I have taken a pretty long break from EQ but i just reupped and looking forward to these new TLP's this year. Is anyone else thinking of rolling on the new servers that come out this may? Any possible guilds getting going?

I'm probably going to roll up on them - but keep in mind MQ is generally not supported on these servers.

Yea, still fun playing with rg people on the TLP's, when it gets closer to the time we should hook up if were rolling over there group up time to time for sure.

I am going to roll on a server if there’s no true box. I’ll probably get a guild going if no others are doing it. Really enjoyed rizlona but moved across country so had to stop playing. If both servers are truebox; no thanks.

rizlona was really cool, guess we just gotta wait and see, ive read alot saying they wont do another rizlona type server... i really hope that isnt true because it was awesome playing over there.

True box seems so archaic since people are going to bypass it anyways

thinking about starting a shaman on the new TLP. Seems like a great molo/class. is there a hunter option thats good for using tank merc?

Riz is still going, fyi. CotF just unlocked last week.

Waiting for the ruleset to be announced. Hoping for a relaxed truebox, and a non classic start. I would consider rolling a toon based around a decent trio setup for long term play.

Looks like you got your wish. So, if a server starts with relaxed True box then RG will be usable on the server?

"With Mischief and Aradune being the two most popular server rulesets from their opening day to today, this was an easy enough choice to make for such a celebratory year. So, without further ado, our new TLP servers are Tormax, a Traditional Time-Locked Progression server and Teek, a Random Loot Free-Trade Time-Locked Progression Server. Both will have Relaxed True-Box, starting with the traditional True-Box rules and relaxing the True-Box rules further over time. Both servers will start with the Ruins of Kunark unlocked with expansion unlocks then happening at a standard cadence. Both will launch on Wednesday, May 22, 2024!"

it will start as a traditional truebox so no MQ until months later

At this rate they're going to have to do *something* to Tormax. As is, the server's just so unanimously unpopular they're going to have to acknowledge it. Nothing is going to compete with a Mischief style server numbers wise, so instead of dooming some other server attempt, I think the move is just to make Tormax a Teek clone without truebox. Boxers haven't got a fresh tlp in four years and obviously haven't gotten a crack at Mischief loot rules in the early expansions. In the past they've actually listened and tweaked TLP rulesets after initial announcements when they've been forced to, so I just wanted to encourage people to post on the official forums and let 'em know if you want truebox removed from Tormax. I think they're going to tweak something and if enough people complain and the calls for a boxing server gain enough momentum you never know!

There's a general feedback thread that I think they'll read that you can weigh in on here:

And a specific thread about removing truebox here:

I wonder what they were thinking when they decided on Tormax. I mean, it's going up against the best ruleset ever and there's like no chance it's going to last. Darkpaw does the strangest things...

The numbers from Aradune were huge numbers. (Higher than Rizlona which allows you to box). I think some of that probably came from the idea that Aradune would have dedicated GMs, but MOST of it came from the popularity of social video games during the pandemic.

So while every other business puts an asterisk on any metric that happened during the pandemic DPG goes “we must have done something right.”

Except by most accounts the GM presence on Aradune was laughable and didn’t stop the problems it purported to stop. Still, it was more popular than Rizlona which released at the same time.

Against Mischief rules though? Unless they change it up, it doesn’t stand a chance.

Rizlona was pretty popular. There’s a post about it being medium floating on the forums which I’m pretty sure was on a patch day, or a day where people starting writing scripts for jboots aggro and crashing their raid zones heh.

Definitely didn’t compete with Aradune, but for an off brand server i would say it was successful.

It was high population for a pretty lengthy time but the playstyle was quite different. No one lfg, or in general chat and didn’t see a lot of trade going on until bazaar and no one really posted their kills. I checked a few times and it was like maybe 50% guilds posting even through OoW.

I think a boxer server would be relatively popular if they did it for the 25th and did mischief ruleset.

However I think the likely hood of that happening at this point is nearly zero. One of their goals this year is to appear to be taking on software and it would be a massive signal issue if they made another Rizlona where the exception was people not using software to play. And the community overall knows it.

I’m not gonna hold my breath but hopefully those that are interested have let the powers that be know. Really anything they do for Tormax would be an improvement….

