Interesting watch, his 'companions' show what has been in movies but is reality now.
I enjoy dabbling in AI video, audio, Lua assistance to help me think things through and check stuff, go over documents for me quickly, etc I find this guys tests worrisome.

@Redfrog nice

Figured this is a good place to rant about it, since its AI...
I was messing around with MS Excel and trying to use CoPilot with it, since its built in. Figuring it will work better as its a little window tab on the side of the open excel file. But it is a MORON. Does not remember something as simple as stop asking me if I want to proceed..when I ask for a edit, just do it.. I foolishly thought it would edit 'live' in the open worksheet... it does no such thing, nor does it even read any live changes I might manually make. Sigh. It did not even create my mock up properly...it did make the pretty chart though.

Yea...Copilot sucks...it's got the personality of a year 6 old with all its stupid questions, forgets everything and never runs a task in full...always pausing to say...am I doing ok...then you tell it no...what to fix...and it forgets everythgin all over again.

All this AI stuff is just a bubble. The technology isn't there yet, the amount of capital the markets have sunk into it is ridiculous, it's not escalable due to power constraints on the grid and generation/storage...and there's no model in the world where any of it is profitable. When leading economic experts...and even the CEOs of the companies tell you it's a bubble you should probably believe it...

It's just the latest scapegoat for CEO's/Boards to trim headcount and say oh it's AI...to pad their bottom line and bonuses. While robots and automation are improving all this AI stuff is just noise.

I've been a software engineer for 40 years. AI has drastically transformed my industry in teh last 3 years. New college grads have no opportunity for jobs (betseen AI and H1B). I can do the work of 5 people just myself using AI. Most low end white collar jobs will be wiped out in the next 5 years. Accounting, Paralegal, Project Management, Engineering entry level, and so many more. It's not that the jobs will disappear, just the quantity of those jobs. One person will do the work of 3-4. Tell your kids to go into plumbing, HVAC, etc. College is now a losers game; tons and tons of debt and low job prospects.

@OldGuard been hearing that since Excel came out...yet here we are 30 years later. No amount of artificial intelligence will ever get projects done on time...or force people's books to balance bud. There's an art to some of these things that no amount of artificial intelligence is going to replace. Granted, some things may become more efficient...but that cuts both ways. I can agree certain things may get streamlined...but AI is not a "one cool trick" thing. Getting people to agree on stuff they don't like or naturally are undisposed to do is not a task any computer will ever do. Now...that being said, people should be going into the trades no matter what...lots of great work and good money to be had there. Hell if I had a do over...i would have probably finished Engineering or gone into Mechanical or Eletrectical work...might have had my owns businesses by now...

In short...don't buy into the hype...AI is the next Excel...some shit will get easier...most stuff will stay the same before it all comes crashing down. AI isn't sustainable or escalable today...never mind a solve for many of our problems today...

@an_image I'm not buying hype. I am living the experience. Like I said, 40 years Software Engineering flipped on it's head in 3 years. Perhaps that won't effect other fields, but color me skeptical. CEOs want to cut costs and this is absolutly one way to d it.

edited to add: A Forbes study came out today saying only 30% of 2025 college grads have found entry-level job, that down from last year where 41% did. Something is chumming the water.

glad i work in the trades ... dont like talking politics religion and social issues much in my gaming fun ... but AI is scary stuff ... im not a fan at all ... where is sarah connor when we need her ... AI makes me wish we never made a computer some days lol.

on the positive side hopefully more kids will discover the trades instead of wasting time and money on post secondary education

Not in all engineering. One of my friends tells me they can't hire enough engineers cause no one wants to work. They have to have a degree even to apply, the pay is really good but half of them don't show up.

They find it easier to U tube something and live off that cause it's easier than working an 8-10 hour day
