Question - KA for agnarr?

I dont understand the desire to play on servers set up to be like the game was in way back eras/expansions. Ive played since the game began and I have no desire to go back and raid stuff I raided way back then. What is the allure? Its obviously a money maker for the game since they keep making these servers....what am i missing that makes this so great?

I don't understand why people always have to try and MQ2 every server. If a true box server is set up with the grueling tedious old school xp and people want to play there, why try and and box it with MQ2. Either you enjoy that type of playing or you don't. If need MQ2 then obvious you don't like it so pick another server.

Q: What Things Are Not Allowed on This Server?
A True Box Progression Server is a place where players are only allowed to play one EverQuest account at a time on their computer.
Doing any of the following on Agnarr may result in action being taken against your Daybreak Account:
Playing multiple characters at the same time from a single computer.
Using 3rd party software.
Any method to send one key press to multiple characters.

Doing any of the following on ANY server may result in action being taken against your Daybreak Account:
Unattended Gameplay: Any method that lets a character take actions while you're not at your keyboard.
Playing on virtual machines.
Any attempt to circumvent the /pickzone timer.

For us this is awesome. It is like unofficially saying MQ is ok so long as you are at the keys. Not only that but these true box servers provide a lot of revenue that keeps live pushing out new expansions. Also important to note is that keycloning/isoboxer will no longer be legit to use on box servers now as it hits keys on a separate machine/window. They smartened up with all these people using MQ saying oh I just have a good isboxer setup going.

There will be no MQ2 for Agnarr. Sorry but as long as daybreak don't want this, we are gonna have to respect their wishes.
We have a good relationship with them now and I wont do anything to ruin that, also it is for the good of the MQ2 community as a whole.

I feel like because it's a true box server it should lol

Everyone left Ragefire when Phinigel came out because of the box armies, and a large amount of people will also be leaving Phinigel for Agnarr. There's no way they are going to have MQ2 much less KA on this server. It's good for the game, and boxing on a truebox server is much more difficult for me, but also rewarding in my experience. It's really just personal preference, I enjoy both types of boxing. Boxing on live is probably a lot more complex honestly, I'm a progression server player though :P

Nope, not going to happen, guys. You can use Show EQ if ya like, but that will be the extent of it. I'm kinda digging what I've heard and this might be the first progression server I will actually play on.

I'll do Multibinds, ISBoxer (Mainly for window layouts), Autohotkey (for the more complex macros), and my gaming keyboard. Controlling one character without MQ2 on vanilla EQ is pretty chill, and I don't mind it at all.

ShowEQ is all I need! :) MQ2MoveUtils for Stick might be nice, but the auto follow feature has gotten a bit better and it's been fine for me on Phinigel.

I think EQMule's explanation is and should be the driving factor for enabling MQ2 on servers. There really isn't any other considerations that weight more than that. With that being said, I don't understand why above posts are confused on why folks would want this. Using MQ2 and multi-boxing are not mutually inclusive. Nor is using MQ2 and a desire to play on active/populated classic servers mutually exclusive. MQ2 is a fantastic tool that can enhance the enjoyment of any player in any scenario.

I plan on playing a single account on Agnarr because I like the idea of that type of large player community with the improvements it has over Phinny. Hell, I burned out/got lonely on Ragefire primarily because of the group-box nature of that server, while managing MQ2 was one of my favorite things about playing there. I'll be getting a lot of what I want out of the game because of this new server; including focusing on 1 character. But would MQ2 increase my enjoyment by letting me chill in groups and do funner things other than spam keys? Hell yea it would.

**In case it wasn't clear in my first statement, this isn't an argument for MQ2 on Agnarr, just sharing a point of view that likely many others have.

There are a lot of people who didn't raid the content when it was current so it's a way for them to go back and relive the grouping memories + maybe experiencing the raid content that they didn't get a chance to. Having personally raided when stuff was current, I'm with your mindset for the most part. The 70s era I could see myself playing. In my eyes that was the high point of EQ of old. Amazing raids, classes really came into their own, group content was great, and it was effectively the end of old EQ. DoN could be argued as the end of old EQ due to GL and corpse summons but personally I hated corpse runs so it was a great QoL to me.

Other contender for me was when old EQ really started to die, but the raids were so amazing that reliving that would be worth it to me - TSS and TBS. Solteris was hands down my favorite raid experience in EQ but honestly TSS raids were still great. Group wise I enjoyed both as well as the solo play. Downside to these two, is that TSS was when EQ tried to really appeal to the "WoW crowd" by attempting to make a streamlined leveling experience and the Drakkin - a race that could play most classes. TBS was when itemization started its radical change by having group TBS group gear be better than anquish raid gear which killed a lot of the low end raiding guilds. But eh, I still enjoyed both x-packs but outside of Solteris neither holds the same level of fun in my eyes as the 70s.

Does anyone know if you can on the same PC play both Phinny + Live server at same time?

My wife thinking about playing on Agnarr so I may join her but I cant mentally just play 1 toon so I am considering to 6box on live and 1box on Agnarr =)

  1. Load up your Agnaar toon and /unload
  2. Load up the 6box on live
  3. Enjoy

Yes, the goal here is to ensure mq2 isnt injected into the client being used for the true box server

Do these things not count as ''third party software'' in DBG's eyes?

Grey area, but are largely not enforced. ISBoxer I think will have problems loading, based on past No Box servers, but the rest load just fine.

Out of curiosity, what is the benefit to using these things if you're planning on only using one character?

Thank you for the first reply btw.

Makes gameplay a bit easier and less button mashing. These are all Quality of Life improvements. ISBoxer isn't really needed, but its has great window management.

I don't even know what MQ would be used for on Agnarr... you had like what, 5 buttons to press back then?

Side note: EQ of yore died with Luclin. Velious was the last great expansion!
