Question - Lvl 120 Gear Waxing vs Obscured FTP question

For my sk being lvl 120 and max aa after popping a krono (sk is now a silver account after sub ended) should I upgrade to the lvl 120 ftp obscured armor or stick with the faded waxing armor ftp gear for max stats ? I was unsure if I should upgrade to the obscured at lvl 120 or if it would be better to stick with the faded waxing gear until I can get that toon to 125 when they raise the level cap .

as a ftp (assuming this also means only the free expansions) you can wear the obscured armor, you just can't go to laurion inn to get the vendor piece. If you can get someone to get it for you you can wear the armor no matter your sub status and it will be better than waxing

Just for my own curiosity - how old is that account that went Silver? Not the character but the whole account.

The account not the character right? Interesting. There used to be a bug that allowed recent accounts to revert to Silver but they found it and stopped it. So it has not happened for at least 2 years. This is the first we have heard of it still happening. I just assumed since your account here is older that the game account was also.

I noticed that too. But does it matter if your lvl 120 and you still have your faded waxing gear on would you benefit more from that gear since the rec level is 120 but req is 115? Vs using ftp obscured gear with rec lvl 125 and req 120? If that makes sense

Since most databases do not have a listing of the base stats (they display max stats) it would be hard to compare without equipping the items. I would test it on a single item just to see how the stats compare. Generally speaking it would be more ideal to use the most recent expansion equipment. But i do understand the concern. I usually go with Obscured gear from LS due to how abundant those gear pieces are compared to Waxing gear. The downside is trying to find someone to purchase the relevant vendor items to make the gear if you do not have an account with all the expansions.

That being said.... You could plan ahead and buy the newest 125 gear from SoR if it is cheaper or more abundant and wait for LS to unlock this coming year. I have found that when it comes to FTP the gear is less of the driving survivability function and it is more related to having Max AA. For *reasons i have two SK's one is FTP and one is Prestige gear and the FTP account with max aa can still survive stuff that the prestige gear with less than max aa often ends up dying on.
