Problem - New and Lost

I started watching the redbot videos to start setup got to the 2nd video and it says to go to MQ on task bar then profiles and create new. I have no options under profiles just a black bar. Also the window looks nothing the same as the one in the video has there been an update or something that changes the way a new user would get started?

Try "Open Config" to go to the box to create a profile. Sorry, I've not watched the video.

once you create a character you will need to log them in again to be able to create an autologin profile for them, give that a whirl and see if your options change

I am not sure what all the fields are for or what to input in open config is there a walk through for doing it this way? Also thank you for all the feedback seems I am having even further issues now with bitdefender wanting to block everything.

I would start with a clean boot and then make sure to whitelist your MQ directory within your AV. Also check to see if i\t quarantined any files. If so, you need to fix that first.

Then, assuming you have the RG launcher installed and pointing to the correct directory, you an launch MQ. That will give you the MQ icon on your taskbar. Right click that to config. Grimmer posted a video that may help as well, see below;

Is custom ini working properly? I assign my tanks their own ini named eqclient-blahblah but they seems to keep using the default eqclient.ini. Last I read it has not been implemented yet. I think it's there for future use and it will be amazing once it's implemented I'm sure.

So now I am kind of lost on where to begin as far as what plugins and such I will need to use I am returning to eq after many years away and would like most of my group to act as a Merc, besides my main. Also I seen you can get your toons to go buy and mem spells in PoK. Any advice on what to use or videos to watch to guide this setup process? Sorry I tried to read through the forums but not knowing the terms and what plugins do what I am very lost yet again

there are a lot of options, i recommend trying them all out so you can form some opinions that match your style, wants, and needs (which will all likely change over time).

most folks start with kissassist with an ini from the kiss library, but also many folks use RGMercs (Lua), or xgen, or cwtn plugins (premium, non-test server require purchasing a license), there is also mq2afnuke/mq2heals plugin, or some more "advanced" customizable automation suites like entropy or modbot.

I feel your pain, I would suggest starting with Kissassist if you have any text editing skills at all. If you don't know what "text editing" is, then kiss is not for you

The reason I suggest Kissassist is that it will give you a good grounding in what is possible with automation. But it requires editing INI files, one for each toon/class. As you gain levels, spells, and items, more editing will be required.

I personally use CWTN plugins and can heartily recommend them. There is a real US $ cost, tho. However, if you are on the fence due to the cost, they are free for users on the Test server.
