conversion quests
  • Added logging to overseer.mac.log and increased amounts of logging. May see more chatter.
    • This will be dialed in over the next few...

Read the rest of this update entry...

Oh yeah, that is much faster. Though there are some blank outputs to the MQ2 window.
