Problem - Lag?

Hello!
I just started on redguides a few weeks ago. It's been amazing so far, the most fun I have had in EQ in years.
When I started, I had been 3 boxing with isboxer. When I started using Mq2 I added in a forth, and now I am up to 6. Until recently, I had been booting up my original 3 box in isboxer, then loading the other three toons manually, and everything was working well but it was kind of annoying to log them all in like that. I was going to set up an isboxer profile to load all 6, but saw one of the intro video's, and realized I could do almost everything inside of mq2 instead. So I set up a profile, and now have everyone loading from the mq2 icon. It's working great and is much more convenient.
However, now that I have switched to this, I am now having a problem. I am going to call it lag, but I am not sure that's what it really is or not. I play all of my eq accounts on one monitor, leaving my second monitor open for web browsing. Whichever screen is the main focus is fine, but any screen in the background is having a problem where the melee toons jump around a bunch during a fight. The tank will be going fine, then decide to run forward so him and the mob are back to back, then over correct and back up a bunch. Or the dps will start off behind, then just run around to the front, then bounce away from the mob, and then come back. Some fights they just fight normal, some fights it's just one char bouncing around, sometimes they all bounce around.
I have tried using mq2fps, and mq2viewport, neither helped the problem. When I look at my cpu usage, i don't see an increase when the problem occurs or when it doesn't, and it's always about 60% or less either way. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you're "Background FPS" is set to "Min CPU" in the Alt+O (Options) on the display tab, then Advanced.

I wouldn't recommend MQ2FPS as it does essentially the same thing as the ingame FPS limiter does from my understand.

Though if you want to reduce CPU usage/GPU usage on your system you could try MQ2EQWire, which will lower CPU/GPU usage for background EQ clients, but still allow them to run at full tilt.

Had the same issue and Chat's solution is what worked for me. Background toons tend to respond poorly if you've lowered their settings too much. It's about finding the lowest setting that still works for you.

I'd also recommend mq2eqwire. It's a paid plugin, but lets background toons respond very fast by skipping all the graphics stuff unless you click over to their screen. I had a clunker desktop for alts that barely ran 2 toons and with eqwire it now runs 6 toons easy. No upgrades, just the plugin.

I run my toons in two different eq folders, one folder i have bare minimum stick figures with no graphics and the folder i use for my main toon is set to max graphics. I can run 15 toons a cheap 500. hp with onboard video.

I do have the background cpu set to Min CPU, yes. I assume that's the setting I would want, yes?
mq2eqwire seems to have helped some, but they still jump around quite a bit.
I tried logging in through isboxer again, and the problem does go back away.
I guess I could just log in through isboxer, but i'd rather not if I don't need to.
Thanks for the help, let me know if anyone has any other ideas.

Raise the background from min CPU. I run backgrounds at 18 on the clunker laptop and that seems ok with melee toons. If I run it at Min, like one melee will sometimes decide to just keep running straight past a mob and go like 1000 units into the map. I have to rez him later..

If you're running mq2eqwire, unload mq2fps. "/plugin mq2fps unload"

This has made a huge difference in my Toons. My wife has never had some of the problems I do. I looked at her settings and change my background FPS from min to 60. Everyone ran much better last night.