I think one of the dumbest things they could do would be to really attempt to remove the boxing community... I might be completely off on my numbers but it seems like the majority of people I see playing the game are boxing... and most of the time with what appears to be RG or some version of it. I know I am getting off my own topic a little bit here, but as long as people are respectfully using MQ its usually considered an advantage to anyone that knows better, it helps newer players get in groups with cool boxers and learn the game, it actually helps the economy I believe because it drives prices down a bit which is good for the people who aren't able to get some of the higher priced items due to not having a raid group or normal group to go with.

On the TLP note.... I am really looking forward to the server release and ready to give it a go again, I will also help post for a boxing version because that would be amazing. Unless the rules change for Tormax, I will be rolling on Teek so looking forward to seeing anyone playing over there!

I will probably have a go on mischief 2.0 when they remove the truebox constraint.
I don’t think much people will go on Tormax, given the fact Teak with its relaxed rules set will be much more enjoyable.
They should experiment a radically different ruleset on Tormax that brings something else on the table.

will mq be supported on either of these new servers? i don't plan on running multiple characters if it against the rules but i won't play without kissassist to help automate some aspects of my character. some of the features are must haves for me.

I agree about DPG trying to remove the boxer community being dumb, but then again, they've always done strange things that don't make business sense like TORMAX TLP and Oakwind FTE TLP. Sometimes I think DPG is trying to shrink their business instead of growing it.

I think gonna move with 2 Friends more we think do a sk shaman or cleric and monk can be fun revive old times.

Nostalgic mode ON 😂

Getting psyched up for Teek.

Gonna play a bit on Vaniki over the next few weeks to blow off some cobwebs.

Does anyone have specific info on how random loot worked on Mischief? Some sources say it was +2/-2 levels and others say that mobs were grouped up together so it wasn't strictly within a +2/-2 level range for all mobs. Just wondering?

What items would be worth chasing straight away? I see pre nerf Circlet of Shadow is only available for a limited time, is it a number of weeks after launch??

An acquaintance of mine suggested they were trying to get everyone to move on from EQ1 so they could stop supporting it. Until the majority of us that are left stop signing in and it makes profit they have to keep supporting it.

The only saving grace for Tormax is that Teek will be so popular that it will be impossible to log into for the first couple of days. Anyone itching for the fresh TLP feeling and wanting to avoid the queues may just settle for Tormax.

I really enjoyed TLE, didn't have to worry about trains at all or someone trying to steal your named by out-dps'ing. I'm actually a bit confused why they are opting to leave it out. I thought once the initial bugs were ironed out that it worked pretty well and was generally well received by the players?

True, i think the FTE is quite good.
I enjoy my time in Oakwynd too.

Like is anyone going to play on Tormax? I really don't see why they included it with it's current ruleset. Maybe there is an internal argument inside DBG on how popular a "free trade" server would be, and they needed a comparison. Ok, ok, I know, it's a stretch. :)

MQ2 is not supported on TLP's until "sometime" after truebox is removed. To take that further, MQ2 will no longer even load on TLP's since the mid May patch to the program. A dev of MacroQuest built in a looping protocol to force the program to unload when it detects that it is not on a supported server. Link to Added Validity Check

Between the AE changes DPG dev's made this month to the game, and MQ's dev's completely negating the ability to even keep MQ loaded on TLPs, Teek/Tormax might just launch w/less complaints than the last few TLP launches

suggested they were trying to get everyone to move on from EQ1
I would disagree with this idea, as the next question is, why would they want to get rid of EQ1? It is the most profitable game they have from the ones they put out. For many years the profit from EQ 1 was paying for them to try to make other games and the money was not going back into EQ1. The owners of Daybrake/Darkpaw Games is EG7 an investment company. They don't care about games, just whatever they own it must make more money. If its not making money, they would sell it.

Yes, unsupported servers are unsupported.

just saying, after this suspension wave im not even gonna load up seq on the new tlp... feel like its a set up.

A lot of sweat going into the game right now as they say lol

I got logged in pretty early and made a char but I was just so tired I couldn't bring myself to play. Just watched someone on twitch stuck queuing on the server select screen for a while.

Hoping I have the energy to roll up another box later today and go out with a duo at least.
