Getting Started / Returning user

Welcome to RedGuides, fellow EQ multi-boxing enthusiast!

The best place to begin is our "New User Guide" video series, click this TV to watch:

This step-by-step series will teach absolute beginners how to control 6 characters at once while highlighting Nav, AutoLogin, and DanNet, which are fundamental plugins that will enhance every aspect of your game.

Returning users check out - MacroQuest Release Party: https://www.redguides.com/community/threads/macroquest-release-party.80628/ for information about changes from the legacy MQ2 to the new and awesome MQ

Welcome to the best EQ community!
Here are a couple easy tips.

- Go 6 man teams if you can right from the beginning.
-There are some great "hands off" type plug-ins by CWTN and Sic that have a license fee but will supercharge your characters. They are "set and forget" automation.
- Redguides puts you at risk for the Ban Hammer. Understand your characters can get nuked at anytime.
- Once you go Redguides, you never go back.

Generally people run
Tank
Healer
Crowd control
Any 3 flavors of dps..

Mix and match, try different combos.
Play what you like. Enjoy the journey.

Welcome aboard.

Definitely watch the getting started videos Sic posted. Between CWTN Plug-ins, Kiss Assist, and RG Mercs, it is rather easy to automate a 6-toon team.

The generic template for most groups is:

1) Tank
2) Healer
3) Crowd Control
4) DPS
5) DPS
6) Utility / aDPS

Tank choices: Warrior, Shadow Knight, Paladin
Healer choices: Cleric, Shaman (once the shaman is higher level)
Crowd control: Enchanter, Bard

Some folks prefer Bard if the 2 DPS slots are melee, and enchanter if the 2 DPS slots are casters.

Beastlord is a popular choice for the aDPS role.

I am not sure the current state of the Wizard, but if ports are important, the wizard could possibly fill a dual role of DPS and Utility.

Just some thoughts to get you thinking.

Be well. Happy boxing.

Welcome....I had very little knowledge when i started. Watch the videos and good luck. RG really saved the game for me.

Welcome and be advised!

If you are going to use MQ with EQ, just know it is against the rules from DBG. Suspension and Ban waves happen often. So, my advice to you being new to this is, don't get attached to your accounts. Be prepared to lose them at a moments notice and be ready to make new accounts.

If you can get past that aspect of using MQ with EQ, then great! If not, I do not recommend MQ for you

Have fun out there!

Welcome! Don't sleep on the discord channel. Lot's of great help in that forum. Oh and i'm there too but mostly for comedy relief and the occasional nugget.

Welcome aboard. The journey is made fun with the help of the folks here at RedGuides and the assisted game play they've made available. It's a very helpful and welcoming group of folks that like to have fun. It's really increased my enjoyment of the game. Not having to continually mash buttons is wonderful. RG makes the game so much more. As you take the months to get used to whatever version of RG you decide to use (RG Mercs Lua, KissAssist, or the Class specific plugins (paid per year)), you'll enjoy the game more and more. It really does take alot of the tedious out of the game.

A few tidbits:
1 - The Ice Encrusted (level 110+), Blood-Soaked (level 115+), Memoryforged Desolation (120+) chase loot items, and Ancient Cloak of Flames (and other chase loot items) can be made tradable again by placing the item into an Urthron's Ultimate Unattuner bought from the Alerynril the Loyal (loyalty vendor) or a mysterious presence (overseer merchant) in Plane of Knowledge. Trade them among your toons for the upgraded AA click, and when/if you outgrow them, resell them.
2 - Overseer Collection Item Dispenser reward from Diplomacy, Trade, and Exploration quests can be used to make No Trade collection items up to Terror of Luclin. The No Trade collection items are Heirloom and can be traded on the same account. You can also put the No Trade collection items in an Urthron's Ultimate Unattuner to make it tradable to anyone. Nice if you are missing one collection item from a set to help complete it.

Something you'll read and hear is to start small and grow into it. I tried jumping into the deep and almost drowned. Was too much for me. I waddled my way back to the shallow end and into the kiddie pool. MUCH better for you. Your mileage may very.

Welcome aboard matey!!
