Mage tries to hand out the rainbow swords on my 115 mage. The ones that reduce threat and don't proc dmg. He won't give out the increased rage one but will try to hand out the reduce threat ones. Not sure if this is intended but I'm assuming not?
Did you check the faq?

We don't hand out the threat swords - we do hand out the threat reduction ones, but i could see where that is not desirable where dmg is preferred (i'll make that change so we don't hand out the mind___ ones)

One more comment is that 'UseMelee' is defaulted to yes for some reason on the mage but not on the other casters that I've seen. I haven't tried, but I believe the default settings can be adjusted client-side but just wanted to notate that as well.

Yes, settings can be adjusted.

mage - default true
ench - default true
nec - default false
shm - default false
clr - default true

no real rhyme or reason other than the two latest ones in that list are defaulted off, because many folks skip the FAQ and the sticky, and the guides, and the commands, and then post "zomg how not melee"

Just FYI and not sure what has happened/change with mage pet weapons. But on testserver, my mages didnt give out any weapons at all. Currently looking into it now.

I am curious as to why, at least my mages, do not give weapons to my enchanter pet automatically?

Need more info. What are you using to run your mage? Kiss? Mq2mage? rgmercs?
Doh, I'm sorry, I am using Mq2mage and only settings I mess with is that I click on always burn and click off melee, other than that, the settings are whatever they are when loaded up.

sherwood make sure you post in the appropriate sections, there is a mq2mage discussion thread and you should attempt to post mq2mage questions in that thread.

I have already posted about it. Not sure why but it might be because it was changed and a new build was pushed for it.

Im just waiting for a response

No. The only thing I changed was not using the deaggro weapons, nothing else was changed.

Sounds like the other poster (who's post got merged here since they posted in the wrong place) already had weapons equipped.

We only give pets weapons if their primary or secondary are empty (and some only get a primary due to lack of DW)

hands out weapons as expected.

As i mentioned, the *only* changes that happened where no longer handing out the de-aggro weapons.

I have a level 111 Magician casting Igneous Coat, and a level 115 Magician casting Circle of Igneous Skin on that level 111 repeatedly.

So my original question was about why my mage wasn't giving my enchanter's pet any weapons, when it gives the other classes with pets their weapons. Someone responded that it could be because the enchanter's pet has those default ones

Yes. We only give pets weapons who don't already have them. Your question was correctly answered.

I was then answering someone else who thought mage pet weapons were t being handed out

what could be the reason for mage to still attack when in manual mode?
because that is how it works.

"manual mode" just means for melee purposes. mq2mage is always going to assist their MA - not everyone wants to set a camp and do all that jazz. all casters are going to assist their MA all the time. same reason casters don't have a switchwithma option

ah ok - to have them not attack in GD or Kael mission i would pause them? But that would still have the pets attcking. Hmm.

I ran melee groups for years, only recently started to add casters :)

pause them, have someone else be MA, turn off nuke or dots, adjust hp/mana settings, etc - lots of various ways

those fights are so dumb i just pause the toons

ya, i'll have them sit at zone in, disconnected from bc - then do it with only 2x 120 melee dps. Shoudl suffice easily.
Not like i am going to run them more often than i have to (1 time) =)

Was just surprised when Mrs. Gnome Mage kept going, when in my mind i had switched dps off.

Alrighty, Thanks....Are there any plans to make it so the mage will give the chanter's pet weapons or is that not possible or worth it?

No. we only hand out weapons if they do not have weapons.
I'm gonna assume the "No" is there are no plans to implement it, and this may very well be a stupid question, but other than "we only hand out weapons if they do not have weapons", is that the only reason? Also random question any clue why the chanter was the only pet made this way, which makes is annoying to hand out pet weapons.

Correct.

No clue, you'd have to ask dbg.

I cant say what happened in Mr. McQuaids head, but from reading the result one would assume he wanted the necromantic, summoning and bewitching magics to be diffrenent.
The Enchanter pet was in the beginning just a tiny dagger that only sprang to action when its owner was attacked.
It wouldnt be fitting to hand that tiny dagger a big sword, or?

My assumption is they were shadowmen. Wtb enchanter pet w ice cream cone

Is mage programmed to ever use elemental conversion? I never see it get used so I'm assuming no?

Do you know what the logic is for using it? The default mana to nuke is set at 60%. I usually just leave it there and mage never uses it. I've been staring at it for a while.
i do yep.

we use it at 50 mana, it is currently non-adjustable not currently on the agenda to be adjustable (tho it might make sense to have it match the gather mana value)

I'd definitely recommend adjusting your nukemanamin, 60 is the default, but unless you're finding yourself needing to always have at least 60 mana for other stuff (buffing and etc), then you might consider lowering that.

Great. Thanks. I thought that maybe the default number was set to 60 for a reason, like maybe during burns it might use things to chunk larger amounts of mana, etc. under that bar but doesn't appear to so I'll just move it way down.

Apologize if this isn't the appropriate place to ask for help.

EDIT: Rebooted the game and pet now attacks mobs that hit me in manual mode but c[BGCOLOR=initial]onstantly spams "sorry master calming down" over and over while fighting.[/BGCOLOR]

I don't remember it ever doing that before though maybe I've confused myself lol.

I haven't changed any settings.

If I pause the plug-in it works fine.

We will back a pet off if it isn't supposed to be fighting it.

Should make yourself ma/mt or have one assigned etc

Not sure exactly on conditions that cause this, but it appears to happen in the middle of a wipe recovery, or when the mage is automatically giving out goodies while zoning. i'll find a pet bag (the one with weapons) on my mages cursor. He isnt doing anything, and can't put it in my inventory so i usually delete the bag....Something else will usually be on the cursor after it, but soon after MQ will crash....Any information i can collect on next time, i'd be glad to do...

Do you have other conflicting things putting stuff on your cursor?

We have extra checks to try and auto inventory stuff, But if you have anything else trying to pick up stuff at the same time we're doing stuff I could see that potentially causing you problems
